2004 Range Rover HSE

This auction is for a 2004 Range Rover HSE. It is offered for sale by a private seller in Charleston, West Virginia. Please read the entire description and feel free to ask any specific questions you may have, I'm happy to take calls and emails at any time. I listed this vehicle for my friend's son as I have also listed his vehicle on eBay as well (2010 Mercedes C300).  I've started the bidding at a low price so everyone has a chance to get in and the reserve is extremely reasonable. Thanks for looking and enjoy the auction.

This car has been owned by the current owner for three years and has been his daily driver.  It was purchased as a trade in from a local dealership.  I believe the previous owners hit a deer in the front end that caused some minor damage that was properly repaired before the current owner purchased it.  This is a nearly 10 year old car and is not perfect but is in great condition.  If you are looking for a 100 point car, stop here and click the back button.  It has the normal wear and tear of a 146,000 mile daily driver.  The current owner purchased it 7/20/10 with 71,530 miles on it.  There has been some paint work (recall the deer story) and there are slight blemishes here and there on the vehicle, inside and out.  If I were to rate the car overall, considering appearance, drivability and remaining value/longevity; I'd give it a solid low 7 (or above average).  The tires are newer with approximately 80% tread wear remaining.  The front air suspension has been replaced on both sides and the fuel pump is new.  The oil has been changed regularly and any necessary repairs have been completed as they occured within the current ownership.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

EXTERIOR

This car's white paint is glossy and still holds a nice shine. There are some minor paint chips and slight blemishes as you would expect on a daily driver with 146,000 miles.  The glass is all original and in perfect condition. The wheels are in above average shape with slight blemishes here and there, mostly from the weights.

INTERIOR

The interior is in above average condition as well. The leather is clean and free of tears.  Again, everything is as you would expect to find on a vehicle with this mileage.  Factory rubber mats are installed and are included.  There are no major stains, rips or holes noted.

ENGINE / TRANSMISSION

The engine and transmission are in proper working condition. The car starts, runs and drives as it should.  There is no smoke, no knocks, pings, rattles or clunks.

WHEELS / TIRES

The wheels and tires are exactly as nice as they appear in the pictures.  The tires are near new with approximately 80% tread wear remaining.

That's about all I can say for the car. I have tried to describe it as accurately as possible and have probably been a bit more critical than it actually deserves.  I have a CARFAX in hand and am willing to email it to anyone who wants a copy. Again, please feel free to call or email with any questions whatsoever. Please call with any specific question syou may have.

THE DETAILS

Please review the entire listing before bidding. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. Please have payment and or financing arranged before bidding. No trades are accepted. An initial deposit is not required but immediate communication is. We can hold the car until you make arrangements to pick it up but not long term. We're looking to conduct a smooth transaction where both parties are satisfied. Rest assured, should you get here and the car is not as described, you don't own it, we'll cancel the transaction. I'm willing to work with anyone on any aspect of the purchase, just ask before so we can get it worked out quick and smooth, my time is limited. Thank you for your time and interest. Good luck.

PLEASE DIRECT ALL INQUIRIES TO: JOHN @ 304-444-6907 OR HIT THE ASK A QUESTION TAB AT THE TOP OF THE LISTING

NHTSA is investigating FCA shifters for roll-away accidents again, this time the rotary units

Tue, Dec 20 2016

It seems FCA's shifter troubles aren't over yet. Now, just a few months after issuing a recall to resolve user-related issues with its monostable shifters, the company is again under investigation by NHTSA. The issue is related to the potential for cars to roll away when the rotary-style shifter is not properly placed in park. Two FCA models are the subject of this investigation: the 2013–2016 Ram 1500 and the 2014–2016 Dodge Durango. NHTSA estimates about 1,000,000 vehicles would be affected if a recall is issued. The investigation was started following 43 complaints of vehicles rolling away while supposedly being in "park." Among the complaints were reports of 25 crashes and 9 injuries. NHTSA does point out that in every incident, the parking brake was not engaged. A representative from FCA also gave us an official statement regarding the investigation: "FCA US is cooperating fully with NHTSA's investigation, the scope of which is limited. Other vehicles equipped with rotary shifters are not included. In accordance with prudent practice, the Company joins NHTSA in urging all drivers to use their vehicles' parking brakes." View 35 Photos As mentioned above, other Chrysler products with rotary shifters, such as the Pacifica minivan and 200 sedan, are not involved in this investigation. One of the key differences, as the representative told us, is that these vehicles have electronic parking brakes that automatically engage if the driver does not select park and then opens the door with the seatbelt unbuckled. The Ram 1500 and Durango feature mechanical, manually operated parking brakes and therefore cannot activate the brake automatically. Because this is currently an investigation, an exact cause for the incidents has yet to be determined, and none of the vehicles have been recalled. It's possible there could be a mechanical defect. However, the issue could be a confusing interface causing user error, as was the case with FCA's monostable shifters, where drivers think they've put the car in park but actually haven't. Something that indicates it could be a case of confused users is that NHTSA also opened an investigation into 2012–2014 Jaguar XF and Land Rover Range Rover Evoques for similar issues. Both vehicles use a rotary shifter and have had roll-away complaints levied as well. Even if it is a case of user error, FCA and Jaguar Land Rover may still have to recall their vehicles.

