2008 Lotus Elise SC – Rare and Immaculate                 60th Anniversary Special Edition Lotus

In 2008, Lotus created a special 60th Anniversary Supercharged edition and built only 43 of these cars.  Of those, only 19 were offered in Phantom Black with the silver stripe.  I searched the US for one in 2009 and found this vehicle for sale at a dealership in Cleveland, OH.  It had been sitting in a dealer showroom for two years and had only been driven 180 miles to and from an auto show in Ohio.  I purchased the car as NEW in January, 2010.  It had never been titled.  It was shipped in a closed trailer to my home and has never been in inclement weather.  This car is in incredible condition.  Never a scratch, nick, or dent.  Paint is all perfect.   Non-smoker.  Car still smells new.  Every function works perfectly.

One owner car – always meticulously maintained by Lotus dealership.   TJ Waszak, arguably the best Lotus mechanic in the Midwest, has personally performed all maintenance, tech prep, and service and has offered to be a personal reference to the quality of this car and the way it has been maintained.    Back in 2010, TJ added a Moroso Oil Pan ($700) to this car to increase oil capacity from 4 to 6 quart wet sump and reduce risk of oil starvation.  Also, added Schroth 4-point harness (wide) shoulder belts for safety.

The car was recently serviced for resale, including new tires, oil and filter, and a complete tech inspection to confirm car is in perfect condition.  Car has been detailed and looks perfect.  Car had new brakes and complete brake flush at 16k miles.  Car also comes with battery-minder (trickle charge to protect battery) and WeatherShield Car Cover ($350) in great condition (car stays covered in garage).

I have the original window sticker that shows price at $63,120.  The 60th Anniversary edition was a $7,495 option.  It offers components that were only available this one time on an Elise SC.  This is the most sought-after car ever to come out of Norfolk, UK.

Car comes with the following special features:

·      Upgraded black leather interior utilizing Silver contrast stitching

·      60th Anniversary logos embroidered in the headrests

·      Car is all hand-crafted and this is the shortest production run ever

·      This car has every Lotus option available including

·      Touring Pack – which includes

o   Thermal and sound-insulated soft top, full leather seats and door trim

o   Upgraded Alpine 4-speaker stereo system with iPod connector, stowage net

o   Additional sound insulation throughout vehicle

o   Full carpet set and passenger well footrest

·      Track Pack (only time offered in an Elise) which includes:

o   Fully adjustable Bilstein dampers with remote front reservoirs and threaded spring perches

·      Sport Pack – which includes lightweight forged silver alloy wheels (6J x 16 front 195/50 R16, 7.5J x 17 rear 225/45 R17) with Yokohama A048 Advan LTS tires

o   Lotus sport-tuned suspension

o   Twin oil coolers

o   Traction control and ProBax sport seats

The 60th Anniversary Edition Lotus Elise SC comes with a color-matched hardtop with the silver racing stripes.  This edition also equipped with Starshield – a clear-protection film applied to the nose of the car, rocker panels, exterior mirrors, and lower rear panels.

Engine – 218 HP 1.8 L mid-mounted 4-cylinder DOHC and VVTL-I (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Intelligence)  Max HP is 218 @ 8,000 RPM.  Max torque is 156lb ft @5,000 RPM.

Fuel tank capacity is 10.6 US gallons.  Have actually got over 30 MPG on highway.

Performance  0-60 in 4.4 seconds.  0-100 in 10.7 seconds.  Top speed 150MPH.

Exterior – RTM Composite fiberglass body.  LED taillights. Aerodynamic aluminum rear diffuser.

Front anti-sway bar.  Lotus/AP Racing & Brembo Calipers with ABS.

Interior – Air conditioning, Starter button, Power door locks, Power windows, Airbags – driver and passenger, Factory anti-theft Alarm system with engine immobilizer.

The negatives – This is one of the most photographed cars in the Midwest - you cannot drive this car anywhere without someone taking your picture, a video, or giving you a shout-out about what a “cool car” this is.  Be prepared.

