Sorry about the limited pictures, I'll try to get some more up by the end of the weekend.  If you want to see anything specific, feel free to let me know.

Car is nice and well-maintained (I have a very complete file of records going back to circa 1990). However, it is important to remember that the car does have 104K miles on it, so it is not perfect. I am the third owner. Car was first leased in VA for 2 years, then bought by the second owner in NC where it lived from 1988-2011. Options include:

"Glacier Blue Glamour Metallic" paint
JBL Audio System
Leather seats
Wire wheels
Digital dash w/ trip computer
Auto-dimming rearview mirror

What works: pretty much everything except: the power door lock switch (not the lock itself) on passenger door and one of the "tilt" switches on passenger door. Radio works fine/well, but when the volume is adjusted there is some static during the process.

Condition (mechanical): Runs and drives well. Battery is 6 months old. Alternator is about 3 years old. Michelin Symmetry tires, as well as brakes, are about 5 years old with less than 10K miles on them. A/C has been converted to R134 and is cold (I had charged upon delivery a couple Falls back). The only thing negative to mention is that sometimes the engine takes two attempts to start. I assume it is a fuel pressure issue (pump always primes when the key is turned, so I'm not sure if the fuel pump itself is the culprit). There is a new fuel pressure regulator in the glovebox that I've never dealt with. Also, when brake pedal is depressed, there is a "hissing" noise at first - this seems to get better as the drive continues....the car stops fine and the pedal does not feel soft, so I haven't worried about it.

Condition (body): Very presentable. Of course, there are a few small scratches from use, but nothing that really catches the eye. Right front painted bumper filler on side has brushed something lightly. Biggest problem for me is where the vinyl top has pulled away from the molding where it meets the painted part of the body (passenger side C-pillar). This a 4-5 inch section which the previous owner filled with clear silicon (I don't know how to address other than replacing the whole vinyl top which is perfect otherwise). The wire wheels still look decent, but do have slight haze as they always do. These are better than most though, I have to say. Also, the window run channels are dry and disintegrated in places on the outside (inside is fine) - I've looked for NOS ones with no luck.

Condition (interior): Very nice. If you know these cars, you know that the dashes bake quickly and that the integrated speaker covers crack. This car's dash looks new, proving that it has been garaged. The leather interior is very nice, with the driver's seat showing minor wear as expected. The glovebox door has the usual separation at the top (previous owner attempted to glue). Front passenger armrest has slight cracking on corner. Front driver's armrest is badly cracked underneath the color-keyed aftermarket plastic cover (made to fit).

DISCLAIMER:  This vehicle is almost 27 years old, so NO WARRANTY of any kind is expressed/implied.  $500 deposit required via PayPal within 24 hours of winning bid.  Final payment to be made via cashier's check, cash, or personal check (though vehicle can not be released until check clears bank).  Thanks.

Again? Ford issues second 2015 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ seat belt recall

Fri, Aug 16 2019

In 2016, Ford issued a recall for 603,392 2013-2016 Fusions and 2013-2015 Lincoln MKZs due to potentially faulty seat belts. Apparently, that wasn't the end of it. Ford announced another recall this week for the same issue, this time covering 108,399 2015 Fusions and MKZs.  In both cases, the seat belt anchor pretensioners are the issue. According to Ford, "increased temperatures generated during deployment of the driver or front-passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner could degrade the tensile strength of the cable below the level needed to restrain an occupant." Basically, heat could weaken the seat belts, and in extreme cases, they wouldn't be able to keep up proper safety standards. Ford knows of at least one injury that has occurred due to this issue.   The recall includes 103,374 vehicles in the United States, 4,002 in Canada, and 1,023 in Mexico. Possibly affected Fusions were built at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant between August 1, 2014 and January 30, 2015. The MKZs were built at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between August 1, 2014 and November 21, 2014.  As a fix, Ford says dealers will add an extra coating to the seat belt pretensioner cable for protection from the heat. If this recall might affect your vehicle, call your local Ford dealership and use recall reference No. 19S25. This news comes after Ford recalled 1.3 million Fusions and MKZs in 2018 due to the possibility that the steering wheels could fall off. Fusions have also been recalled due to the risk of rolling away.

