Offered for your consideration is a 1974 Lincoln Mark IV personal luxury coupe.  This is a low-mileage North Carolina car that needs very little to made into really nice ride.

I am selling this car for a friend of mine who does not do the internet.  THIS IS NOT MY CAR, and I can answer very few questions for you.  See below for the contact information of the owner who will be glad to speak with you almost any time.

Many cars on Ebay look better on the computer than they do in person.  This car is just the opposite – pictures do not do it justice.  The original silver paint is faded.  All the chrome trim has been removed and parts have been spot-primed to prevent rust.  Missing chrome is in the trunk, which has no rust I am told.

The body is incredibly straight with no dents or dings.  The only rust is bubbling under the vinyl top (see photo).  The top looks great.  There are two plugged holes on top of the left rear fender where radio antennae once sat proudly (remember the 1970s?  The CB craze?  Apparently the first owner of this car was enamored with the fad, 10-4!).

The car does run and yard drives, but I would not consider it roadworthy.  As you can see by the photo of the last NC inspection, this car has not been on the road since 2002.  Tires do not look very weathered.  It does have a good battery.

The interior is the real strong point of this car!  During storage, it has had sheets and towels over the dash, real parcel shelf and seat cushions, and sun shades blocking all the windows (I had to move these to take pictures, as you can see in the photos).  The result is that the interior is remarkable!  There are no cracks or discoloration on the dash or rear inside panels, the headliner is unblemished, and the seat cushions – red velour, no less! – are not sun damaged or torn anywhere I could see.  Carpet looks great and there are no signs of wear there or on the pedals.

As you can see from the photos of the dash and instrumentation, this car shows 52,000 miles, and I have no doubt it’s probably correct miles (I have no documentation to prove this, however!).  The car has the very rare (for 1974) factory AM/FM cassette player, plus all the usual bells and whistles.  I have no idea if they work, but everything is present to make them work.

The inside door panels are off the car and in the garage (they are perfect as well), because the previous owner was trying to get the power windows to work.  (They appear to be stuck, but the motors try to work).

This car needs the windows fixed, a good tune-up, and a paint job to once again be the head-turner it was 4 decades ago.  The car certainly deserves the attention!  Those of you in northern portions of the country who love these old land barges will never find one in your neck of the woods with this much potential.

QUESTIONS?  I know you have them!  Call the owner, Joe Widmeyer, at 980-581-0732, and he will be glad to talk to you.

This car has a clear, clean title ready to go.  Local pick-up only.  Will be glad to assist shippers in loading the car.  Sold as-is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied.

Sold with a modest reserve, so bid to own it!

New Lincoln Nautilus teased with massive interior screens

Fri, Apr 14 2023

The next-generation Lincoln Nautilus is officially slated for reveal on Monday, April 17, according to a teaser video just released on Lincoln’s social media channels. LincolnÂ’s mid-size two-row SUV is definitely due for a big update, and one look at the teaser suggests weÂ’re getting exactly that. Instead of giving us a glimpse of the exterior, Lincoln trained the camera inside. The video appears to be of a welcome lighting sequence played over multiple massive screens, starting on a central infotainment screen and then transitioning to additional displays further up on the dashboard. The pattern of dancing light then appears to reach out of the screen and onto the door panels where strips of physical LED lights are “lit” by the light transitioning from the screens. The whole sequence is rather dramatic, but it allows us a glimpse of whatÂ’s happening inside the new Nautilus. For one, the interior is chock-full of screens. The giant display on the dash appears to stretch from one pillar to another, so weÂ’re looking at a full-width display. An oddly shaped steering wheel can be seen by the light of the screen — it looks more square than round, as the top portion is cut off. Below those top screens, a regular-looking infotainment screen is put front and center. We canÂ’t see much else, but the NautilusÂ’ reveal is coming soon enough, so look out for a debut on Monday next week. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Surprise! More Ford and Lincoln cars found with marijuana

Thu, Jul 27 2017

Ford is starting to have a serious problem on its hands. Today, ABC 7 in Detroit reported that another batch of Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars were found packed with 227 pounds of marijuana. This is a little over a week after Fords in Ohio were found stuffed with marijuana and only about two months after Fords in Minnesota were found full of weed. All of the cars traveled on train from Mexico to their destination. All in, several thousand pounds and several million dollars worth of marijuana has been discovered. According to the report, Immigration and Customs Enforcement found the cars at the Ford Rail Distribution Facility in Woodhaven, Michigan, just south of Ford's world headquarters in Dearborn. ICE became involved after a Ford employee reported the cars to Woodhaven police. It's unclear when and where the cars were packed with marijuana. With the cars in Minnesota, it's believed that the weed was added after leaving the factory but before being loaded on the train. Spare tires were removed and the space was used to smuggle the marijuana. Related Video:

Ford announces two recalls, 442k vehicles affected in North America

Wed, May 27 2015

Ford is announcing two recalls for North American that affect a total of 442,300 vehicles and multiple model lines. The larger campaign covers the possibility of electric power steering systems that can fail in the 2011-2013 Ford Flex, Taurus, Lincoln MKS, and MKT; the 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ; and the 2011 Mercury Milan. This recall affects 422,814 vehicles in North America, including 393,622 in the United States, 25,195 in Canada, and 3,997 in Mexico. According to the company, an intermittent electrical connection can cause the power steering to cut out, although manual steering would still work. Ford knows of four minor accidents from this issue, but there are no injuries. Depending on trouble codes from the vehicle, dealers will either upgrade software for the power steering control module or replace the steering gear. The second recall covers 19,486 examples of the 2015 Ford Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a production date between February 14, 2014, and February 10, 2015 at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Specifically, there are 19,095 of these in the US and 391 in Canada. These pony cars can show elevated underbody temperatures, which can lead to degradation of the fuel tank, fuel vapor lines, and parking brake cable seals. There are no reports of accidents, injuries or fires from this, though. To fix things, dealers will install a better-insulated fuel tank shield, add thermal patches around the tank and parking brake cable, and put thermal wraps around the fuel vapor lines. You can read the specific build dates and locations for the models affected by the power steering issue in Ford's press release below the video.
