This was a dream car that just isn't going to happen for me, I haven't had the time/resources to dedicate to the project to get it done, I am now graduating from school and ready to start my own business for which I need to secure some start-up funding (reason to sell) and also I know my time will become even less with starting career.  To be complete the vehicle needs:

A.  Motors mounted (fabrication of mounting assembly)
B.  Custom shorty drive-shafts fabricated and installed with pulleys mounted to them (as per the design parameters I have set up for this vehicle for dual 7" DC motor direct drive)
C.  "Drive-train" assembly (would consist of pulley on motor and one intermediate pulley to get proper 5:1 gearing ratio)
D.  Programming and hard installation of EV components (Charger and controller)
E.  Programming of CAN-bus network (to get BMS, controller, charger and Opto-22 drive-system communicating with one another)
F.  Programming of Reach LCD touch-screen (to communicate with Opto-22 and display/control pertinent driving data); optional to operation of vehicle
G.  Programming of networking components (GPS, WiMax, WiFi setup for vehicle tracking and monitoring); optional to operation of vehicle

The vehicle itself is incredible, light-weight (2300 lbs after conversion w/ driver), sexy, aerodynamic, etc. It is a Dark Metallic Blue 2005 Lotus Elise with a perfect body, all parts present and back-up parts included (spare front and rear sub-frames, steering assembly, stabilizer arms, etc.)

The vehicle is in great shape and includes a like-new soft-top as well as all the spare parts/components that I have for it (I want you to be successful in completing it and will make sure you have everything I do)

The EV components are realistically too much to list but I'll do my best:

1. 22 Valence UEV-18XP batteries (Over 30kwh total battery pack, 18 onboard and 4 back-up batteries) w/ Valence U-BMS sytem (and 1 back-up BMS system)

2. 3.3 kw charger from Current-ways, J1772 compliant, IP-67, etc. fantastic charger!

3. Controller: Netgain Warp-Drive; includes water circulating pump, coolant reservoir and HEPA pedal.  (I will send the controller to Netgain to have the latest firmware installed upon payment of auction)

4. DC-DC converter; not sure brand anymore, its installed up front and I haven't seen it for a while but its there and is a very high quality unit.

5. GPS, WiMax, WiFi antennae, router/receiver and other networking components (to connect car to home network or access information about the vehicle remotely); was several thousand dollars to set up these components.

6. Opto-22 Industrial I/O board w/ brains; monitor and control all vehicle subsystems; was also several thousand dollars to get set up.

7. 7" touch-screen (Reach brand), ready for programming to communicate with Opto-22 and display whatever driving data you desire.

8. Motors; 3 7" 144V rated DC motors (I was going to do one on each of the rear wheels and bought 3 so I'd have one spare motor)

And tons more small things (contactors, wiring, etc.) as well as necessary communications equipment (CAN-bus to serial adapter, laptop with Valence BMS programming/monitoring software installed on it, etc.)

$80+K has been invested plus the enormous amounts of time to strip the chassis down of all its ICE components (Gas engine).

This is a dream car, imagine having a Tesla Roadster for half the price and having it completely programmable/customizable/etc with no proprietary components (cheaper repairs/maintenance).

Vehicle was originally close to $30K, batteries were another $30K, Charger, controller, DC/DC, motors, etc. were another $20K.

Located in Phoenix, AZ, 85044.  Vehicle and EV components all garage-kept, some of the spare chassis parts and spare suspension components are stored outside.

Must be trailered and need extra trailer space for the spare frame components/etc.

Lotus Cars, Williams Advanced Engineering announce technical partnership

Sports car company Lotus announced a technology development partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering, more commonly referred to simply as Williams. Lotus says the partnership will be specifically focused on propulsion systems. And this has us very excited. Lotus doesn't need much introduction; it makes ultralight and spectacular handling sports cars. Williams is a bit more obscure, but it works on some of the coolest vehicles in the world. For decades the company has participated in Formula 1, and still has a team competing. It developed a wild 500-horsepower flat-six engine for Singer, and it worked with Jaguar on the C-X75 concept car and made stunt versions for the James Bond movie "Spectre." The company even has electric car experience with four seasons of Formula E and development work on the Aston Martin Rapide E on its prodigious resume. The subtext of these various Williams projects is that we could see almost any kind of powertrain show up in Lotus sports cars in the future. The companies could have some high-revving, high-output internal combustion engines for the near-term, then they could create electric drivetrains for future Lotus cars. Think first-generation Tesla Roadster but developed by a company with racing experience. Perhaps the two could even create some hybrids in between launches of the two powertrain types. Of course we're speculating, but none of this out of the question considering Williams' capabilities. In fact, since the Formula E experience is specifically highlighted in the Lotus announcement, we bet electric Lotus cars are all but guaranteed. Lotus won't rule out SUV, but first we'll get a new Elise

Not even Lotus can ignore the sales potential of SUVs. Speaking to media yesterday, Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales said "The SUV is an interesting market. We're working on a concept but haven't made a decision yet." Lotus has reorganized lately, and is cash flow neutral on a path to future profitability. Put away your pitchforks. Yes, Lotus is the last automaker we'd expect to make an SUV, but nearly every other carmaker has already given up resistance. And we surmise that even a Lotus SUV would follow the Lotus founder Colin Chapman's famous ethos of "Simplify, and add lightness." At least relatively. Or, as Gales put it, "We stick to our roots, because they are enviable roots." That means the new Elise, coming in 2020 and destined for America, will be a lot like the current model sold in other markets. As we reported last week, Gales confirmed that the next Elise will be slightly wider to accommodate side airbags, but otherwise will have similar dimensions and power-to-weight ratio. The Evora 400 Roadster is also still planned, but won't come stateside for at least two years. "Lotus will not fit electrical steering [systems]. They take away the steering feel." And while the SUV ship may sail, there are still a few heretical ideas left in Hethel. In confirming that the Elise will add assisted steering in the next generation, Gales assured us it would be hydraulic. "Lotus will not fit electrical steering [systems]. They take away the steering feel." Also off the table for Lotus is any kind of hybrid. Speaking to Autoblog, Gales explained that hybrid systems adds weight, complexity, and take up space. The first two items go against the core values at Lotus, and the third creates packaging issues. "Besides, when you have low mass it's easy to be efficient," the CEO said. He added that a pure EV might be something Lotus would consider, but not anytime in the near future. Lotus returns to the US this year with the Evora 400. Stay tuned for our first drive review in a couple of days (spoiler alert: the car is awesome). And beyond the Evora convertible and next Elise, Gales says "You will enjoy many more cars from our company." The Stig breaks into Lotus F1 HQ

As Top Gear's mysterious test driver, The Stig has driven just about everything on wheels - and more than a few things without. But an F1 car? That still remains a rarity, even on Top Gear.
That all changes in this latest promo clip, though. The video shows what happened when his Royal Stigness arrived at the headquarters of the Lotus F1 team in Enstone, England, where he somehow managed to scan his way in past security and got his hands on a Lotus-Renault E21, the V8-powered single-seater that Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean drove in the 2013 Formula One World Championship - and which the Stig will apparently be driving on stage during the upcoming Top Gear Festival in Durban.
