In the mid-90s the car was sold out of the West Coast and was then repainted black  in Minnesota . I purchased this car about 2 years ago and had gathered a few extra parts in plan to restore it, but I have a 1957 and am planning on restoring that car instead. The car is currently located at my home in Poolesville, MD 20837. Feel free to call and see when you can stop by and see it in person. Again this is a nice car, especially the no rot factor, but it needs a lot of things to bring the 35-75k price that I have seen at auction.

This car has a lot of positives being that it's a Western car with a very solid body panels and a rock solid frame. The car runs and drives and is what I would call a "driver quality car" with lots of potential. You could drive this car home assuming you have proper insurance and tags.
I know that this car is not perfect, but it a very good car to start a restoration with. That is why I have held onto it, as restoring it was my intention.
Mechanically the engine sounds very good and the transmission is working well.
I will help with any type of shipping or can drive the car to the Port of Baltimore if you are an International buyer.

Here are some key points about this Continental:

  • Air Conditioned car
  • AC compressor is fine, but the system needs service
  • Super dry Western car
  • Extra parts included such as correct jack, radio, front upper bumper guards (lower portions are listed on eBay currently if you'd like to purchase them), extra pieces of glass to replace (including a nice front windshield I will pack and put inside the car for new buyer )
  • Recently rebuilt working wiper motor installed last year (Ficken Wiper)
  • Lights work (can be seen in photos)
  • Working horn
  • Hubcaps are about an 8 out 10 with 10 being the best
  • Michelin tires are in very nice condition
  • Has incorrect radio cassette player, but it does work and is perfectly fine for use (but I will supply a correct Lincoln core to rebuild)
  • Nice rear inner rockers while car is on lift  (please see pictures)
  • The front and rear seats have been redone in leather.
  • Car was garaged in Minnesota from mid-90s and I have stored in inside as well.
  • The car was originally white. the engine bay was never done
  • If there is anything I missed, please email me as I do have a lot of extra parts.
  • paint is presentable

Things that need attention on this car:

  • Windows do not work
  • Odometer does not work
  • Front windshield has a crack in the upper center (needs replaced, but I am supplying a nice windshield with the purchase of this car)
  • AC system
  • Put in the new front windshield and rear passenger side glass that I have supplied

My phone number is 301-672-1000. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the car.
For my business I focus mainly on Cadillacs. Please check out my About Me page.

2013-2017 Ford Explorer recalled over rear suspension issue, again

Wed, Nov 4 2020

Ford is recalling about 375,000 Explorer SUV models built between 2013 and 2017 in North America to fix a potential defect in the rear suspension. In "North America states and provinces where corrosion is common," which we take to mean areas that experience harsh winters and heavily salted roads, "a fracture of the outboard section of the rear suspension toe link" is possible on affected vehicles. Ford says 350,000 of these models were sold in the United States and another 25,200 in Canada. This isn't the first time Explorers of this generation have been recalled for fractured toe links. Back in the summer of 2017, 1.2 million Explorer models were recalled over toe links that could fracture if subjected to "frequent full rear suspension articulation (jounce and rebound)." A little over a year earlier, 75,000 Explorers were recalled over, you guessed it, rear toe links that may not have been welded properly. It's not just Explorers that Ford has recalled over rear toe links. Earlier this year, the automaker issued a recall that covered nearly 230,000 Ford Flex, Taurus and Lincoln MKT models. All of these recalled vehicles ride on similar unibody underpinnings that Ford calls the D4 platform. We can't say whether these other D4-based vehicles will get another recall as the Explorer has. Ford says it is aware of as many as 13 crashes and six injuries attributable to the toe links covered under this most recent Explorer recall. Owners will need to visit their preferred dealership, which will "complete a torque inspection of the cross-axis ball joint and replace it as necessary," according to Ford. Related Video:

