*Low Reserve Auction* This is a solid California car that is ready to drive for the summer. This classic is powered by the 430 cu. big block with 320 factory horsepower. This engine spun like a top when I got it but wanted to make sure it was dependable. So the top end was overhauled and there was no piece that didn't get sand blasted or resurfaced. All new hardware was used to compliment the restored block and manifolds. Intake and exhaust manifolds were hot tanked, sand blasted and coated cast gray for that factory look. Since the bottom end of the engine looked good I decided a new urethane main seal and oil pan gasket would only be fitting for this power plant. This engine includes rebuilt heads with all new valves, guides and seats, all new freeze plugs, gaskets, lifters, rebuilt power steering pump, rebuilt AC compressor, new fuel pump, coil, distributor, cap and rotor, 8.8 custom crimped spark plug wires, 600cc Edelbrock carb. with electric choke that hooks up with the original linkage flawlessly. The engine also breathes alot more freely since installing a complete dual exhaust system with aluminized 2 1/4" pipes. The exhaust flows thru two 18" glass packs for a mild classic rumble. The coolant system was not overlooked as I rebuilt the all copper heater core, radiator as well as the water pump. The coolant flows green with all new fittings, hoses (upper/lower radiator and heater hoses) and an upgraded radiator fill neck that takes the guess work out of the factory pressure bottle. The alt., battery, starter, and solenoid are also new with fresh batt. cables and grounds. The new twin v-belts keep the fan cooling the radiator even on hot days. This car was my daily driver for 3 months straight this year and never gave me any trouble. The transmission was a smooth shifter when I bought the car 4 years ago, so I just replaced the seals while the engine was out. The trans. still shifts just as smooth and doesn't leak oil. The brakes work very good with the shoes I put on and the booster works just like it did in 1964. The factory wiring and vacuum lines are all in tact, there is no aftermarket hacks on this wiring. All switches and lights work, including the map light, dome light, gauges, fan blower, cigarette lighters, horn, electric antenna, 6-way power seats, power windows with power wing vents, blinkers, headlights and even has the rare hazard light option from the dealership (not standard equip. until 1966). The power steering pump works the windshield wipers and the new blades on this vehicle just as it was designed to, yes I said power steering fluid. The vacuum options also are all functional including vacuum actuated door locks, tilt steering column, emergency brake with auto release on the shifter and the all important vacuum boosted brakes. This car floats on the suspension, has great alignment, and roars with power when you need it. The interior is in great shape with only a tear in the drivers seat. The glass is in great shape with no cracks. Trim is so important on these oddball Lincolns because costs are very high trying to piece together a nice set, no worries here as the trim is all present inside and out with a great finish on it. The locks are all working with a key for ignition/trunk and one for the door locks. Luckily there are no big rust issues as this is a true California car. This car also has a solid deck lid, which isn't as common as you think (the manufacturer didn't primer the inside of the deck lid panels before welding them together so most rusted from inside out). The bumpers are in good shape with no accidents on them. Then wheels that came with the car were aftermarket so I replaced them with Wheel Vintique factory replacements which were painted gloss black professionally with a clear coat to keep them shinning thru the years. However I have not been able to find a set of hubcaps, but they are still available for this year on the internet. The tires are brand new also with minimal wear on them. The engine case was sanded, sealed and painted while the engine was out. The trunk has been undercoated and sealed with new weatherstripping. Cool-tec sound/heat suppressing mat was laid over the undercoated trunk floor. The body on this car is straight with no dents or scratches. This car was painted professionally at the beginning of the year and I have waxed it every time I washed it. It is kept indoors but it would certainly stand up to outdoor storage. The paint is very shinny and always gets compliments as well as having brand new tail light lenses that make this classic sharp. On a technical note this vehicle's carb. was tuned for 94 ft. above sea level, so it might have to be adjusted to meet your altitude conditions. Also the timing is retarded a few degrees to compensate for the lower octane fuels available at the pump these days (this engine was originally designed to run 100 octane fuel). This vehicle has original black California license plates that come with the car if it is sold in California but if it is a out of state sale, I will retain the black plates (no sense in turning in those historical plates to your local DMV). Still with the car is the original owner's manual. This vehicle is owned by me alone and is free and clear of any liens, my registration is current and has no back fees. I have many dollars, hours and memories in this car and I am sad to see it go, but I have other cars and I can't keep them all unfortunately. I am a straight toward and fair person but I do not have to fire sale this car, so no low ball email please. All the hard work has been done for you on this one and all you have to do is buy and drive. A $500 deposit is do within 24 hrs. of the end of the auction via PayPal. The remaining balance will be paid thru cash in person, money order, or bank transfer. The car will be released immediately with a cash or bank transfer, however I will not release vehicle with money order until 3 business days after check has been cashed to verify it will not be canceled. If the deposit is not received in the timed frame mentioned above, I have the right to terminate the sale if I feel necessary. Shipping is local pickup only and I am willing to work with the shipper to make this transaction as painless as possible. Thank you for your interest.

