Original, unmolested 1990 Range Rover Classic.  Always a southern vehicle, it was sold new in FL and has been in SC for the last dozen years or so.  I bought it a couple of years ago from an employee of the original owner and it has been my wife's toy/daily around-town driver ever since.  The Autocheck report shows the mileage as genuine but it estimates the number of owners incorrectly.  Fairly sure I am the third owner.  We've put 10,000 miles on it in two+ years.

If you're reading this, you know about these trucks.  Unbeatable 4WD but quirky.  This truck is nearly rust free except for the usual rear lift gate spots.  Frame is perfect. 1990 predates the air suspension so no hassles there to worry about. The body is mainly aluminum and as a result has the usual dings you'd expect.  The paint is original and has seen a lot of SC sun.  Thin in spots but overall presentable. Four new tires in the last year with tons of life left.  The power steering pump and steering box are fine - a little weeping but no leaks.  I have not had to put fluid in it in over a year.  Regular oil changes during our ownership.  NOT using coolant and has not been overheated. Starts, runs and drives as good as it gets for an old Range Rover.

The AC worked last summer but needs (at least) a recharge now.  The cruise control works - pretty rare for an old Rover.  The headliner is (miraculously) in near perfect condition and the sunroof does not leak. Carpets, dash plastic and woodwork are in decent shape for their age.  All windows go up and down as they should and the central locking works on all five locks.  Both power seats work and the leather is not in bad condition.  Overall it is really clean.  We're non smokers but I can't promise you my yellow lab has not shed some hair in the back!  Put your canoe or kayak on the roof, stuff it with gear and go anywhere.  You can't kill this one.

We're moving and can't take this with us.  Wish I had the space, it has been a fun vehicle.

Feel free to call Eric with questions.  (843) 321-1648.

Thanks!

Jaguar Land Rover opens new $1.6 billion factory in Slovakia

Thu, Oct 25 2018

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Jaguar Land Rover is opening a new, $1.6 billion plant in Slovakia, the luxury car maker's first in continental Europe. The U.K.-based company, owned by India's Tata Motors, built the plant near Nitra, about 65 miles east of Bratislava, to initially produce 150,000 cars a year. The Slovak government is giving the carmaker investment subsidies of up to 130 million euros ($148 million). Slovakia is a regional car-making powerhouse. Germany's Volkswagen AG, France's PSA Peugeot Citroen and South Korea's Kia Motors all have a major plant in this Central European country of 5.4 million people. The company said it will shift all production of its Discovery model from Birmingham, England, to Slovakia amid falling diesel sales, vehicle taxes and uncertainty about Britain's Brexit departure from the European Union.Related Video:

U.S. opens probe into whether VW vehicles infringe Jaguar Land Rover patents

Tue, Dec 22 2020

WASHINGTON — The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Monday it is opening in investigation into whether Volkswagen AG infringed on patents held by Jaguar Land Rover for a system used for off-road driving. In November, Jaguar Land Rover, a unit of Tata Motors, filed a complaint with the ITC seeking to prevent the import of some VW Porsche, Lamborghini and Audi models with "certain vehicle control systems" that allegedly infringe on it patents held for its Terrain Response system. The models include the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne and AudiÂ’s Q8, Q7, Q5, A6 Allroad, and E-Tron vehicles and the VW Tiguan. The ITC said it has made no decision on the merits. VW said in a statement it was examining the action and determining its next steps. "We will of course cooperate with investigating authorities. While we cannot comment on any details of the proceedings, we strongly believe that the claims have no merit and will robustly defend our position," VW said. Many automakers offer a suite of off-road powertrain controls, but JLR claims Volkswagen's tech is more than just similar.  Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said the vehicles "have used JLRÂ’s patented inventions without payment or permission" notably a patent for an "improved system for driving a vehicle on different driving surfaces, in particular off-road." JLR says its Terrain Response technology uses the patented technology to maximize performance on off-road driving surfaces, including grass, snow, mud, sand and rocks.

Jaguar Land Rover may buy Silverstone racetrack for new HQ

Thu, Dec 3 2015

Jaguar Land Rover might add another chapter to its venerable motorsports legacy by purchasing the revered UK racetrack Silverstone to use as its new company headquarters. JLR could reportedly offer 22.7 million pounds ($34.1 million at current rates) to buy the circuit, according to Automotive News Europe, which cites several British media sources. The British automaker would then invest the equivalent of $78 million to turn the historic track into a celebration of the brand, including a museum, experience center, and hotel. The company would also construct space for its marketing team and engineers, Automotive News Europe reports. Motorsports would still continue there, too, which means the course's Formula One legacy is safe. Neither JLR nor the British Racing Drivers' Club, which leases the track, have confirmed the rumors. The BRDC only suggested that it received several confidential offers to purchase the circuit. Silverstone has a motorsports history that goes back to the late 1940s and is often the home to the Formula One British Grand Prix. The track's organizers have a long-term deal to continue hosting the F1 race, too. Today, the course also features major events from MotoGP and the FIA World Endurance Championship. In November, Jaguar released a video that celebrated some of its legacy at Silverstone by bringing the modern XJR and Le Mans-winning XJ-R9 LM at the track. If the company's purchase happens, you can expect to see a lot more Jags and probably some Land Rovers lapping the course. Related Video:
