1962 Lincoln Continental

Up for auction is my beautiful 1962 Lincoln Continental. Perfect example of an original California rust-free classic that's never left the state. I am only the 3rd registered owner to the car and I purchased it from the son of the original owner here in Orange County (it still has the matching set of CA black plates). This Lincoln sat covered in a warehouse for almost 3 decades before being restored. Aside from the paint and new upholstery everything is very much original and in great shape. Even the dash pad and steering wheel are from factory and have no cracks which is very rare for a 50+ year old Lincoln. All the chrome and stainless steel trim is original to the car and nothing has been re-chromed, it's still in excellent condition since the car has always been stored indoors. Nothing is missing on the car and everything looks just as it should. These Lincolns are getting harder to find each year and expecially in this condition.

The car had the original 430 engine and C-6 trans rebuilt back in 2006 and now have about 30k miles since the rebuild. I just had the carburator rebuilt last month, rebuilt power steering pump and gear box (3 months ago), full exhaust system replaced just last month, and installed a new red top Optima battery. It's already been converted from a generator to an alternator setup. Car runs excellent and feels like you're riding on a cloud at any speed. Engine bay is very clean and some of the parts have been powdercoated like the valve covers and air cleaner. The suspension, power steering, and power brakes all work perfect and it drives with great ease for such a large car. The front end was dropped 3 inches with custom lowering springs made specially for this car, rear has air shocks that can be raised or lowered to your desired height. Even though the car sits lower than stock it still feels like a factory Lincoln on the road unlike cars that have just had the front springs cut and lowering blocks installed in the rear. No squeaks or rattles anywhere and the engine drives very quite as well. All 4 power windows go up and down, interior and exterior lights all work, wipers, turn signals, power seat, ect all work fine. The A/C system has not been recharged in years so it's probably due for a service. Still blows Cool air but needs to be charged to blow Ice-cold again. The interior was all done earlier this year which included front and rear leather seat upholstery, door panels, new wood trim, full carpet, headliner, trunk carpet and custom tire cover with embroidered Lincoln emblem. The car was painted 2 years ago with a nice two stage black paint job that still looks great. There's a couple minor paint imperfections from average use but nothing noticable. Car has all original sheet metal and it has never been in an accident. It's never had any rust issues or metal repairs done to it either. Original glass all around in excellent shape as well.

This beauty turns heads and gets thumbs up wherever we drive it. If you don't like constant attention this car is not for you. I've got a ton of invoices and past service records from over the years including factory service manuals and even the original owners manual from 1962. I've got a clean CA title in hand with current registration under my name. Car is available for inspection by any serious bidder during this auction so feel free to send me a message with your phone number and I will call you to set up an appointment. As all other classic cars it is being sold in AS IS condition and there is no warranty included in this sale. Please ask questions if you are unsure of anything prior to bidding. This is a NO RESERVE listing so the car will go to the highest bidder no matter what. I'm selling the Lincoln to buy a 65' Cobra replica so if you have one that you would like to trade let me know (that is the only car I will consider a trade with). View my feedback and bid with confidence. Thanks for viewing my listing.

Lincoln announces its first EV will be built on Rivian platform

Wed, Jan 29 2020

Confirming months of reports, Lincoln announced that its first fully electric vehicle will be based on the Rivian electric platform. That platform will underpin the Rivian R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV. Lincoln didn't specify whether this EV will be a car, truck or SUV, but all signs point to an SUV. The company highlighted its revamp of crossover and SUV models and how they've helped increase the brand's sales. Rivian's CEO R.J. Scaringe also said previously that it would build an SUV for Lincoln. In that same report, Scaringe noted that the Lincoln electric SUV would launch sometime in 2022, and it would be built at the factory in Illinois where it will also build the R1T and R1S. The R1T and R1S are expected to go into production at the end of 2020. Based on what we know about the Rivians, it could have a range from 230 to 400 miles and output as high as 800 horsepower from a quartet of motors. The production of the Lincoln electric SUV on the Rivian platform in the Rivian factory may also be a factor in Rivian lowering the prices of its vehicles. The base R1T was initially priced around $70,000 and the base R1S at around $72,000. But with the addition of the third Lincoln variant, now has more vehicles to recoup development costs. Ford's Jim Farley hints at Lincoln sales rebound

Thu, 25 Apr 2013

If you're a fan of Lincoln, get ready for "a really great story" come May 1. That's how Ford marketing boss Jim Farley, in a call with analysts, characterized the coming April sales report for the MKZ. At the moment, there are probably few things that the executive VP could want more than a happy ending for the ballyhooed sedan that has made people cry boo-hoo for the past six months.
The massive glass roof of the MKZ is trying to support a burden that would make Atlas tap out, and it hasn't shattered, but it has shown a few cracks. The car we called "a big step in the right direction," the embodiment of the reinvention of the brand and a test of Lincoln's commitment to a new rear-wheel drive offering was given an $8-million dollar Super Bowl ad spend earlier this year, then quality control issues during its assembly scuttled deliveries. Lincoln got over that and kept up the ad blitz, now it just wants the good work to take hold.
If Farley's not leading us on, April could be the month. He said the results (so far) show "the product is being very well-received," inventory is finally where it should be and the MKZ Hybrid is doing better than expected. It bears noting that Lincoln is offering some aggressive incentive programs at the moment, including 0.9-percent APR and $1,000 off for conquest buyers stepping out of competitors' vehicles.

Lincoln Aviator debuts as stylish 3-row crossover with a surprise

Wed, Mar 28 2018

NEW YORK — At a studio in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan, after a walk through an "art gallery" full of inspiration for Lincoln's newest midsize, three-row Aviator crossover, we saw the company's future. That's not breathless hyperbole, either. Lincoln's huge Navigator is selling like gangbusters, but the aging MKT is a sad vestige of the company's last attempt to reinvent itself. The company needs an attractive, well-proportioned three-row with contemporary powertrains to complement the MKC and the larger Nautilus (nee MKX). For those wondering, the MKC is likely to get renamed at its next refresh, and the lousy MK__ naming convention will finally die. But while the names are refreshing, that's not the reason the Aviator is so important. For one, it'll almost certainly lend its underpinnings, which are rear-wheel-drive based, to the next Ford Explorer. The other is that it's an all-important three-row, a conventionally-shaped one rather than the awkward MKT's long, lumpy look. The Aviator — the vehicle we saw is a preview, not a production model, but is extremely close to production — has style and presence. There's more than a bit of Range Rover Velar in the look, but it's not a clone. And the interior is a wonderful interpretation of the larger Navigator's bold, distinctive and purely American look. View 20 Photos While many, many details are unspecified at this stage — including exact engine details, dimensions, and the like — there's enough there to draw some conclusions about the new Aviator. For one, it's got a version of the Navigator's elegant interior. Those Perfect Position seats, also seen in the Continental, covered with soft leather, are central to the Aviator's interior experience. When's the last time beautiful seats were such a selling point? Other than Volvo, no one's put enough attention on unique and particularly comfortable seats. It's a unique selling proposition and, also, a nice aesthetic detail. You could say the same for the dash design: It's low and sleek, with solid but not bulky elements and the sort of tastefulness normally reserved for Scandinavian industrial design. Back to the rear-drive platform and what little else we know of the powertrain. For one, it'll feature a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine with an available plug-in hybrid option. As far as we can tell, both versions will use the same engine, and there are no optional engines outside of this.
