I am selling my 1993 Lexus Coupe SC400 4.0 Liter V8 Quad-cam 32 Valves. NO WARNING lights at all. Gets an average of 20 miles per gallon and is a really fun car to drive. I always run premium gas and so have the previous owners. Ive owned this car for well over a year and a half. Has great power at all RPM and always starts with ease. Currently she has 145,000 miles but it will be higher by end of auction since i don't keep my cars sitting around. Its time for me to upgrade to a newer Lexus, so sadly this one must go so i can have a decent down payment. I have and still enjoy every mile i drive with this Lexus. Recently i took her up north a few times and it handled great even with snow over 7 inches driving up and down hills because of the Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 tires(very expensive and will be included for an extra $500.00) that are like new and only have a few thousand miles on them. Below are some more details:

Good:
-Still have original Lexus SC400 owners manual with Lexus tool kit and Lexus first aid kit.
-Timing Belt and Water Pump were replaced at 135k which cost over $950 (can provide receipts if wanted)
-Doesn't leak or burn any fluids
-Mechanically car is very good and reliable. (have taken her on trips over 600 miles many times)
-ALL Lug nuts have locks so that's 20 locks on this car." no body will take these rims off with out the key, which is included)
-Currently sitting on 18" Nissan 30th Anniversary wheels made by Enkei, Very expensive check online for prices. They retail for $495 a piece so that's about $2000 in just  rims. Same hub size and specs as the Lexus SC400 and fit and ride on  this car like they should have came like this from the factory. Tires are Dunlop SP Winter Sport  M3. Rims  are  staggered , so they are 8 inches wide in front(Tire size 225/45/18) and 8.5 inches wide in the rear(Tire size 245/45/18). Only a few thousand miles on them so  they are still  looking  and feeling like new. One of the tires(NOT RIM) were recently damaged due to a pot hole. They will only be included for an extra $500.00
-If buyer does not want the 18" rims, the car will come with these 16' rims, see pics. They came on the car when i originally had bought it. 16 inch rims with Goodyear Assurance tires, i believe tire size is 225/55/16 all  around.
-Sunroof works great with no leaks
-12 CD changer Premium sound system
-Spare tire and rims like new. was only used once (last week when one of the dunlops got damaged)
-Has aftermarket mufflers but both original mufflers will be included if wanted.

Bad:

- Radio system stopped working, not sure why.
- She is a 1993 so exterior is not show perfect, has small blemishes.
- Interior has little wear
-Very small exhaust leak that had recently occurred.

I do not offer shipping as i am not a company and this is my personal vehicle, but i am willing to drive to drop off car if its not too far please ask me first. If you choose to do so you will have to cover fuel expenses and a return ticket can be by plane or Amtrack.

IF you have any more questions please feel free to call or text me anytime at 248 850 0974 Mark. If i don't answer please leave a Detailed message and i will get back with you ASAP. Thank you for looking and happy bidding.

Japanese earthquakes send ripples through auto industry

Mon, Apr 18 2016

The earthquakes since April 14 in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu are having aftershocks on the US auto industry, particularly for Toyota. The company shut down most of its factories in the country due to parts shortages, and the plants will be closed at least through April 23. "Decisions regarding recommencement of operation at plants in Japan will be made on the basis of availability of parts," the company said in a statement. According to Automotive News, Toyota's closed factories include a vast range of popular models in the US, including the Toyota Prius, Mirai, RAV4, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Lexus ES, LS, IS, GS, RC, NX, RX, GX, and LX. The company's only sites in Japan that are still open build Hino trucks, Daihatsu models, and the Toyota Century limo. Toyota isn't yet sure whether these shutdowns could lead to vehicle shortages in the US. "As you can imagine, we are still reviewing the situation and working to learn more," company spokesperson Aaron Fowles told Autoblog. "While we know that production will be suspended in stages at most of our vehicle assembly facilities in Japan between April 18th and the 23rd, we do not know if they will continue production suspensions. Also, any effects to our inventory and/or sales have yet to be determined." He expects the automaker to know more in the coming days. Many of the affected Toyota plants aren't even in Kumamoto Prefecture, but major suppliers have factories in the region. For example, Aisin Seiki and Renesas Electronics both had to shutdown operations at plants in the area, according to Automotive News. Toyota isn't the only automaker affected. Nissan experienced a brief slowdown but was back to work on Monday, and Honda has suspended a motorcycle plant in the region until Friday. Mitsubishi had to close a production line due to the parts shortage, according to The Japan Times, but it didn't affect US models. "A supplier to our Mizushima plant has been impacted but they only supply an engine part for our mini car line. That line has been temporarily shut down due to that situation," spokesperson Alex Fedorak told Autoblog. "That same plant builds the Lancer and i-MiEv and there has been no impact to that line and production continues uninterrupted." Two major quakes hit Kumamoto Prefecture around Kumamoto city in the past week. The first on April 14 measured 6.4 magnitude, and a second on April 16 measured 7.3.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

Toyota settles first wrongful death suit related to unintended acceleration

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Toyota's sales seem to have rebounded from the unintended acceleration issues from 2009 and 2010, but the automaker is far from done dealing with this situation. Following a settlement worth up to $1.4 billion for economic loss to affected vehicle owners, Toyota has settled rather than going to trial in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from an accident in Utah in 2010 that left two passengers dead. This isn't the first case in which Toyota has settled, but it was the first among a consolidated group of cases being held in Santa Ana, CA.
According to The Detroit News, this case was scheduled to take place next month, and it was for a November 2010 incident in which Paul Van Alfen and Charlene James Lloyd were killed in a Camry when, based on findings by the Utah Highway Patrol, the accelerator got stuck causing the car to speed out of control and hit a wall; the terms of the settlement were not announced.
The article says that while Toyota will settle on some cases, it doesn't plan on settling on all of them as it still wants to be able to "defend [its] product at trial." This will probably be the case in suits claiming that software for the drive-by-wire accelerator was the cause of an accident in a Toyota or Lexus vehicle. The question of whether or not the electronic accelerator played any role in this problem has been a hot-button topic since the beginning. Toyota has issued recalls in the past to attempt to prevent unintended acceleration caused by trapped floor mats and faulty accelerator pedals, but it also says driver error was to blame in some instances.