Ford recalls 382k vehicles across six campaigns

Wed, Sep 30 2015

Ford needs to repair a total of 381,633 vehicles in North America across six newly announced campaigns, including five safety recalls and one compliance recall. By far the largest of these campaigns covers the 342,271 examples of the 1998-2003 Windstar to double check an earlier recall repair. Among these, 283,413 are in the US and 58,858 are in Canada. The combination of corrosion and stress can cause cracks in the rear axle and eventually lead to the part to snap completely. The company reports a small number of accidents might be connected to this, but there are no injuries. The minivans were recalled for this issue back in 2010, and it was investigated by NHTSA. According to Ford's latest announcement, the reinforcement brackets on some of these models might not have been installed correctly. This time, dealers will perform an inspection. Minivans with incorrectly installed brackets will get a new rear axle. The rest of the owners will be offered a deal to replace the part at a reduced cost. The next largest campaign covers 36,857 examples of the 2015 F-150 to fix a problem with the adaptive cruise control. Specifically, there are 33,481 affected trucks in the US, and 3,376 in Canada. According to Ford, "when passing a large, highly reflective truck" the radar in the system can misidentify a semi as being in the same lane as the pickup. The collision warning system would then activate, slowing the F-150. There's one report of an accident with this happening but no injuries. The fix is simply an update to the adaptive cruise control module software. Ford also has a recall for 1,477 examples of its 2016 F-53 and F-59 stripped chassis models, and they're all located in the US. A manufacturing issue might allow the trucks to shift into reverse without the driver first applying the brakes. There are no reports of any accidents from this, though. To repair the problem, the models get a new transmission shift control bracket and an adjustment to the shift cable. The Blue Oval's safety compliance recall covers 708 examples of the 2016 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, including 658 of them in the US, 28 in Canada, and 22 in Mexico. On these models, a manufacturing problem with the fuel tank could allow it to crack in a crash, which isn't allowed under federal rules. There are no reports of accidents, injuries or fires. The fix will be a new fuel tank for all of them. The company is also repairing 251 units of the 2015 Taurus and Lincoln MKS, plus the 2016 Explorer.

2020 Lincoln Aviator Black Label Interior Driveway Test | The best American luxury

Wed, Sep 30 2020

It seems safe to say that Lincoln has finally managed to brush off its "fancy Ford" reputation. Nothing illustrates this better than Black Label, Lincoln’s range-topping trim level that elevates its various models' style, status and, of course, price. We recently found ourselves with a 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring (the plug-in hybrid) in Black Label trim, and decided it was time for a deeper look at what this trim gives you in LincolnÂ’s three-row crossover. In case youÂ’re new to Black Label, youÂ’ll need to know that Lincoln organizes the options into “themes.” For the Aviator, you have the choice of Flight (tan and black), Destination (a deep red featured in our Black Label Interior Tour video), and the Chalet (brown and cream) theme fitted to our test car. HereÂ’s how Lincoln describes it: “Chalet offers Espresso and Alpine Savannah leathers and deep Silverwood appliques, with touches designed to awaken the senses.” The colors and trims used are supposed to remind of long weekends in the Swiss Alps. ItÂ’s all a bit colorful and over the top, but Black Label is supposed to be exactly that. Despite being festooned with modern tech and features, the Aviator is remarkably old world in styling. Lincoln isnÂ’t trying to be a sporty American BMW like Cadillac has. Instead, Lincoln created its own identity and brand of American luxury, differentiating itself from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus and others in doing so. Lincoln put together an interior layout that makes sense and doesnÂ’t alienate older, less tech-inclined buyers (you know, the demographic who not only typically buy Lincolns, but high-priced luxury cars in general). Sure, thereÂ’s a big 10-inch touchscreen perched above the air vents, but there are also physical buttons for all your climate controls and audio controls. You can adjust these systems through the screen, as well, but we think easy and safe toggles like these still deserve a place in cars. TheyÂ’re especially welcome when surrounded by expensive-feeling trim and backed by the pretty Silverwood.  WeÂ’re less fond of the button gear shifter, but at least itÂ’s not confusing and is something anybody could learn to live with. It also does a decent job of staying out of the way and leaving more space for storage. Lincoln gives you plenty of that in this crossover, too. A couple premium pull doors in the center console open to reveal USB ports, cupholders and a place to slot your phone.
