For Auction is a 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car.  This car is very good shape with original paint, engine, and all trim.  I have driven this car for about a year and love to drive it.  It runs very well and glides down the street.  I get a lot of comments from people of all ages.  It really does catch attention.

The car was bought brand new and owned locally for the first 30 years of its life.  Then it was purchased by someone that wanted to just have it for a cruiser, but never took it out to cruise.  I have had it now for about 15 months.  The car has been taken care of and still runs great.

The GOOD!

Everything works.  8 track, AM/FM Stereo, power antenna, power windows, power seats, cruise control, vacuum power head light covers (both open on close, no winking), rear defroster, heater, wipers, inside side mirror adjustments.  All exterior and interior lights work.  The only option that is not currently fully working is the A/C.  The compressor was changed at some point and a switch was inserted under the dash.  The belt has been removed.  The compressor works, but I believe it needs to be charged.

The engine runs very well for its age.  It should have a tune up and could use some carb work done to it.  I have only ever changed out a coolant hose since I have owned it.

The transmission is great.  There is no slipping and it shifts very nicely.

Tires are almost brand new and it comes with a matching spare that has never been used.

All the glass is in good shape with no chips or cracks.

Paint still shines with the exception of the hood area.

All chrome and stainless is in good shape and will shine nicely.

The NOT SO GOOD...

Paint is thin on the hood and trunk areas.  Not bad yet, but noticeable.

The vinyl half top has some hail damage to it.  You can see it in the pictures.

There are a few places where paint has chipped off, but has not rusted.  Namely on the fender skirts.

The front bumper has a dent in it.  It was there when I bought it...I have no idea how it came to be.

The back bumper has a dent in it.  I put it there.  The car is long so backing up can be a challenge in a tight spot when a pole jumps out behind you.

There is an area where the paint has been rubbed off by the passenger side tail light.  I believe this happened when someone was not paying attention and they grazed the car with their bumper backing out of the next parking spot.  Like I said...the car is very long.

Carb work as mentioned above.  It is hard on gas...about 8 miles to the gallon.  When it is warm it will diesel a little bit.  It starts again right away..but I have never had time to have it looked at.

There is dual exhaust on this car.  This car never came with catalytic converters so there are none.  Both mufflers need to be replaced.  One is completely blown out. (it set the car alarm off on the car sitting next to me).  The pipes are in good shape but they are not shiney new.  As far as I have seen they are not loose nor full of rust holes.

The interior is leather and is cracked in places, but over all it would clean up nicely.  The headliner is nice is tight.

**There is no body rust on this car!!!!

I have included some pictures.  If you want something specific, just let me know.

PayPal only.  Auction price does not include a reserve and does include shipping or transport charges.

Please ask any and all questions before bidding.

2022 Lincoln Navigator revealed with tech updates, hands-free driving, new Black Label themes

Wed, Aug 18 2021

Last week, Lincoln Motor Company teased its updated, enhanced and even more upscale Navigator SUV for the 2022 model year. Today, Ford’s luxury brand has unveiled this mid-cycle refresh with improved technology — including the Lincoln ActiveGlide hands-free driving system and over-the-air software updates — plus two new available themes for the line-topping Black Label trim level. Starting with tech, Lincoln launches the first iteration of its ActiveGlide advanced driver assistance tech, which, like FordÂ’s new BlueCruise technology, allows for hands-free highway driving if the right conditions are met. It leverages adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, lane centering and traffic sign recognition to allow for hands-free driving on over 130,000 miles of divided highways across North America. Similar to GMÂ’s Super Cruise system, ActiveGlide monitors the driverÂ’s head and eye positions with a driver-facing camera to unsure their attention remains on the road ahead of them, ready to take over driving functions if need be. The 2022 Navigator also employs Lincoln Enhance, which is the branded name for its over-the-air software update capability. This allows Lincoln to make improvements, install new features and even provide some preventative maintenance without it needing to be brought in for service. Lincoln promises this allows the “Navigator to get even better over time.” This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Lincoln says it has streamlined its Amazon Alexa experience to respond to more natural language. You can use Alexa in the car the way you normally would with the digital assistant, or you can connect the Lincoln Way app for Alexa to control certain car features — locks, remote start, checking on vehicle status — from your Alexa-enabled home or mobile device. The 2022 Navigator also benefits from AmazonÂ’s Fire TV service for the rear-seat entertainment. It even includes 16 GB of built-in storage so you can watch your favorite Prime Video content on the road without connectivity. ThereÂ’s an updated Sync 4 infotainment system with a larger 13.2-inch center screen, improved voice recognition and navigation, and a Constellation design theme that carries over to the digital instrument cluster and the refreshed head-up display. In the second row, occupants now have a digital control module for rear climate and audio settings.

