1976 Continental Mark IV Bill Blass Designer Edition

Up for Sale is one Rare Mark IV in good condition. The Bill Blass Designer was first offered for the 1976. model year. This car has only 38,000 miles!

This car has a 460 V8 with automatic transmission. Both run quiet and strong, no hesitations when accelerating... 4 new tires (less than 8,000 miles) on original factory Lincoln chrome dish wheels all in great shape including the spare tire. Interior is finished in Bill Blass blue & white trim with new carpet & floor mats.  White headliner and sun visors are in perfect condition (no sagging).  New paint (6 years ago).

Most all power options work (see issues below).  Windows work nice and fast (new window motor bushings in 2012), power locks work, headlight delay works. Air conditioning has been converted to R-134 and blows cold, all the lights on the car are working properly including the trunk and under hood lamp. Many new parts have been put in to make this a reliable and head turning car, all new tires, sure track break module, exhaust gaskets, valve cover gaskets, tune up, battery, break hoses, shocks, and complete Midas exhaust .  All service records and receipts (while I have owned the car) are available.  Clean engine compartment with no leaks.

Upgrades include car alarm w/power trunk release and the factory stereo has been replaced with an Alpine CD-7870 with 4 new speakers.

Sale also includes 2 new snow tires with less than 500 miles on them and a full premium car cover.

Known issues with the car (all fixable):

  1. The car does have rust starting on the lower front fenders and lower rear quarter panels which need attention.  There are also some small  rust spots around the vinyl top trim and hood rear trim. (see pics)

  2. Small tears on driver's front seat bottom (see pic)

  3. 1/2" tear in passenger side vinyl top (see pic)

  4. Horn/cruise control doesn't work.  Issue with 12volt power to steering wheel (both use same yellow wire 12volt source)

  5. Clock does not work (working replacement included)

I drive the car almost daily, always starts right up and no problems.  Always get compliments when people see it on the road.  Hate to sell it but no garage space to store it.

Ford recalls 1.48 million F-150s for transmission, plus other models

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Weeks after recalling more than 800,000 F-Series pickup trucks for a fire risk, Ford has issued another separate recall for approximately 1.48 million 2011-2013 F-150s for a transmission fault. The six-speed automatics could unexpectedly downshift into first gear without warning. Ford and Lincoln tangentially issued much smaller recalls for the Mustang, Continental, Nautilus, and Navigator. According to Ford, some 2011-2013 model year F-150 pickups with six-speed automatic transmissions could "experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module." This could potentially cause the trucks to temporarily downshift, which could be dangerous if it occurs while driving. Of the 1.48 million affected trucks, 1.26 million are in the U.S. while 221,000 are in Canada. Thus far, Ford knows of five reported accidents involving the issue. To remedy the problem, owners can take their trucks to dealers to update the power control module software. Ford also issued recalls for about 4,350 2019 Mustangs, Lincoln Nautiluses, and Lincoln Navigators in the U.S. and Canada due to a possible fault with the instrument clusters. Although there have been no reports of accidents, Ford says the instrument panel clusters assemblies might be blank or not turn out when the vehicle is started. Additionally, Ford issued a third recall for 28,200 2017-2019 Lincoln Continentals in the U.S. and Canada. Ford says silicon contamination might build up inside the door latch motor, causing it to malfunction. As a result, the door latch might not always fully engage, and the doors could possibly open unexpectedly. Despite no reports of accidents, Ford will remove and replace door latch assemblies on all doors for those affected by the defect. If any of these apply to a vehicle you own, contact Ford to discuss whether it is included in any of these recalls and have the vehicle checked out at a Ford dealership.

Ellen DeGeneres sends up Matthew McConaughey's Lincoln ad

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Lincoln had to have known that when it released its new ad campaign for the new MKC with Matthew McConaughey, it would open itself up to a bit of good old fashioned ridicule. The television commercial was, after all, good for a laugh or two. And true to their mission, talk show hosts haven't missed the opportunity to have a little fun at Lincoln's and McConaughey's expense.
Conan O'Brien was first to send up the television spot, but now Ellen DeGeneres has taken a stab at it too, superimposing herself in the back seat of the compact luxury crossover, downing some pot brownies and generally playing Costello to McConaughey's Abbott. It's worth a watch, if only to see Ellen getting down in her usual, offbeat style.