Lotus Emeya electric sedan revealed like a sleeker Eletre

Fri, Sep 8 2023

The number of four-door models in the Lotus line has doubled with the reveal of the Emeya electric sedan. Not surprisingly, it looks very much like the Eletre SUV, just lower and sleeker. The yellow and black debut color just emphasizes that fact, too. What is a bit surprising is the surprising lack of concrete details on the car. We really do mean it when we say this looks like the Eletre. The Emeya utilizes almost the same lines at every point, from the pointy, angry nose to the curvy flanks. But on the whole, the lower height and less overall visual mass makes it a much more successful design. It also adopts the active grille shutters, diffuser and rear spoiler like the Eletre. One thing that does differentiate the exterior of the Emeya is the use of dual running lights on each end of the front fascia. The Emeya's interior again is a near carbon copy of the Eletre's. A single screen is the focal point with an angular dual-cowl dash board surrounding it. A small screen is nestled in the dash behind the steering wheel to provide basic driving information. Extensive use of leather and faux suede is featured throughout. Specifications on the Emeya are lacking detail. It will be available in a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration that can reach speeds topping 155 mph. The motors will also get it to 62 mph in a claimed 2.8 seconds. It can take advantage of 350-kW-capable fast chargers, as well. The whole car also rides on an adaptive air suspension. But actual horsepower, torque, battery capacity and much more haven't been given.Β  The Emeya will go into production sometime next year. Naturally, pricing hasn't been announced, either. Being smaller than the Eletre, it may end up being a bit less costly. Stay tuned for more of that information closer to production. Related video:

Lotus is giving the electric Evija a V8-inspired soundtrack

Thu, Mar 11 2021

Sound is a big part of the Lotus experience, whether it comes from a four- or a six-cylinder engine, so the company doesn't want its first electric car to be completely silent. It enlisted the help of music producer Patrick Patrikios to remix the Type 49 Formula One car's V8 into a series of sounds that will be programmed into the upcoming Evija. Patrikios comes from the music industry, he has notably worked with artists like Sia and Britney Spears, but he welcomed the collaboration with Lotus because he's been a fan of the brand since his father showed him an Esprit when he was a kid. He set out to create a new range of sounds that fits the Evija's character while honoring the carmaker's heritage, a task that's difficult to accomplish. Luckily, Lotus has several sonorous engines on its resume. "There's a purity to that V8, a raw edge and an emotion that stirs something in your soul, just like the best songs," summed up the producer when asked why he chose the eight-cylinder that powered the Type 49 to victory. Lotus Evija and Lotus Type 49 View 3 Photos After recording the Type 49's exhaust note, he began digitally remastering it and realized that slowing it down put it on a frequency similar to the natural driving sound emitted by the Evija. "I adjusted the replay speeds and digital filtering of the Type 49 to generate a soundscape for the Evija – it was a very organic process," he said. You can listen to the sound created by Patrikios in the video above; it's what pedestrians will hear when the Evija speeds by. He also developed the various chimes and tones that will resonate through the cabin, like when the turn signals are activated or when a seatbelt isn't fastened. Lotus previously confirmed that the Evija will influence future cars, and we know additional EVs are in the pipeline, so the sound could spread to other models.

Lotus suing former CEO Bahar over spending on homes, helicopters and watches

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

More details have come out about the legal suit and countersuit being contested between Lotus cars owner DRB-Hicom and former CEO of Lotus Dany Bahar. Bahar was brought in by Malaysian car company Proton in 2009 to turn Lotus around, and events during his tenure have made just about everyone wonder "What's going on?" That's not unusual - it can take a minute to figure things out when a new leader takes everything in a new direction - but in this case the clouds didn't clear quickly enough.
When the Malaysian government sold Proton to Malaysian auto supplier DRB-Hicom earlier this year, a forensic accounting team from Ernst & Young and The Rothschild Group started going over the books. Not long after, Bahar was suspended in June from his position and then fired. In his countersuit against DRB-Hicom, claims of lavish spending began to surface. Then the stories and leaks and rumors really began, the UK's Financial Mail reporting on more than one million pounds spent on private flights and home renovations, the New Zealand Herald talking about other executives sacked so that DRB could rearrange a 270-million-pound bank loan to Lotus, and rumors on forums about Bahar flying from his home in Norfolk to Hethel HQ and spending 30,000 pounds on motorsports books for his office.
In the latest Bloomberg report it is said that DRB-Hicom seeks 2.5 million pounds ($4 million US) from Bahar "for unauthorized expenses and overpaid salary and bonuses," including the purported expense of 3,000 pounds on watches for company managers. DRB-Hicom also says Bahar made damaging statements to the media, on top of breaching his contractual duties. Bahar's countersuit seeks $10.6 million from DRB-Hicom.
