2005 Lotus Elise

I bought the car 2/27/2012 with 15809 it now has 18532

I had been looking for a Lotus Elise for ever when this one came up locally I jump on it without checking into it I didn’t even know it had a salvage title until my credit union call and told me (my bad) but I was very excited to own a Lotus .

I did look at as much as I could when I went to look at it but there were 2 other people there looking at it also that's why I jumped on it. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome car.

I believe the car came from Florida and the place I bought it from did the body work

There was only fiberglass damage NO chassis damage at all

They didn’t do the best job in the world and the front very bottom was not done as you can see in the pictures but I see most Elise’s have the same problem

There is a scratch on the driver’s door that looks like they painted over it and one on the back upper trunk area

The passenger door window is tinted blue but not driver’s side. (I think that is where it might have had the damage but not sure also the paint on the door is very slightly different very hard to tell)

Also inside the Drives door where the hinge there are some scratches or cracks (not sure) but it’s not affecting structure at all and was never painted (see pictures)

Don’t get me wrong the car looks great

Power windows work great

No keys entry (there might be I just didn’t get the opener)

The paint it nice and shinny

Typical Lotus radio never picks up any stations CD player rocks

The leather boot around the shifter is lose at bottom

Hardtop is missing the back brackets I don’t know why I just never received them

(Lotusgarage.com about $40) I never use the top so never bothered

I put new tires on back front ones still have good tread

I have changed the oil twice with Royal Purple I don’t know why I did it twice I had big plans

Now for the Motor train

NEVER a drop of anything under car

NEVER loses a drop of anything

Car runs and drives GREAT everything is as tight as it was from the factory (only 18000 miles)

Front brakes just started squeaking I might change them before auction ends (AutoZone D109 $20.00)

No promises

My wife and I loved cruising around but we could only last about an hour before we got sore (yeah we’re old and fat LOL

I paid $25000 for the car and my reserve is much lower than that I just can’t handle the $600 a month payment anymore

The car is not perfect I tried to list everything I know so there are no surprises but on the same note the car drives AWESOME and looks good too

Funds will have to be creared before the title and car can be tranfored I still owe the credit union but they have the title on hand

Any questions PLEASE ask

On May-31-14 at 17:26:00 PDT, seller added the following information:

Sorry I just added the rest of the pictures I don't know why they didn't go the first time.

And it's actually in Mentor , Ohio 44060 5 minutes away from 44077 (I moved)

Also someone asked for a warranty. this is something I can not offer I have described the car the best I can and it does run fantastic.

I've only run HIGH TEST gas and its been stored inside never even seen rain since I've had it.

Sorry but it's a AS IS auction.

Lotus Advanced Performance division wants to make your dreams come true

Wed, Feb 9 2022

Lotus took a big step in its quest to position itself as a British alternative to Porsche by launching a division called Advanced Performance. Run by a former Aston Martin executive, Lotus Advanced Performance will design and build one-off and few-off models, among other tasks. Most high-end and specialty carmakers operate a program that gives customers some degree of freedom in terms of customization. Lotus was, until now, largely an exception to this rule. It hopes to make up for lost time by giving its Advanced Performance division a surprisingly long list of responsibilities. First the department will be responsible for building "ultra-exclusive and unique vehicles" that will not be part of the firm's regular-production line-up. One of these (shown in a sketch above) looks like it draws inspiration from classic Formula One cars. Details are few and far between, but the massive rear wing speaks volumes about the kind of halo cars we'll see in the not-too-distant future. What's unclear is whether Lotus will take customer requests. We've reached out, and we'll update this story if we learn more. Designing limited-edition models and developing race cars will also fall within the scope of Advanced Performance's responsibilities. And, it's the door that buyers who want to customize their car will need to knock on; they'll be able to select different paint colors, trim materials, and upholsteries. Optional extras and a range of Lotus-branded accessories will also emerge from Advanced Performance's headquarters. Immersing customers and enthusiasts into the Lotus world is important as well, so Advanced Performance will organize tours of the brand's production lines, organize driving academies around the world (including on the Hethel test track in England) and prepare "money can't buy" opportunities for clients. There's no word yet on what these experiences will look like; more information should emerge later in 2022. Lotus put Simon Lane in charge of its Advanced Performance division. He's a good choice: his resume includes leading Aston Martin's Q division, whose list of responsibilities looks a lot like Advanced Performance's. Q notably brought us the V8-powered Cygnet in 2018 and the one-of-a-kind Victor unveiled in 2020. Some of its other projects have been more tame: it gave the DBX a long list of carbon fiber parts. The black and gold Lotus Evora Sport 410 GP Edition is heading to America

