- For Sale By Owner -
I have for sale my top of the line 2005 Lexus LS430 with only 69k miles on it that has the Ultra Luxury package which includes a list of additional options over the standard LS430 you can not believe (more on that later). It also has the active restraint system on it that uses lasers to constantly send out probes and then when it senses any sort of impending collision it actually cinches up the seat belts and pumps the brakes to help prepare the occupants for the collision.

If you've never been in a Lexus LS430 then you're in for a real treat. This LS430 Ultra is the top of the line world class Lexus flagship that has every single option that was offered on this model including the 17" Lexus chrome wheels that don't have a mark on them anywhere.

This LS430 was over $73,000 MSRP new and you can own it now for a fraction of the original cost. It is in excellent condition with much less then normal wear and always gets looks and compliments wherever I go.

The $13,000+ Ultra Luxury Package with the Collision Warning feature includes the following options in addition to all the other features already on a standard LS430:
  • Fully adjustable air suspension with normal-sport-high options. The sport setting firms up the dampers and delivers an edgier ride with sharp and crisp handing. The high setting lifts the entire car up 1"-1.5" when a little extra clearance might come in handy. In short, this Lexus fully adjustable air suspension system is simply one of the best in the world.
  • Laser Cruise Control - just set it and forget it. The laser automatically keeps you at a preset distance from the vehicle in front of you and adjust down as needed keeping the distance the same. This laser cruise control will actually give off an alarm and pump the brakes if you get too close to the car in front of you.
  • Full backseat controls including stereo and temperature controls and advanced creature comforts like power headrest, heated and cooled seats, reclining rear seats and the rear seats even have a very cool vibration feature that makes for a pleasant back seat experience. There's also a small cooler between the back seats to keep your refreshments chilled during road trips. In many parts of the world the LS430 "Ultra Luxury" model is used as limousines and the back seats are set up like Five Star Hotels to pamper their guest during the time spent being chauffeured in the car.
  • Overhead Lighted retractable Vanity Lights for both rear passengers
  • Manual Side Shades for large and small rear windows on both sides
  • Power rear Sunshade with both front and rear controls
The only picks I have on my car would include the normal small stone chips on the front nose that I get from, gasp, driving outdoors :-)
It also has a very slight brush mark on the passenger side rear view mirror that happened at a valet last month that can possibly be buffed out. I bought the 4 matching 17" Lexus chrome wheels just 2 years ago and they are in excellent condition with no curb marks at all. There are no door dings anywhere on the car and the crystal pearl finish is one of the most beautiful Lexus colors ever. The ecru (tan) interior is in excellent shape and the Lexus mats and original carpeting are all very clean and it looks near new all around.

Bosch builds an infotainment system that just might not suck

Tue, Jan 30 2018

As far as we've come with in-car infotainment and interfaces over the past decade or so, we still have a long way to go — as most current systems show. Whether it's high-end brands like Mercedes-Benz with its kludgy COMAND system, which we hope will be replaced with the MBUX platform revealed at CES, or more mainstream vehicles like Hondas (with their frustrating, knobless Display Audio interface), getting the kind of content and ease of use in the car that we're used to having on other connected devices is far too complex and sometimes costly. While Apple and Google have tried to ride to the rescue with CarPlay and Android Auto, respectively, they're limited solutions. No automaker or tech supplier has been able to deliver an easy, economical, flexible and non-distracting infotainment solution. But Bosch could be closing in on this elusive goal, given the digital cockpit concept demo I recently received at CES. Displayed in a Cadillac Escalade, the concept featured five interconnected color screens: one in the instrument cluster, two in the center console, and two more in the front-seat headrest for second-row passengers. The digital cockpit concept demo had cool features such as haptic-feedback touch-screen controls that created an edge-like feeling similar to a physical button, facial recognition to confirm driver credentials, and the intelligence to know the location of a phone in the car to lock it out to keep the driver from texting. The most significant aspect of the Bosch digital cockpit concept wasn't visible — but shows the company's vision for a future of seamless, convenient, cost-effective and safe in-car infotainment. It's powered by a single electronic control unit (ECU) that can simultaneously run multiple operating systems and also separates vehicle and infotainment controls for critical safety and cybersecurity reasons. Most modern cars can have as many as 100 separate ECUs, Philip Ventimiglia, product manager for Bosch Car Multimedia North America, explained at CES, and several just for infotainment functions. "The goal is to reduce that to about 10 so that we can save cost throughout the vehicle and enable new technologies," he added. "OEMs want to put more technology into cars, but it costs money," Ventimiglia said.

Ice driving at the Bridgestone Winter Driving School | AutoblogVR

Tue, Aug 23 2016

We have two new VR episodes for you this week, both of which come from the Bridgestone Winter Driving School. In one, we get some instruction in the snow and then have a little fun sliding around. In the other, two instructors give a visual demonstration of how rear- and all-wheel-drive cars handle differently in the snow (which also includes lots of fun sliding). You get to experience it all from the passenger seat, with a view in every direction. The Bridgestone Winter Driving School is located just outside the town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Facilities include a couple of meticulously maintained ice/snow tracks and a snow skidpad – which, it happens, is the best kind of skidpad. We worked our way up from an all-wheel-drive Lexus NX crossover to a rear-drive Lexus IS, and then the staff gave their drifty demonstration in two similar Lexus IS sedans – one with rear drive and the other with all-wheel drive. There's a preview above, but for the full immersive experience, you'll need the AutoblogVR app for iOS or Android – you can download it for free from the App store and Google Play. Be sure to try it with a cardboard viewer, too! Lexus Driving Videos VR Original Video lexus is virtual reality lexus nx 360video

Lexus RZ battery electric crossover teased

Thu, Dec 2 2021

Lexus has dropped a teaser video glimpsing the brand's first fully electric vehicle to be sold in the U.S. Called the Lexus RZ, it features the angular styling we've come to expect from Toyota's luxury marque, but underneath the sheetmetal we're probably getting a foundation we've seen quite a bit of in recent weeks. That's because the Lexus RZ is a third version of the battery-electric crossover co-developed by Toyota and Subaru, recently unveiled as the confusingly named Toyota bZ4X (it always requires a double check of the alphanumeric sequence) and the much better named Subaru Solterra. All three are built on the e-TNGA platform that will underpin several EV models. However, the Lexus RZ signals a more significant departure from the bZ4X and Solterra, whose differences were quite limited. They looked almost indistinguishable, the only things setting them apart being a mild reshape of the front fasica and taillights, painted wheel arch cladding on the Toyota, and an option for a single-motor 2WD drivetrain on the bZ4X. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The Lexus, on the other hand, seems to wear completely new sheetmetal. Right away, the lack of gray cladding around the wheel wells is apparent. There still appears to be some, but much slimmer than that of the bZ4X and Solterra. A strong character line flows from the leading edge of the front wheel arch to the rear door, where it's picked by another upturned character line leading into a blacked out C-pillar. Naturally, the front features a large Lexus spindle grille shape (there doesn't appear to be an actual open radiator intake, unnecessary for an EV) and unique headlights branded with "L" fishhook DRLs. The rear offers a much sleeker appearance as well, with slim taillights that don't droop downward into the bodywork. A solid light bar features the word "Lexus" printed across rather than the traditional L-in-a-circle logo. No details or interior images were shown, but we'd guess that the cabin is quite a bit nicer than the decent but run-of-the-mill cockpit of the bZ4X and Solterra. Lexus has stated it will not offer the single-motor option. However, its Direct4 all-wheel-drive system is a departure from Subaru's, and the Lexus is said to be capable of 402 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Those figures completely blow the bZ4X and Solterra out of the water.
