HERE IS A VERY UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL AUTOMOBILE: IT IS UNIQUE BECAUSE IT HAS THE VINYL ROOF FACTORY DELETE!!  IT NEVER HAD ONE WHICH I BELIEVE MAKES IT CLASSICALLY BEAUTIFUL AND TOTALLY RUST FREE BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF THE MARK V'S RUST BADLY UNDER THE OPERA WINDOWS AND GENERALLY UNDER THE WHOLE VINYL ROOF.IT ALSO HAS SOME OF THE RARE OPTIONAL ITEMS SUCH AS THE CB RADIO, GARAGE DOOR OPENER ON THE VISOR, LUMBAR SEAT CONTROL,MILES TO EMPTY GUAGE WHICH WORKS,AM/FM QUADRASONIC ELECTRONIC 8 TRACK RADIO WITH DEALER TAPE,  AND TRAILER TOW . IT DOES NOT HOWEVER HAVE THE MINIVENT WINDOWS OR MOONROOF OPTIONS.

I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 15 YEARS, HAVING PURCHASED IT FROM THE SECOND OWNER WHO PURCHASED IT FROM HIS BUDDY WHEN IT WAS A COUPLE OF YEARS OLD. WHEN I BOUGHT IT, IT HAD BEEN INSIDE STORAGE FOR 11 YEARS. EVERYTHING WAS DOUBLE COVERED! MATS ON TOP OF MATS AND BLANKETS ON TOP OF BLANKETS OVER THE SEATS AND IN THE TRUNK. SO ALL OF THE SEATS, CARPETS AND TRUNK ARE PRISTINE. IT HAS OF COURSE ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW HERE IN CALIFORNIA.

HERE ARE A FEW MORE BITS OF INFORMATION FOR YOU: I PUT IN A FACTORY NOS PRESS MOULDED ORIGINAL HOOD PAD A FEW YEARS AGO WHICH IS EXTREMELY RARE AND STILL LOOKS NEW. I HAD THE DOUBLE STRIPE TIRES MADE TO ORDER AND THERE IS A FACTORY SPARE TO MATCH IN THE TRUNK. I DID THE BRAKES AND CALIPERS AND THEY WERE DETAILED AT THE TIME. THE WHOLE BOTTOM OF THE CAR WAS NEVER UNDERCOATED AND IS PRISTINE WITH NO RUST!. I HAVE DETAILED MOST OF IT, BUT PROBABLY NEEDS A DAY TO FRESHEN IT UP. I DID NOT UNERCOAT OR PAINT ANYTHING BLACK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. THE REAR ENDS AND GAS TANKS ON THESE CARS WERE NATURAL!!!!! NOT PAINTED!!!!!!!!!

THE PAINT IS THE ORIGINAL FACTORY APPLIED PAINT IN PERFECT CONDITION. THERE ARE NO DINGS , DENTS OR PIMPLES. THE HAND PAINTED DARK RED STRIPE FROM THE FACTORY IS PERFECT. ALL OF THE DIE CAST IS ORIGINAL , WITH NO PITTING AND NO CRAZING. BOTH FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS AND GUARDS WERE TRIPLE PLATED SHOW CHROMED. 2 OF THE WHEEL MOULDINGS HAD A COUPLE OF DINGS, SO I HAD THEM STRAIGHTENED, POLISHED AND RE-ANODIZED. HOWEVER THOSE TWO MADE THE OTHERS LOOK LIKE THEY WERE CRAZED, SO I HAD THEM ALL DOME AND THEY ARE GORGEOUS!  I ALSO PUT IN A BRAND NEW MOTORCRAFT BATTERY.

THIS CAR ALWAYS DID 96-98 POINTS BY THE LCOC (LINCOLN AND CONTINENTAL OWNER'S CLUB). IT WILL NOW START BACK AS A BEGINNER AND THE NEW BUYER SHOULD DO WELL.

I AM NOW AGE 73 AND HAVE A LOT OF MEDICAL PROBLEMS. I CANNOT DO MY CAR THING ANY LONGER. MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN. YOU WILL LOVE THIS CAR! IT IS THE BEST MARK V I HAVE EVER OWNED, AND I'VE OWNED QUITE A LOT OF THEM

