This vehicle currently does NOT RUN RIGHT.  I've owned this SUV for about 3 years. Here's what I know about it:

GOOD STUFF:
1999 Lexus RX300 AWD V6 motor with approximately 190,000 miles with tan leather interior and a "bronze and gray" two-tone colored exterior. Put a new battery $80 on it last fall, new struts/shocks put on last fall $400, new brakes $74, and a new set of $800 tires with less than 1,000 miles on them. Just had the transmission fluid and filter changed, which was $147 before it was parked. Always had the oil changed at 3,000 miles. Put a new OCV for the right hand side $100. The sound system is excellent with a built in 6 disc CD changer. Has the auto climate control. Heated seats. Moonroof and alloy wheels. Clean clear title in hand and ready to transfer. I only have one key for it. Other than a few surface scratches the exterior is in good condition. Interior is in fair condition. Needs to be detailed.

BAD STUFF:
I parked it last fall and I think I drove it one time this past winter. When I went out to start it this spring, it had to be jump started because the battery was dead. It has a brand new battery on it that I purchased last fall, so there may be a short somewhere. After jump starting it, it would not run right. The interior lights and the headlights are flickering the whole time and when I put it in drive it dies. The A/C compressor had went out last fall, so that is one thing that I know will need to be replaced. The interior could use a good cleaning, but isn't in bad shape - the driver's seat is ripped on the side where you get in and out. The last known issue is that you can only put 8 gallons of gas in at a fill up. Its been that way since I bought it and the buyer did not make me aware of the issue. I'm not sure what needs to be done to fix that problem, but I've just dealt with the entire time I've had it.

So, after reading all of that please understand that I've been completely honest about the SUV and NO, I'M NOT SURE WHATS WRONG WITH IT AND NO, I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS SOMETHING MAJOR OR SOMETHING SMALL, BUT IT WILL NEED TO BE HAULED / TOWED. WILL NEED TO BE TRANSFERRED OUT OF MY NAME AND TAXES TO BE PAID BY THE BUYER BEFORE IT LEAVES THE HOUSE. CURRENTLY LICENSED TIL NOVEMBER in Kentucky.

Buyer is to make a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the auction close. If there is a remaining balance on the vehicle, that is to be paid within 7 days of the purchase date. Buyer assumes the responsibility of arranging the haul of the vehicle. If you are a buyer from out of state, you will need to find out what forms that your state requires for licensing. If you wanted to buy the SUV just for parts, I will expect you to pay for the junk title fee. This vehicle is sold AS IS with no warranty implied. Do not bid unless you are willing to pay.

Lexus tops JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study again, Buick bests Toyota

Wed, Feb 25 2015

It shouldn't surprise anyone, but Lexus has once again taken the top spot in JD Power's Vehicle Dependability Study. That'd be the Japanese luxury brand's fourth straight year at the top of table. The big news, though, is the rise of Buick. General Motor's near-premium brand beat out Toyota to take second place, with 110 problems per 100 vehicles compared to Toyota's 111 problems. Lexus owners only reported 89 problems per 100 vehicles. Besides Buick's three-position jump, Scion enjoyed a major improvement, jumping 13 positions from 2014. Ram and Mitsubishi made big gains, as well, moving up 11 and 10 positions, respectively. In terms of individual segments, GM and Toyota both excelled, taking home seven segment awards each. The study wasn't good news for all involved, though. A number of popular automakers finished below the industry average of 147 problems per 100 vehicles, including Subaru, (157PP100), Volkswagen (165PP100), Ford/Hyundai (188PP100 each) and Mini (193PP100). The biggest losers (by a tremendous margin, we might add) were Land Rover and Fiat, recording 258 and 273 problems per 100 vehicles. The next closest brand was Jeep, with 197PP100. While the Vehicle Dependability Study uses the same measurement system as the Initial Quality Survey, the two metrics analyze very different things. The VDS looks at problems experienced by original owners of model year 2012 vehicles over the past 12 months, while the oft-quoted IQS focuses on problems in the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership. Like the IQS, though, the VDS has a rather broad definition of what a problem is. Because of that, a low score from JD Power is no guarantee of extreme unreliability, so much as just poor design. In this most recent study, the two most reported problems focused on Bluetooth connectivity and the voice-command systems. The former leaves plenty of room for user error due to poor design (particularly true of the Bluetooth systems on the low-scoring Fords, Volkswagens and Subarus), while the second is something JD Power has already confirmed as being universally terrible. That makes means that while these studies are important, they shouldn't be taken as gospel when it comes to automotive reliability. 2014 Lexus IS 250 AWD F Sport

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

"Ooh, this looks fun!" my otherwise car-ignorant friend said as we walked up to the 2014 Lexus IS 250 F Sport. And yeah, it does look fun. In fact, despite my initial strong negative reaction to the design, I've really warmed up to this new IS, especially with the flashier F Sport package found on this test car (unique front fascia, 18-inch dark alloy wheels and appropriate badging). Even though that rear end still looks a bit Droopy Dog to me (stop frowning, Lexus), the IS is sharp, though I'm not entirely sure that such a bold design will age well.
"Looks can be deceiving," I told my friend, and we hit the road... slowly. You see, despite looking like a fresh, modern sport sedan, the IS 250 still uses what is, quite frankly, a dog of an engine. And that, combined with dynamics that are just so-so at best, makes for a sedan that's all show and no go. Say hello to Jennifer Slowpez.

2019 Infiniti QX50 vs. compact luxury SUV rivals: How they compare

Thu, Feb 1 2018

With apologies to the EX35, or whatever it was eventually renamed, Infiniti has been without a proper, competitive entry in the compact luxury SUV segment. You know, the segment that's growing faster in sales and entries than any other? To say the 2019 Infiniti QX50 is long awaited would therefore be an understatement. At first glance and drive, the new QX50 would indeed seem to be wildly more competitive than its predecessor, which come to think of it, was eventually called the QX50 as well. This one is based on an all-new front-wheel-drive platform, and although it lacks the inherent verve of the old, rear-drive- and 370Z-based one, the resulting increase in cabin space should be a welcome tradeoff. In fact, as you'll see below, the QX50 has gone from one of the smallest compact SUVs to the most spacious. How does it stack up in every other way? Say, against the segment's four best-selling entries last year: the 2018 Lexus NX 300, 2018 Acura RDX, 2018 Audi Q5 and 2018 BMW X3. On paper at least, really well as it turns out. Let's go to the spreadsheet! Discover and compare other luxury crossovers with our Car Finder and Compare tools. Comparing engines, drivetrains and transmissions With the exception of the Acura, all of the contenders come with 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines. As you can see, the Infiniti is the heavyweight amongst the four-bangers, boasting the most horsepower and torque. The Acura V6 nips it by 11 hp, but the QX50 is still the overall torque champ. Plus, as we documented in the QX50 first drive, the Infiniti's new VC-Turbo engine is also the most technologically advanced. The Lexus is the wimp of the group and is also the second-heaviest, which isn't exactly the ideal scenario. The Infiniti is the only one in the group to feature a continuously variable transmission. That's not going to generate much applause around here. The BMW tops the gear count with eight, while the Audi is the only entry with a dual-clutch automated manual. The Acura and Lexus have only six gears, but they're good transmissions and it's not like their fuel economy is off the pace. The Audi and BMW come standard with all-wheel drive, while the others offer a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Comparing cargo and interior space The new front-wheel-drive platform is paying dividends inside for the 2019 QX50, as it now boasts the most maximum cargo space at 65.1 cubic feet.