Thu, Apr 6 2017

Few race teams have such deeply iconic liveries as Team Lotus. From the Gold Leaf cars from the late 1960s to the bright yellow Camel cars that lasted until the early 1990s, arguably none is more iconic than the John Player Special cars that brought world championships to Emerson Fittipaldi and Mario Andretti. Now that same sleek black and gold paint scheme can be had on the new Lotus Evora Sport 410 GP Edition. Even better, it's heading to America. While the GP Edition isn't anything more than a special paint scheme, what a wonderful design it is. The livery is based on the John Player Special Team Lotus cars that competed in Formula One between 1972 and 1986. The black paint is accented with gold stripes along the hood, fenders, doors, and rocker panel. Gold Evora Sport 410 logos adorn the rear while a "Word Champions" emblem flanks the engine cover. The Evora Sport 410 is the lighter, faster version of the thoroughly reworked Evora 400 that we drove last year. Lotus says it's the fastest road car the automaker has ever built. It hits 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and tops out at 190 mph. They US version has been specially curated by Lotus engineers in order to be both light and meet federal crash test standards. Unfortunately, Lotus is only building 150 total each year for worldwide markets. Related Video:

Lotus Evija's wild aero setup is detailed by chief aerodynamicist

Tue, May 12 2020

The Lotus Evija is a car of firsts for Lotus. To that end, the company has spent a lot of time talking over the details. Today, we get to learn about the wild shape’s aerodynamics and what Lotus engineers were trying to accomplish. Richard Hill, chief aerodynamicist for Lotus takes a dive into all the details, and the video at the top of this post offers a great visual. “Most cars have to punch a hole in the air, to get through using brute force, but the Evija is unique because of its porosity,” Hill says. “The car literally ‘breathesÂ’ the air. The front acts like a mouth; it ingests the air, sucks every kilogram of value from it – in this case, the downforce – then exhales it through that dramatic rear end.” We can see what Hill means as we look at the Evija in photos. Instead of a regular front bumper, this one has pass-throughs that direct the air back into the side of the car. Lotus hasnÂ’t released the all-important coefficient of drag figure yet, but we have to imagine itÂ’s very low. The front splitter (below, left) is responsible for a few different things. The opening in the center takes in air to cool the battery pack that is mounted behind the seats. Then, the outer section of the splitter channels the air to the “e-axle” for cooling of the electrical components. And finally, it also produces downforce.  There are a couple more tunnels for air to pass through in the rear. These “holes” are likely the most distinctive design feature, especially when accentuated with the LED taillights. Hill says that these are also fully functional and help to reduce drag. “They feed the wake rearward to help cut drag,” Hill says. “Think of it this way; without them the Evija would be like a parachute but with them itÂ’s a butterfly net, and they make the car unique in the hypercar world.” On top of all these porous body structures, there are pieces that move. The rear wing can elevate upward from its flush body position and deploy into clean air above, creating more downforce. And then thereÂ’s an F1-style drag reduction system. This uses a horizontal plane that deploys from the car to make it slipperier through air. The final big piece of this puzzle is the underbody sculpting that directs air into the massive rear diffuser. This causes an upwash of air, in turn creating a massive amount of downforce. Hill sums it up quite nicely.
