Up for sale is a 2005 Lotus Elise in Storm Titanium with Red leather interior and Black Exige wheels with 38k miles. The Grey/Red combination is incredibly rare, few were made with this combination. Also, the black wheels were only an option with the Exige, but this car was lucky enough to get them from the factory because they had ran out of the standard (and frankly, more boring) Elise wheels.
The car has the Touring pack (leather, power windows, carpet, and additional insulation in the body, doors, and the soft top). The Storm Titanium paint is metallic (another option) that really attracts the eye. The car has the StarShield pack (similar to a 3M clear bra on some body panels). No rock chips in the paint, but there are two minor knicks in the StarShield. No accidents. Always garaged. Regular Maintenance. All documents included. The car looks great and it is a dream to drive. The best feedback of any car I've ever driven. If you've ever driven karts, you will love this car. Cosmetically, the car looks fantastic. Mechanically, everything is perfect with the exception that the 2nd/3rd synchro needs replaced, hence the slight discount from comparable Lotii. For the sake of full disclosure: the two estimates I've gotten were approximately $150 for the synchro and $900 for the labor. The prospective buyer may want to do other things while the work is being done (i.e. clutch upgrades, etc), so I have opted to let the buyer have it done. If you like working on cars (and apparently many Lotus owners do), 90% of the work can be done by yourself and you can save yourself some coin. I can provide the Lotus repair documentation if desired. The Elise only weighs 1950 lbs! It goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds on 168 HP! The car broke Road & Track's 60-0 braking distance record at 105 feet! It has no power steering which gives it incredible response on the road. If you're looking at this car, you clearly have good taste for fine automobiles. If you've never owned a Lotus but always have wanted to, this is a great car to start with. However, you should be comfortable talking to people who approach you about this car...because it will happen. Frequently. 100% feedback since 1999. David 818.448.8392 |

Race Recap: 2013 Indian Grand Prix mostly calm with chances of Championships
Mon, 28 Oct 2013The smog around the Buddh International Circuit got so bad over the weekend that the FIA had to change the practice sessions. Then the soft tires that Pirelli brought to be the options were found to degrade so quickly that teams had to change their qualifying and race strategies. The only man it didn't seem to affect was - guess who? - Sebastian Vettel, who put his Infiniti Red Bull Racing on pole position.
Behind him came Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas, Mark Webber in the second Infiniti Red Bull and on medium tires, Felipe Massa in the first Ferrari, Kimi Räikkönen in the first Lotus, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and the McLaren duo of Sergio Perez and Jenson Button. The tire strategizing didn't work out for Romain Grosjean in the second Lotus, who didn't get out of Q1 after only running the medium compound tire and lined up 17th.
The Indian Grand Prix has been held twice and Vettel has led every single lap of both races. If nothing else, we knew there would be at least one new thing about this Indian Grand Prix: there'd be a lap not led by Vettel since he qualified on softs and would have to pit before Webber and Alonso who were both on mediums.
Race recap: 2015 Singapore Grand Prix full of odd sideshows
Mon, Sep 21 2015What greeted the Formula One teams in Singapore? Confusion. The haze was so thick that observers wondered if the race would be held at all. Then practices began, and Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver Nico Rosberg took the first one, but the team fell away after that. Mercedes said it couldn't get the tires turned on, but no one believed the Silver Arrows was in genuine trouble. Then qualifying set the confusion in stone. Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel laid down the best time in Q3, taking the team's first pole position since Germany in 2012. Daniel Ricciardo got his Infiniti Red Bull Racing into second, about one tenth behind Vettel. (That may make the team feel better after Ricciardo publicly asked for a better engine than the current Renault unit, and team advisor Helmut Marko said the outfit will quit F1 at the end of this year if it can't get a stronger powerplant for 2016.) Kimi Raikkonen put the second Ferrari in third, Daniil Kvyat put the second Red Bull in fourth. And only then came the Meredes'. Lewis Hamilton's best got him fifth, the Brit saying, "We don't really know what we have got wrong. For some reason the tires are not working on the car. We do the warm-up the same as everyone else and then you see someone one second up the road." For added emphasis on the reversal of fortune, his time was 1.6 seconds behind Vettel's. Teammate Rosberg is next to him in sixth, a further half a second back. Williams is still a hurting a bit on slow tracks, so Valtteri Bottas could only get into seventh ahead of Max Verstappen in the Toro Rosso and teammate Felipe Massa in ninth. When the red lights went out, the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix would get both less interesting and more interesting all the way to the final lap. The men up front got good getaways, and the order into Turn 1 was Vettel, Ricciardo, and Raikkonen. The race finished with those three in that order, never having conceded position. Vettel's Ferrari enjoyed the track so much that he laid a second per lap into Ricciardo for the first five, then relaxed. He'd let the gap come down later in the race a couple of times, but any time he wanted to see what his mirrors looked like without anyone in them he'd take off again. Rosberg took fourth position after holding down sixth for the first stint. It looked like he'd have an even worse day - for a Mercedes driver - when he had problems getting his car started and onto the grid before the race.
Lotus suing former CEO Bahar over spending on homes, helicopters and watches
Mon, 03 Dec 2012More details have come out about the legal suit and countersuit being contested between Lotus cars owner DRB-Hicom and former CEO of Lotus Dany Bahar. Bahar was brought in by Malaysian car company Proton in 2009 to turn Lotus around, and events during his tenure have made just about everyone wonder "What's going on?" That's not unusual - it can take a minute to figure things out when a new leader takes everything in a new direction - but in this case the clouds didn't clear quickly enough.
When the Malaysian government sold Proton to Malaysian auto supplier DRB-Hicom earlier this year, a forensic accounting team from Ernst & Young and The Rothschild Group started going over the books. Not long after, Bahar was suspended in June from his position and then fired. In his countersuit against DRB-Hicom, claims of lavish spending began to surface. Then the stories and leaks and rumors really began, the UK's Financial Mail reporting on more than one million pounds spent on private flights and home renovations, the New Zealand Herald talking about other executives sacked so that DRB could rearrange a 270-million-pound bank loan to Lotus, and rumors on forums about Bahar flying from his home in Norfolk to Hethel HQ and spending 30,000 pounds on motorsports books for his office.
In the latest Bloomberg report it is said that DRB-Hicom seeks 2.5 million pounds ($4 million US) from Bahar "for unauthorized expenses and overpaid salary and bonuses," including the purported expense of 3,000 pounds on watches for company managers. DRB-Hicom also says Bahar made damaging statements to the media, on top of breaching his contractual duties. Bahar's countersuit seeks $10.6 million from DRB-Hicom.
