This actually was Grandma's car! She purchased it new from the Ford/Lincoln dealership in Brush, Colorado. She drove it for just a little over 62,000 over the next 37 years and kept it in her garage in Ft. Morgan, CO when she wasn't driving it. This car is very clean with minimal wear, especially for a 38 year old car. The rear seat belts are still in the factory wrappers and it doesn't appear that anyone ever rode back there!

This very original Mark IV is equipped with the Optional Gold Luxury Group package. The paint color is the Bronze Gold Diamond Fire Metallic (Code No. 54) which was available only with this optional package. The body and paint are in very good condition. Photos do not do the paint color justice; with a fresh wash it absolutely gleams! The top is the Gold Normande Grain vinyl top (Code No L4). The top does have surface blems (nothing through into the car) and should be reconditioned or replaced for the car to be perfect. The car is set off very nicely by its factory option Forged Aluminum wheels and whitewall tires.

The luxurious interior is in Tan Leather with Saddle Leather Cross Straps (Code No. DU) and is also in very good condition: all seats, carpets, dash, dash top, headliner. door panels, etc.. There is no evidence that the car was ever smoked in.

If you look closely or enlarge the photos you will see many distinctive styling details befitting this luxury flagship model such as the Gold Package pin-striping that runs the length of the vehicle; the Continental logos on the oval opera windows and mirrors; the Continental hood ornament; the iconic "Continental Spare" styling of the rear trunk lid, etc.. This is a very handsome car!

This car is in very good condition overall. It readily starts and runs and drives very well and has always been well maintained. Tires, brakes, engine, transmission, AC, all systems work well.  The car has its original owners manual, jack, full spare, etc..

As this is a used car there is No Warranty expressed or implied. Besides the vinyl top needing attention to be perfect, we note that the trim pieces that run along the top of the doors have some small blems as well Other than those, the car has very few blems or scratches, etc.. The body and undercarriage are very straight and there is no evidence that the car was ever hit or wrecked. We welcome your personal inspection or one by your agent prior to auction close.

We are a small vintage and collector car dealer located in Lyons, CO (no the car was not flooded!). We have based our business on forthright and honest business dealings and full disclosure as to the condition of any car we sell. It is important to us that all of our customers are satisfied with the cars they purchase from us and we have excellent references. You may call me at 303-931-5280 with any questions or use the messaging link here on eBay. We are glad to coordinate shipping of the car for you as we are experienced with having cars shipped worldwide; shipping is at your expense. I would not hesitate to pick up this car and drive it anywhere; you would be cruising in style and comfort! Thank you for viewing this nice Mark IV and for your bids.

Editors' Picks January 2022 | Ford Maverick, Jeep Grand Cherokee and more

Wed, Feb 9 2022

This month, we awarded Editors' Pick awards to a number of totally redesigned, new models. Most notable of the bunch is the 2022 Ford Maverick. Ford took a chance on a new segment, and its execution is as close to perfect as we could hope for. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a worthy competitor, though, and was also named an Editors' Pick. Also in this list, we have the redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's an excellent SUV, and it's only going to get better when the plug-in hybrid 4xe model hits the roads. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in January that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Quick take: Jeep's midsize SUV hits it out of the park with the latest generation. We could stand to see some powertrain innovation, but the Grand Cherokee's premium proposition is sound. Score: 8.0 What it competes with: Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Edge, Chevrolet Blazer, Nissan Murano Pros: Highly capable, luxurious interior, choices aplenty Cons: Pricey, fuel economy From the editors Associate Editor, Byron Hurd — "Jeep did almost everything right with the redesigned Grand Cherokee. Its powertrain offerings are fairly unremarkable, but the new two-row 4xe will go a long way toward addressing that. It's an otherwise fantastic, modern, luxurious Jeep SUV." In-depth analysis: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee First Drive Review | 1 fewer row, 1 more touchscreen   2022 Ford Maverick Quick take: The Ford Maverick offers tremendous value, efficiency, incredibly well-thought-out packaging, plenty of storage, a fairly engaging drive and ease of use, all with the utility of a pickup bed. We like the hybrid, but the EcoBoost engine and FX4 package offer more capability. Score: 8 What it competes with: Hyundai Santa Cruz Pros: Very affordable, Hybrid fuel economy, compact size Cons: Tight backseat, FWD only Hybrid, no cruise control in base trim From the editors: Green, Senior Editor John Beltz Snyder — "The Maverick is simply a dynamite package. It's smart, useful, drivable, efficient, providing affordable utility in the underserved compact pickup segment.

J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.

Junkyard Gem: 1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V

Mon, Feb 27 2017

For the 1977 model year, Ford debuted the new Lincoln Continental Mark V, one of the biggest of the personal luxury coupes that were all the rage during the era. While 400 pounds lighter than its Mark IV predecessor, the Mark V was still a thirsty, 4,652-pound symbol of American exceptionalism. Here's an example of a first-year Mark V, spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard. If we are to judge from the sun-baked interior, top-down rust, and moss growing on the bodywork, this car spent at least 20 years decaying outdoors before coming here. Still, flashes of its original opulence may be seen here and there. For example, the Cartier clock (which probably failed by about 1983). There were Cartier Edition Mark Vs (along with Givenchy and Pucci versions), but all the Mark Vs got the Cartier clocks. With the 1973 Oil Crisis just a few years behind and the 1979 Oil Crisis a couple of years ahead, some attempt to improve fuel economy was needed in the engine compartment. This car has the 400-cubic-inch version of the 351 Cleveland V8, rated at 179 woefully inadequate horsepower and 329 good-enough pound-feet of torque. Outside of California, the 208-horse 460-cubic-inch V8 was an option. These cars were very comfortable on the highway, with their soft springs and cushy seats. No, the wood isn't real. Worth restoring? No way, not when you can find nice one-owner examples for four figures. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. "To its owner, Continental Mark V is more than a new car. It's a Mark of tradition." Related Video: Featured Gallery Junked 1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V View 25 Photos Auto News Lincoln Luxury
