1992 Lexus Sc400 Base Coupe 2-door 4.0l No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Lithia, Florida, United States

You are bidding on a VERY rare Lexus SC400. This vehicle was one of the first to arrive to the United States from Japan. To prove that, the steering wheel has a "Griffin" instead of the standard "L" from Lexus. This automobile is known as a "Soarer" in Japan & the Japanese actually lost money on the car as it was their entrance into the "High End" car market in the U.S. These cars are highly valued for people that are into "Drifting." I want to make this easy so, here are the upsides and downsides:
UPSIDES: Brand new tires with less then 100 miles on them New brakes within the last year Replaced A/C compressor within the last year and the air blows COLD! New transmission installed less then 8 months ago along with a power steering pump. The car has been meticulously taken care of with proper Synthetic Oil Changes and Tire Rotations. The interior is in good condition as the only defects are with the front passenger seat. Has Borla exhaust system. Everything works, sunroof, electric antennae, gauges, etc. The engine runs STRONG and has no issues whatsoever. Lastly, I have all the receipts from the last 4 years as I am the third owner of the car. Viper Remote keyless entry & starting anti-theft system DOWNSIDES: They car grew up on Ohio and the salt (from the winter months) has taken a toll on the undercarriage and the right side of the back rear of the car. The Trac Control and Engine Light comes on sporadically as a sensor needs replaced under the exhaust (which is difficult due to the corrosion). The stereo amplifier is only operating for one side of the speakers and the multi-disc changer is not functioning properly. She needs a new rack and pinion system as the steering, sporadically, gets difficult...but not often. This can take a toll on the wear of the tires if not corrected. ANY QUESTIONS...PLEASE CONTACT ME! I don't sell cars for a living and have a 100% positive feedback on Ebay and would like to keep it that way. IF you live in the area, please feel free to come and view/drive the car. I have been as honest and forthright as i can about this vehicle. It is being sold "as is" and listed on other websites and reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks and happy bidding! Jake |

Xcar gets Lexus LFA serviced at TMG
Mon, Mar 30 2015Toyota has made all manner of vehicles, from sedans and hatchbacks to crossovers and pickup trucks. It's even done a handful of sports cars over the years. But it's only ever done one real supercar, and that was the Lexus LFA. The ten-cylinder supercar was built at the dedicated, purpose-built LFA Works, a facility within Toyota City in Japan that's since moved on to making everything from bicycles to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. But if you were lucky enough to be among the 500 customers to get your hands on an LFA, you may not be inclined to send it back to the factory every time it needs servicing. Especially not if you live in, say, Europe. That's why Toyota Motorsport GmbH was tasked with handling service for the LFA for Europe. The facility in Cologne, Germany, was once home to the automaker's F1 team, now runs its championship-winning endurance racing team and will soon again serve as the home base for its renewed assault on the World Rally Championship. So it's just the type of facility that could handle whatever comes up with Lexus' high-strung exotic, from servicing the V10 engine to repairing the carbon-fiber chassis if need be. After checking out the underground collection in its last episode, the guys at Xcar popped their heads in at the LFA service center. There they spoke with TMG VP Rob Leupen, who seems convinced that Toyota should make a new hybrid supercar. We hope he turns out to be right.
Lexus RC media event in Japan canceled over lack of interest
Fri, 07 Nov 2014It's a good thing senior editor Seyth Miersma doesn't live in Japan, or he wouldn't have been able to snap a photo like the one you see here, of a fresh-off-the-line Lexus RC F on hand at a first drive for media. That's because Toyota's Japanese arm has outright canceled its RC press launch. Sure, we've heard about events being delayed, but canceled? That's rare. Even worse is the reason: according to Automotive News, the event was nixed due to lack of interest. Wow.
In an email to media, Lexus said the event "has been canceled due to insufficient attendance," according to AN. The News posits that perhaps it would have just been better to hold the event anyway, in an attempt to save face, and that this is another example of the Japanese culture (especially youth) becoming less and less interested in cars. Of course, there's also the thought that local media just didn't want to drive out to Yokohama to drive the RC on a not-so-sexy press launch, which, if you ask us, is an incredibly lame excuse (do your jobs, folks!).
Either way, will this bode well for the Lexus RC's public launch? Will it receive the same lukewarm response when it arrives at Japanese dealers? We'll see.
TMG's super Lexus LS Sports 650 gets track tested
Thu, 05 Sep 2013The people at Toyota Motorsport GmbH have been responsible for the Japanese automaker's motorsports efforts since the 1970s, but since Toyota pulled out of Formula One after the 2009 season, the tuning shop has been developing a super sedan based on the Lexus LS called the Sports 650. Details on TMG's first road car have been scarce, but XCAR was recently invited to drive the 641-horsepower Lexus on track.
Here's what we know: the Sports 650 has enough power to sprint to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, tops out at 199 mph, weighs over two tons and utilizes LFA brakes. Oh, and its twin-turbo V8 bellows like an AMG V8. That last part isn't surprising when considering TMG could become Toyota's in-house tuning arm - like AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. As for the bespoke body kit, fender flares and stacked exhaust pipes? They fit the car well and even remind us a bit of Lexus' other high-performance sedan, the IS F. Currently there are no plans for the Sports 650 to be made into a production car, but we doubt TMG is devoting this much effort developing the LS into a road-rocket for nothing.
Check out XCAR's video below to see the AMG-fighter wrung out on track, and then ponder what could be if TMG were let loose to fiddle with other cars in Lexus' lineup. Now that's something we could get used to!