Lincoln reignites the Navigator with bold concept

Wed, Mar 23 2016

The Lincoln Navigator's demise has been greatly exaggerated, and nearly 20 years after it first revolutionized the luxury segment, a new generation of the iconic sport-utility vehicle will again point the way forward for the brand. Previewed by a concept at the New York Auto Show, the new Navigator will hit showrooms next year joining the much-anticipated Continental sedan as Lincoln's twin flagships. The concept is "a very strong" hint of what the production Navigator will look like, Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra said. He's referring to the general appearance of the tall concept, which is confident, creased, and a bit reminiscent of a Range Rover. There are huge wheels, lots of chrome, and "Navigator" spelled out in blocked capital letters over the fender vents. It runs a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 making 400 horsepower and will ride on a new chassis, though Galhotra wouldn't offer more details. Oh, and it has gullwing doors. The crowd audibly oohed and aahed when that feature was demonstrated at a preview event in New York, but those are purely for show. They won't be on the production model, Galhotra said, and they're meant to demonstrate the spacious cabin. "The nature of the vehicle is very important ... and it's a great way to showcase that interior," he said. The inside of the concept is an interesting place. It has a rear cargo area that doubles as a closet, complete with shelves that make up a wardrobe management system, and there's a rail running down the middle of the passenger area. A multi-level running board cascades forward when the gullwing doors open, and the six seats are adjustable 30 ways. There are also wifi-equipped touchscreen monitors mounted in the seat backs. Inside and out, the Navigator carries a nautical vibe. It's covered in a soft shade of blue paint, while the interior has blue leather and teak accents. The Navigator concept features some of Ford's semi-autonomous technology, including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. The radar-and-camera-based system will look for obstacles in the vehicle's path, warn the driver, and then brake if needed. It also has a 360-degree camera and lane-keeping assist. Look for all of this on the production model. Launched in 1997, the Navigator is one of the original all-American large luxury SUVs – the Cadillac Escalade didn't arrive until 1999.

2022 Lincoln Navigator revealed with tech updates, hands-free driving, new Black Label themes

Wed, Aug 18 2021

Last week, Lincoln Motor Company teased its updated, enhanced and even more upscale Navigator SUV for the 2022 model year. Today, Ford’s luxury brand has unveiled this mid-cycle refresh with improved technology — including the Lincoln ActiveGlide hands-free driving system and over-the-air software updates — plus two new available themes for the line-topping Black Label trim level. Starting with tech, Lincoln launches the first iteration of its ActiveGlide advanced driver assistance tech, which, like FordÂ’s new BlueCruise technology, allows for hands-free highway driving if the right conditions are met. It leverages adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, lane centering and traffic sign recognition to allow for hands-free driving on over 130,000 miles of divided highways across North America. Similar to GMÂ’s Super Cruise system, ActiveGlide monitors the driverÂ’s head and eye positions with a driver-facing camera to unsure their attention remains on the road ahead of them, ready to take over driving functions if need be. The 2022 Navigator also employs Lincoln Enhance, which is the branded name for its over-the-air software update capability. This allows Lincoln to make improvements, install new features and even provide some preventative maintenance without it needing to be brought in for service. Lincoln promises this allows the “Navigator to get even better over time.” This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Lincoln says it has streamlined its Amazon Alexa experience to respond to more natural language. You can use Alexa in the car the way you normally would with the digital assistant, or you can connect the Lincoln Way app for Alexa to control certain car features — locks, remote start, checking on vehicle status — from your Alexa-enabled home or mobile device. The 2022 Navigator also benefits from AmazonÂ’s Fire TV service for the rear-seat entertainment. It even includes 16 GB of built-in storage so you can watch your favorite Prime Video content on the road without connectivity. ThereÂ’s an updated Sync 4 infotainment system with a larger 13.2-inch center screen, improved voice recognition and navigation, and a Constellation design theme that carries over to the digital instrument cluster and the refreshed head-up display. In the second row, occupants now have a digital control module for rear climate and audio settings.
