1988 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE  38,000 Actual miles

I bought this car out of an estate in Idaho in the middle of nowhere.  I collect old cars but needed to buy a number of cars to get the old one I wanted.  This is not one I would keep.

The individual passed away suddenly and most of the vehicles had been sitting.  Like the other cars, I had my restorer drain the fuel, we put fresh high octane gas, changed the oil and put new plugs in before we started the car.  Several of the tires have light cracking on the sidewall so it needs tires.  I would also do a service as it is unknown since the last time.  It tracks straight, runs smoothly and shifts beautifully.  The exterior paint is in exceptional condition.  The leather interior is average but clean.  It has a clean Carfax and has never been damaged.  I found the dealer sales agreement from Boise, Idaho and he paid $28,000 in 2006.  Like the other cars in the group they all were driven sparsely in the years since he purchased them.  This car appears to be very sound but is sold as is.

Lotus recalls 2008-2011 Elise, Exige and 2011 Evora over fire fear

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Lotus is recalling 860 vehicles after discovering that the oil cooler hose could detach from its fitting. Should the hose separate, it could spray oil on one of the lightweight car's tires, giving new meaning to the phrase "sudden loss of grip." The other case is, believe or not, more dire, as the spraying oil could hit the engine and ignite. Of course, neither situation is desirable, hence the recall.
The vast majority of the affected vehicles (780 of the 860) are the 2008 to 2011 Elise and Exige, built between November 2007 and July 2011. Another 80 Evora S coupes from 2011, manufactured between September 2010 and September 2011, are also included in the recall.
All repairs will, naturally, be completed free of charge. In the Elise/Exige's case, that means replacing the hose fittings, while the affected Evoras will get a new hose assembly.

Lotus F1 Team Breaks World Record For Longest Truck Jump

Mon, Nov 24 2014

Lotus F1 wasn't content to make just any commercial for their technology partner EMC Industries. It had to be one for the record books. The video released over the weekend shows a truck breaking the world record for longest jump ever completed by a truck. The stunt was obviously geared towards publicity, but while they were at it, they set a Guinness World Record for the longest truck jump at 83 feet, 7 inches. The previous record, according to Guinness, stood at 50 feet, 6 inches, and was set on MTV's Nitro Circus on November 17, 2008, by Gregg Godfrey at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City. That record stood for six years, but (as best we can tell) was set without the trailer attached, or the F1 car tracking underneath - which only makes this latest stunt that much more impressive. Stunt driver Mike Ryan planned the jump and drove the truck off the ramp and over fellow stunt driver Martin Ivanov as he sped underneath in a Lotus F1 race car. And just so you know no CGI was involved, EMC industries included a making of video on their website.

Recap: 2013 Spanish Grand Prix is Catalan for 'Lottery' and 'More pit stops'

Tue, 14 May 2013

This year's Formula One season might qualify as being just as crazy as last year's, only it's a different kind of crazy. Instead of a new winner every Sunday, how the winner actually manages to take the victory is the mystery, and just when we thought the season might have settled into a groove regarding team performance, here comes the Spanish Grand Prix to remind us that we don't know anything until the race has been run.
There were many similarities to past weekends to being this one: Mercedes-AMG Petronas showed awesome one-lap pace, Fernando Alonso did well enough in qualifying to get fifth on the grid but talked up the race pace of the Ferrari, Kimi Räikkönen was the equivalent of a racing photobomber, never saying much but always showing up in the picture, Felipe Massa wasn't really big on the tires and McLaren might want to consider starting a blues band they spend so much time singing them.
Then the lights went green and things went nuts...