Hot-selling Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator get production boost

Mon, Feb 12 2018

Ford is investing an additional $25 million in its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville to increase by 25 percent production of the hot-selling and all-new Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs. The investment adds to $900 million in previously announced spending at the plant, which also builds F-Series Super-Duty pickups and employs 8,400 workers. Assembly-line workers are putting in overtime and working voluntary weekend shifts to keep up with demand. The new investment will cover upgrades to the assembly line but does not involve further hiring, Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker says. The popularity of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator is a bright spot as Ford stock has been battered by Wall Street amid concerns concerns about the automaker's future vision and slowness to detect trends. Ford says the investment is an example of its bid to improve "operational fitness," one of CEO Jim Hackett's common refrains. Ford says Navigator retail sales more than doubled in January, and Navigators are spending an average of just seven days on Lincoln dealership lots as customers trade in vehicles including Land Rovers and Mercedes-Benz. Nearly 85 percent of buyers are opting for high-end Black Label and Reserve trim packages, contributing to an average transaction price increase of more than $21,000 in January compared to a year ago. The 2018 Navigator won the North American Truck of the Year award and also topped a Detroit News poll of public favorites at last month's Detroit Auto Show. Sales of the Expedition, meanwhile, were up almost 57 percent last month as the full-size SUVs also spent an average of just a week on dealer lots. Platinum trim models represented 29 percent of sales, pushing transaction price increases up $7,800. Ford gave the 2018 Expedition an all-aluminum body to save mass in its first significant redesign since 2007. The plant last year got nearly 400 new robots, mainly in the body shop, to help increase line speed, and Ford added a robot lab where employees can test software tweaks or troubleshoot issues away from the factory floor. The Louisville plant also benefits from extensive new data analytics, with seven big-screen monitors providing minute-by-minute updates showing progress against hourly targets or alerting workers to pending parts shortages. A huge spare-parts "vending machine" lets workers more quickly locate needed parts and keep inventory at necessary levels.

Is Lincoln MKC cutting into Cadillac SRX sales?

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

The two big American luxury brands of Cadillac and Lincoln are on surprisingly similar paths at the moment with both divisions hoping to redefine themselves and grow popularity. They're still early in the process with no clear winner yet, but things might actually be looking up for Lincoln's latest model, according to a monthly sales analysis from The Motley Fool. It seems, at least early on, that the new MKC crossover might be taking a bite out of the Cadillac SRX's growth.
The MKC launched just a few months ago and has been getting a big marketing push from a series of oft-mocked ads starring the smooth-talking Matthew McConaughey. The luxury CUV has been the popular, new kid on the block with growing sales since its introduction. While smaller than the SRX, the Lincoln starts at a lower price and offers better fuel economy.
Through June, the SRX performed well with sales up over 20 percent on average through June, according to The Motley Fool. However, July and August saw things plummet with year-over-year drops of 7 percent and 37 percent, respectively. It still far outsold the MKC in terms of actual units in a given month, but the Caddy's continued growth has appeared to stagnate.