Ford tweaking Model E dealer program to address dealer concerns

Wed, May 29 2024

Ford's been working on its strategy and sales reorganization for a couple of years, the initiative that created the Blue (ICE), Pro (commercial), and Model E (electric) divisions. On the Model E side, part of continuous reworking of the EV arm has been in response to dealer lawsuits filed in numerous states, since Model E not only stipulated investments of anywhere from $500,000 to $1.2 million, the automaker initially wanted dealers to set no-haggle pricing, offer remote pickup and delivery for service appointments, and build chargers that would operate around-the-clock. Another big part of the tweaks to Model E is the continually unstable ground the entire electric project is built on. As part of understanding what dealers are facing and how to keep the electric wheels turning, Automotive News reports that the automaker held 11 meetings with dealers this year in six cities. Based on the feedback, more changes are coming to Model E as soon as next month.   During the roadshow, Ford told dealers to pause their investments into getting certified for Model E. This directive followed a corporate change in plans as Ford pulled investments in battery-electrics in favor of consumers' choice for hybrids. The head of Ford Blue — the internal-combustion-powered division that, with Ford Pro, has been paying the bills as Model E posts big losses — told AN, "We don't want them to make any decisions between now and the middle of June, when you can maybe have a more informed decision-making process based off what we work out with council in the next few weeks." One change has already been made public, the VP of EV programs telling an AutoNews business conference audience, “What weÂ’re finding is more dealers want to be involved in it and we donÂ’t want to be exclusive to just a handful, and so weÂ’re making a change where weÂ’re opening up that and not requiring as many certifications or investments for a dealer to participate in the EV revolution." Don't take that comment as a revelation; since the beginning, dealers complained about being excluded and needing to throw so much money at the program. Take that comment as Ford needing to find a better way in the "rapidly changing" environment. The official list of updates won't come until next month, when Ford meets its dealer council, and it should touch on topics beyond EVs.

Living Life Large: Driving $2 million worth of cars in one week

Mon, Aug 24 2015

Monterey Car Week has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year. There's something for everyone – classic car shows, modern concepts and new vehicle debuts, auctions, racing, and so much more. From a media perspective, there's also a chance to drive a ton of cars. Many automakers bring their latest wares out to Monterey for us to test during our limited free time, and it's a great opportunity to experience fantastic metal against a gorgeous backdrop. That's exactly what I did this year. Instead of flying into Monterey and being driven around, my journey started in Los Angeles and ended in Napa, and I managed to get behind the wheel of some $2 million worth of new cars. Some were old favorites, and many were new experiences. But looking back, this was one of the best weeks of driving I've had in years. Rather than try to come up with some common arc to tie these cars together, here are my notes on all the cars I tested in California earlier this month, presented in the order in which they were driven. 2016 Mazda CX-3 The CX-3 pictured here isn't the exact one I drove in California, but it's close. The only difference was color – my delivered-to-LAX tester wore Mazda's awesome new Ceramic hue (pictured below on the MX-5 Miata). I used the CX-3 to slum through crummy Los Angeles traffic for two hours on the way out to Santa Barbara, with a quick stop at In-N-Out Burger on the way for good measure. A lot nicer inside than I remember. Everyone praises Mazda for its excellence in engineering and design, but there's a lot to be said for the improvements in overall interior refinement. Quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped; the CX-3 made sitting on the 405 freeway a lot more pleasant. Not all that functional. I had a hard time fitting a week's worth of luggage for two people inside. The cargo area and rear passenger compartment were filled, with only enough room on top to see out the back window. A Honda HR-V would've swallowed all that luggage with plenty of room for more. So good to drive. Not surprising, since this wasn't my first time in the CX-3. I knew this CUV would be good on twisty roads, but on the highway it's really exceptional. Road and wind noise are minimal and the overall ride quality is a comfortable sort of sporty. This is definitely something I could drive every day – it's enjoyable during commuting and entertaining on more interesting roads.

Lincoln Aviator returns, VW ponders pickups, and Subaru Forester endures

Mon, Apr 2 2018

NEW YORK – Volkswagen is taking a hard look at a pickup truck, the Lincoln Aviator is back, and you love old Subarus (we'll explain). The New York Auto Show returned last week with flair and a wide range of promising reveals. Let's break down some of the big news, plus a few things you might have missed. News: Ford is fortifying Lincoln with the Aviator SUV Views: Doing a mid-size SUV is obvious. Calling it the Aviator wasn't. I like it. Using Navigator design cues, this thing looks the part and should give Lincoln some energy and sales volume. Not playing in the midsize SUV segment has been a mistake for Ford's luxury brand, and the Aviator should fill a much-needed hole. Props to Lincoln for dusting off the Aviator name, most recently used on a rebadged Ford Explorer built in 2003-2005. It sounds classy and historic, like something from 1930s, even though it only dates to the tail end of the " Friends" era. Speaking of names, when the MKC gets a new one, Lincoln should dust off Zephyr, a moniker it actually used in the '30s and then briefly in the early 2000s. Why use the Aviator name? Jim Farley, Ford's president of global markets, said it's about reminding consumers that Ford has traditionally built strong SUVs. "I think in a way the legacy is falling in love with what we do best," he said. "We wanted to go back to our roots. We know how to do this well." Farley also said the Aviator could prove to be Lincoln's bestseller. The Aviator was well-received in New York, earning our Best in Show award and garnering cautiously optimistic reactions from some analysts. "Lincoln ran this experiment once before ... differences in the market conditions, stronger differentiation and appetite for utility vehicles may prove a different story for this Aviator," IHS analyst Stephanie Brinley said. View 19 Photos News: VW surprised the car world with the Atlas Tanoak pickup concept Views: Good move. VW should build this. The concept is based on a longer version of the Atlas platform and would take aim at the midsize truck segment. VW is using this prototype to "gauge the reactions" of automotive influencers, but make no mistake, the Tanoak is totally doable. Using Atlas bones and mechanicals punched up with rugged styling and some soft-road capability, the Tanoak would grow VW's portfolio in a smart way. The Atlas Cross Sport concept, also revealed in New York, signals that Atlas expansion is already underway.
