1996 Lexus LX450 Another great vehicle offered by SaveTheLandCruisers.com This is one of nicest LC's we have ever had at STLC! Like all of our auctions this is a NO RESERVE auction so highest bidder gets this beauty. We have had this LX450 since April with MOAB and the FJ SUMMIT in mind. This truck just returned from Moab, Utah and the FJ Cruiser Summit in Ouray, CO. Not only did it run and drive great on the pavement but it manhandled the Moab and Ouray trails. We sourced this rig just for this expedition, My family of 5 really enjoyed the rock formations in Moab and the high altitude trails in Ouray (Black Bear Pass at 14k feet). Before I took this on the Utah and Colorado journey I replaced the Battery, Steering box, power steering pump, EGR Transcucer and Alternator just to make sure I did not have any issues. As we searched the country for an 80 series LC for this expedition we were looking for several factors, but the factor that weighed in on this truck was the service history. This truck was serviced since day 1 at a lexus dealership. The originally owner was very meticulous and anal with this vehicle. (See pics of documentation). Every time the vehicle was serviced it was cleaned and detailed. The interior is in great shape and the Lexus Luxury Leather is outstanding on all seat accept the drivers seat. The driver's seat is cracked and torn but still functionable. I can have the seat recovered if you are the high bidder at cost. Please check out this very detailed video of this vehicle youtube.com/watch?v=X3b7raXJljc The Goodies on this vehicle:
Things to note: This truck was a highway warrior over the first 15 yrs of its life (hence the mileage at 225k) since then it has slowly been converted to a trail vehicle, so there is some scratches (trail pinstriping) but no rust. It was my intention to put factory locking diffs on the vehicle but I could not source them in time for the journey so only the dial on the dash was inserted but the diffs never were converted. This vehicle has NO LEAKS, the front axle was just redone about 20k miles ago so not clunking noises when the wheels are turned in low 4wd. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 504 319 2533 or if you would like to view the vehicle in person you can fly into the New Orleans Airport where we will line up transportation for you. If you are the winning bidder and want to drive the vehicle home we can pick you up at the airport. You should have no issues driving this vehicle home anywhere in the country. If you want to ship the vehicle we can help line that up to as we have shipped a couple dozen vehicles over the last couple of years. The cost of shipping is on your dime of course :) !! |

Lexus LFA prototype spied lapping the Nurburgring with new bodywork
Wed, Oct 10 2018The Lexus LFA was a real engineering tour de force. Sure, it was stuck in development hell for years, and the 4.8-liter V10's 552-horsepower output wasn't super impressive when it came out, but it integrated a ton of expertise Toyota gained from its F1 team in the early to mid 2000s. Unfortunately, it didn't sell well. Last year, we found there were a few new models sitting on dealer lots, five years after the 500-model run ended. Still, it looks like Toyota may not have given up on the idea of a race-derived flagship for Lexus, at least based on this prototype running around the Nurburgring this week. At first glance, the car pictured here looks like an LFA with the Nurburgring Package and some camouflage on the front and rear fenders. If you look closely, you can see that the fenders are significantly wider than on the standard LFA. Based on the license plate, this appears to be the same car with two different sets of wheels. Lexus may simply be swapping out worn tires, or they may be testing different wheel and tire combinations to fit the wider wheel wells. Anything beyond this is just speculation. There have been rumors of a new flagship Lexus sports car that sits atop the LC 500 and LC 500h. We saw the Toyota GR Super Sport Concept back in January, though that car looks nothing like what we see here. As much as we would love that sweet Yamaha co-developed V10 to carry over, we're not holding our breath. Some sort of hybrid powertrain is almost a certainty. Maybe Lexus and Toyota could pull some tech from its Le Mans-winning TS050 Hybrid race car. Related Video:
2014 Lexus IS gets TRD bits
Mon, 20 May 2013Toyota Racing Development (TRD) in Japan has designed cosmetic and performance bits that give the 2014 Lexus IS a front-to-back workover. Different from the F-Sport parts we expect from Lexus here, the full body kit runs 437,700 yen ($4,285 US) and starts with air deflectors at the lower edges of the front bumper, through to side skirts, a decklid spoiler and a rear bumper with a diffuser and quad exhaust tips.
For 288,750 yen ($2,830) you can sharpen responses with new shocks, springs, dampers, sway bar and bracing. The priciest individual component is the set of 19-inch wheels, four of them going for 527,625 yen (5,170 US). There's no word on US importation or pricing yet, but done up all in black like the IS above, we wouldn't mind seeing it here.
New Toyota Supra may get a twin-turbo Lexus V6
Fri, Jul 22 2016We've heard endless rumors that a successor to the much loved and much missed Toyota Supra is in the works. Toyota hasn't done much to deny these conversations. On the contrary, the FT-1 concept from two years ago and the partnership with BMW have only fueled the fire. Now, talk of a new Lexus engine has led to speculation about the supposed Supra's powertrain. To be clear, this is mostly heresay. Few things have actually been confirmed, but based on what we know a few conclusions can be drawn. We know that BMW and Toyota are working on a joint product. We've seen mules testing out in the wild. In BMW guise, the possibly Austrian-built car will more than likely powered by turbocharged inline four and six-cylinder engines. Unless Toyota wants to use Bimmer power, they'll need to shoehorn one of their own under the hood. That leads us to this rumor of a twin-turbocharged V6 that will presumably power the new Lexus GS and LS. Japanese automotive publication Mag-X first reported on this engine. It was then picked up by YouWheel and Car Keys. Mag-X cites Toyota insiders and even gives an engine code, 943F. This engine allegedly will make more than 400 horsepower and more than 300 lb-ft of torque. While unconfirmed, this makes sense for Lexus. Nearly every luxury competitor has a six-cylinder engine with forced induction. While Toyota has previously had turbocharged inline-sixes, they've never produced a factory turbo V6. Every automaker is downsizing engines in an effort to meet fuel economy and emissions regulations. Toyota and Lexus will follow suit. Taking that V6 and tuning it for a performance application is a solid, if unverified, possibility. Related Video:
