Car is being relisted because it was purchased by a user with 0 feedback and no intent of paying or following through in any way. Up for your consideration today, we have a 2 owner 2006 Lotus Elise with ~29,900 miles on it (I say this because while this listing is active the car is being driven). This car is awesome. I have been the owner since January of 2013. When I got the car then it has about 13,000 miles on it. I have put ~17,000 on it in the last nearly 2 years, and every one of those miles was a blast. Since I have owned it, the car has been well maintained and serviced. I had a local lotus dealer take care of the oil line connector recall when I first purchased, and I have had a set of tires and a clutch / lightweight flywheel installed in that time. Other than that and of course regular oil changes, air filters, and other standard maintenance, the car has been 100% problem free. The car came stock with a Starshield paint protection (seriously don't buy a lotus without it), Stage 2 exhaust, soft top and matching hardtop, power windows, traction control, power doorlocks, central locking, and keyless entry. Also this is a 2006 which means its the first year to get the upgraded LED Tail lights, which is a huge cosmetic upgrade. The car is mostly stock with a few tasteful additions. I added a Carbon Fiber Weighted Shift Knob for better shifter feel A custom Carbon Fiber Lower Dash Panel Custom Black Lotus Front Emblem Stage 2 Clutch added at ~22,000 miles in preparation for forced induction (which of course i never got around to :) ) Lightweight Flywheel (still very streetable and easy to drive) Black Lug Nuts Custom Carpeted Interior (easy removal if buyer doesn't like) Odyssey PC 925 Battery Custom Mount for Battery Polk Audio Rear Speakers Rockford Fostgate Amp JVC KD NX 5000 Head Unit (previous owner installed) Kenwood KSC-SW1 (previous owner installed) Tinted Reflectors (sheet tint peels right off) Also Included: The stock Owners info (books ect) are included Hard Top Cover Soft top bag Stock Front Emblem Stock Side carpets Passanger Footrest 100% brand new Silverstar 2.0 High and Low beam headlights never installed Please ask any questions before you bid! Im here to help. Also Interior pics are the next step (I want to fully detail the interior before taking them) I will also upload a driving video!

Lotus F1 team $186 million in debt

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

The Lotus F1 team has fallen on some hard times. Majority-owned by investment firm Genii Capital and having little to do with the British automaker with which it shares its name, the Enstone-based outfit has been widely reported to be in serious financial trouble. The extent of those difficulties were until now unknown, but a new report from Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reveals that the team is in the red to the tune of £114 million - equivalent to $186 million at today's conversion rates.
The lack in cashflow is widely believed to have been the impetus for Kimi Raikkonen's departure from the team in order to return to cash-rich Ferrari, and was one of the major factors in selecting Pastor Maldonado to replace him instead of a more proven and accomplished driver of Raikkonen's caliber. Maldonado brings with him major sponsorship funds from Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA. In speaking with the German publication, however, Lotus F1 chairman (and Genii co-founder) Gerald Lopez revealed that the lion's share of the team's debt - £80 million or $130 million - is with Genii Capital itself, a negative balance that isn't likely to affect the team's day to day. That leaves about $56 million which the team owes to outside parties, including Raikkonen, who has yet to receive the full pay he was contracted for.
The team has opted to sit out the first test session of the Formula One season at Jerez. Its 2014 chassis isn't ready and, given the relatively cold temperatures at this point in the year, the team wouldn't expect to learn much about tire performance and degradation. As far as the new engine goes, Lopez says that any knowledge gleaned by Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham at the test session will ultimately be shared with Renault and through it back to Lotus as well. Lotus engineers helped develop the new KERS system with Renault regardless, so the team already has the energy-recovery data it needs. The team will instead prepare for the second test session in Bahrain, by which point it aims to have its new car ready to kick off the season. Lopez says that it has secured the funding to offset its costs for the season ahead, and that it is working to pay down its debt.

Watch some vintage F1 cars blast up a Japanese mountain road

Mon, Dec 28 2015

It's a rare treat to see classic Formula One cars racing anywhere, but watching them on a Japanese mountain road is absolutely sublime. The folks behind Motorhead from Japan took over the toll road's twisting stretch of tarmac to turn this impossible dream into a reality. The unusual opportunity of a closed mountain road would be a waste for only two vehicles, and there were plenty of drivers in amazing machines that wanted to blast up the hill. After the vintage F1 cars got their turn, some drifters in a Nissan GT-R and a Toyota GT86 added some tire smoke to the misty mountain air. A couple more GT-R racecars and some modern sports cars eventually joined them. Before the rain hit, this team had quite a party going on. This video features amazing camera work, but the music unfortunately drowns out the chance to hear these amazing racecars. If watching this leaves you wanting more, Motorhead released a video last year of another group of impressive performance vehicles on the mountain road.

James Bond Lotus submarine sells in London for $966,560

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

With the $966,560 sale ($863,000 plus a 12-percent buyer's premium) of the white 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 submarine used in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, we now know "the Roger Moore discount."
Recall that Sean Connery's silver 1964 Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5 was sold by RM Auctions in London in 2010 for $4.6 million. Three years later, the same auction company in the same city has sold the aforementioned Lotus for just under $1 million.
An unscientific poll of those in the room showed that people preferred Sean Connery's Bond to Roger Moore's by a rate of four to one. And thus it translated into the bidding for their respective cars. No word on the identity of the buyer or his plans for what is, in fact, a working submarine.