Ford fixing 130k vehicles in three recalls
Wed, Oct 28 2015Ford is issuing three new safety campaigns that cover a total of 130,801 vehicles in North America, but the company has no reports of accidents, injuries, or fires from any of these issues. The largest of these campaigns covers 128,823 examples of the 2009-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX that are currently registered or originally sold in rust-prone areas of North America, including 110,636 in the US. On these crossovers, "corrosion under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" can potentially result in a fuel leak. To fix the issue, dealers will inspect the tank and will repair or replace it as necessary. The affected locations are: Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin; and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec. Ford is also recalling 1,906 North American examples of the 2016 Mustang, including 1,900 in the US, because of possible damage to some components during shipping to the factory. On the affected pony cars, "dealers will replace front and rear seat belt assemblies, rear seat buckle assemblies, and child tethers," the company says in its statement. Finally, the smallest campaign is for 72 units of the 2016 Ford E-Series cutaway and chassis cab in North America, including 65 in the US. On these, the trailer brakes don't activate when pressing the brake pedal, and dealers need to update the powertrain control module software. 2018 Lincoln Navigator First Drive | From black sheep to flagship
Mon, Oct 30 2017This is Lincoln's flagship. It's the most luxurious, comfortable and expensive vehicle the brand sells. It's quite obviously the biggest and heck, like every Lincoln flagship of yesteryear, it even features body-on-frame construction. Crucially, though, this all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator is also very good. It's distinctive, capable, and competent in ways that will stand up well in the upper echelon of the SUV hierarchy. And we'll get this out of the way now: it's far superior to its primary competitor, the Cadillac Escalade. And yet, the Navigator's flagship status is a comeback story. It wasn't too long ago that it was a black sheep confined to the distant back row of Lincoln family promotional photos along with the Town Car and a fichus added for decoration. It was never given one of the new-fangled MK names, and its V8-powered, truck-based status made it a thirsty dinosaur at a time of rising gas prices and an increasing number of crossovers. Livery services bought them in black-painted droves, but it was otherwise forgotten even as a substantive refresh for 2015 arguably made it a better, more practical bet than its Caddy nemesis. Like its predecessor, and indeed every Navigator since the second generation dawned for 2007, the third-generation 2018 model features an independent rear suspension rather than the live axle in GM's SUVs. First and foremost, this reaps benefits for those sitting in the third row. Full-sized adults enjoy an abundance of room back there on par (or perhaps even better) than a minivan. There's a USB port on each side, the seatbacks power recline and its three seat belts allow for an eight-passenger max. There's even enough room behind the raised third-row for creatively stacked suitcases. Compare this to a regular-wheelbase Escalade with its third row stuck to the sky-high floor; its occupants' knees jammed against the second row and/or stuck into their own chins. It's a wasteland back there, but to be fair, not much worse than an Infiniti QX80 or Lexus LX 570. Yes, the extended-wheelbase Escalade ESV helps, but there's still less space than the standard Navigator. In fact, the Navigator L model offers the exact same third-row – only the cargo area behind it expands. That rear suspension also pays dividends in the ride and handling department.
The Lincoln Blackwood was the original luxury pickup. It was also weird.
Fri, Mar 19 2021As the 20th century drew to a close, Lincoln's mainstay product, the venerable Town Car, was well on its way to livery-car limbo and the brand's sales were sinking. The surprise-hit Navigator, introduced for 1998, indicated a possible way forward: luxury trucks. The following year, Lincoln rolled out a concept (pictured at bottom) that was essentially a dolled-up F-150 pickup: the Blackwood. Reaction was sufficiently enthusiastic that the Blackwood appeared in showrooms, essentially unchanged, for 2002. Luxo-trucks are now all the rage, but Lincoln's attempts to make the Blackwood truly special tripped up this pioneering pickup, which was canceled after just one year. That means this 2002 Blackwood for sale right now on Cars and Bids presents a rare opportunity. Lincoln grafted a Navigator nose onto an F-150 body, and if they had stopped there, the Blackwood might have fared better. But Lincoln went further. Motivation was provided by a 5.4-liter InTech V8 with 300 horsepower driving the rear wheels. Four-wheel drive wasn't offered, because Lincoln didn't want to raise the ride height. Air springs supplemented the rear leaf springs. The interior was stuffed with all manner of Navigator-spec luxury gear, with leather, heated and cooled seats, power-adjustable pedals, and even an early navigation system — which was the only option. Seating was strictly for four thanks to the rear captain's chairs. As if adorning it with faux African wedgewood and aluminum inlays wasn't distinctive enough, the cargo bed became a cargo trunk thanks to the standard, power-operated hard tonneau cover. Inside, the floor was carpeted, the sides were brushed aluminum, and the space was illuminated by LED accent lighting. Rather than a drop-down tailgate, access was via a pair of Dutch doors. To align with the nameplate, the only color offered was Gunslinger Black with a black interior. To maintain exclusivity, Lincoln planned to cap sales at 10,000 units. That provided wholly unnecessary, as sales only reached 3,356. Lincoln pulled the plug after one year. The 2020 asking price was $52,500 (roughly $77,000 today). The truck for sale on Cars and Bids is sure to go for less, although bidding is pretty strong out of the gate. It currently sits at $8989 with six days to go in the auction.