Jaguar Land Rover data leak reveals employee records, upcoming layoffs

Fri, May 25 2018

A massive data leak has revealed the personnel files of hundreds of employees at Jaguar Land Rover's factory in Solihull, England. The documents reveal details such as sick days used, disciplinary issues and — most notably — red lines indicating potential firings in the weeks or months ahead. In total, the personal records of more than 600 workers were released. JLR is scrambling to contain the crisis. The breach was first reported by the Huffington Post UK, with the automaker initially claiming the story was "fake news." That publicity gaff certainly didn't help matters, especially for employees staring at their name with a red line slashed across it. Last month, the British automaker had said it would be eliminating roughly 1,000 employees at factories in the U.K. The Solihull plant, which produces models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F-Pace and Jaguar XE, was among those mentioned in the statement. JLR, which is owned by the Indian conglomerate Tata Motors, is facing a steep drop in sales, particularly in its home market. The main culprits include a huge slump in sales of diesel-powered vehicles - a vital part of JLR's business in the U.K. and throughout Europe - along with fears about how the upcoming "Brexit" will affect business operations. In the HuffPost UK story, one worker called the situation "disgusting" and "embarrassing," adding that people at the factory now know whether they, or their colleagues, are soon due to lose their job. All of the Bond cars of 'No Time To Die' (caution for spoilers)

Thu, Sep 30 2021

Note: The following overview of the cars in No Time To Die contains spoilers. Read at your own risk, or come back after seeing the film to make sure you caught everything.   No Time To Die picks up right around where Spectre leaves us. James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) are driving along in Bond’s restored and iconic DB5 in Matera, Italy. Things donÂ’t stay all that cheery for long in picturesque Matera, though. As is tradition in Bond films, the first car chase hits us with an explosion of action in what's a super-long opening scene. Fourth-gen Maserati Quattroporte: The baddies in the beginning are driving a Maserati and chasing after Bond in the DB5. Specifically, theyÂ’re in a fourth-gen Quattroporte, which feels right for a chase scene in Italy. Its squared-off looks are mean enough, and its Italian growl is a good background soundtrack to the DB5Â’s inline-six. In addition to the Quattroporte, the chase scene in Matera is home to a couple of the best stunts of the entire movie, including the arch jump done with a Triumph motorcycle seen in trailers — Matera is extremely hilly. Eventually, Bond and Swann find themselves in the DB5 again together, which is where the famous gatling gun scene from the trailer commences, but not before the bulletproof windows and body of the DB5 are thoroughly tested. RIP to the first-gen Range Rover Classics and Jaguar XFs that joined the Maserati in pursuit of Bond (here's a list of other Bond cars over the years). As the DB5 escape scene concludes, we catch a glimpse of what appears to be a Ferrari from the 1970s. However, the view was far enough away that weÂ’ll need a second look to be sure of the exact model. Land Rover Series III: Next time we see Bond, heÂ’s fishing in Jamaica and driving around a blue Land Rover Series III. ItÂ’s yet another of the many Land Rover products featured throughout the film, and unlike most of BondÂ’s Aston Martins, this one doesnÂ’t seem to have any unique features. The other intriguing vehicle out of Jamaica? An old Chevrolet Bel-Air expertly and effectively piloted by Bond newcomer, Ana de Armas. Next up, we get a few shots of the new and still-not-for-sale Aston Martin Valhalla mid-engine supercar (also seen in trailers). BondÂ’s old boss M is in the scene which appears to have been shot in some secret wind tunnel of sorts. Much to our dismay, nobody ends up driving the Valhalla in the film. Could it be a teaser for what the next 007Â’s car is?
