Driveability and Features:

One of the most pleasant features on this truck is the factory navigation.  It paved the way for other SUV’s and is still up to par with today’s Nav standards.  Additionally, it features a “British Gentleman’s” voice to guide you through your directions – just a reminder that you are in a proper British Luxury vehicle – as if you would forget!  Beyond that, especially if you are new to Range Rovers, you WILL LOVE the plush comfort of properly working air suspension.   You ride in total comfort in town or on the highway, with a system that automatically adjusts to road conditions, as well as a touch of a button.  It’s really amazing to be able to swoop up next to a curb, hit access height, and have your vehicle lower to make entry and exit easy.  …and yes, remote keyless entry works!

The 4.6L V8 on this truck has SO MUCH power.  With selectable SPORT mode, you have even greater torque off the line… giving you the ability to leave virtually any vehicle in your dust.  This set up is excellent for towing as it gives you maximum power, whilst the air suspension automatically adjusts to increased load – for a level ride, all the time!

This vehicle is so smooth that you can barley feel it shifting through the gear ranges.  It idles like a stealth-plane and you wouldn’t even know it was running if it wasn’t for the tachometer!  When you punch the gas, the 4.6L takes off like a rocket with no ticks, knocks, or hesitation whatsoever.  Driving this truck gives a feeling of being in complete command of the road with the innumerable features integrated with the P38.  Serviced as it is, it’s an excellent family car, 1st car, or estate guest vehicle.  The more adventurous will find this an excellent platform for a Luxury Off-Road build.

Aesthetics:

This vehicle was not only the top of the line 4.6L HSE package, it carries with it options ONLY available to HSE models: Navigation, Full Size Rack, Lamp and Brush Guards, and Typhoon style wheels.  The paint is in great shape, and all plastics and trim are clean and tidy.  The interior is no different; with a brand new headliner, brand new luxury floor mats, full detail and with sparkling Lightstone leather seats, it’s a driving experience that is unsurpassed.  The leather is soft and supple; there are no rips or tears – the seating surface would resemble your favorite broken in baseball glove.  The Harmon Kardon premium sound system works brilliantly, providing you with crystal clear concert quality sound, even on the highway, with the windows down.  Further, coming from Southern California, its rust-free at all pans, seams, bulkheads, jambs, rails, etc.  The White Gold/Lightstone combination is about as classy as it gets.  Its a rich color that takes on new character with lighting conditions and looks amazing from sunrise through sunset.  The loadspace area is completely intact with cover, CD player, NAV dock, Jack and Tools and full size matching spare.

Purchasing and Perspective:

This is a very fine Range Rover P38.  Lots of rare options and PREMIUM performance and aesthetics all around.  In my own hands, I have performed well over $4000 of retail servicing at the shop. I do my absolute best to ensure reliability before these vehicles leave my hands and more times than not, people fly in and drive them home from across the country and in two cases, Central America.  That said, serviced as they are, they are sold as-is with my handshake no warranty warranty.  What does that mean?  Obviously I do everything I can to ensure reliability.  I want you to be happy.  If, within a reasonable amount of time something fails – starter, alternator, switches, etc, I tend to have these items on the shelf and am happy to send them to you when/if I have them.  The owner’s manual insists on ownership inspections and services every 7000 miles.  This was essential to the vehicle’s warranty when new; it most certainly applies now!  Preventative maintenance is always the best – but it is a 10+ year old car and you should integrate active servicing when needed over the course of your ownership.

There is no reserve so BID TO WIN & BID WITHIN YOUR ABILITY TO PAY!  The final bid is THE PRICE OF THE CAR.  It does not mean you “win” the opportunity to negotiate a price.  Payment is expected IN FULL before the vehicle is released and the deposit is non-refundable.  Purchase of this truck IMPLIES your satisfaction and understanding of its description and current condition.  I understand that while I know this truck is an "A," you may personally feel its way better than expected; some of you may feel like this should be rolled off a cliff in Malibu.  Understand that I spend a lot of time preparing these write-ups and I aim for them to feel like you and I are in front of the truck, looking at it with me giving you as close and as accurate of a 360 degree tour as I can.  If you need further details, please contact me BEFORE the auction close, or utilize eBay’s 3rd party inspection service.   If there is something not listed that you would like to know more about, the time to do this is NOW.  Please don’t go through the expense of shipping this vehicle to your home, only to have it roll-off the transport with you surprised that its…well…a Range Rover and not a Honda Civic!

Thanks for the interest and happy bidding.

Jaguar Land Rover reportedly developing Road Rover car

Tue, Sep 26 2017

Reports are circulating in the automotive media that Jaguar Land Rover is developing a vehicle that's not an SUV. Called the Road Rover, it would be an all-electric luxury car with "some" all-terrain capability, hinting at all wheel drive. Initially, the EV would launch in late 2019, then spawn more models to complete the lineup. There is also talk about JLR's interest in an outright purchase of an existing luxury car brand to join its portfolio, and that parent company Tata has already given this strategic move the green light. Tata has also reportedly made moves to protect its JLR ownership via acquiring more of its own stock. All this excitement brings to mind the fact that there once existed an actual Road Rover — the Rover brand. Having evolved into MG Rover before going into administration in 2005 and subsequently reborn in China under SAIC Motor ownership, Rover was a moderately posh British carmaker just beneath the level of prestige that Jaguar offered. For some years, both were part of the same corporation. The last Rover saloons were designed and built with BMW input, and at that point Land Rover had already become part of Ford, almost a decade after Jaguar did. Ford's tenure with Land Rover lasted from 2000 to 2008, when Tata bought the British brand — along with the Rover name. Would it just make sense to badge the road car Rover, with no Road or Land affixed to it? Rover's slovenly demise is more than a decade old now, but there's plenty of valuable history still embedded in the long-shelved Viking ship logo. Cast aside memories of Sterling-badged Honda Legend platform siblings and unattractively Federalized SD1 series cars, and take whatever good the 1999-2005 Rover 75 brought to the table — maybe it's time for Rover to be reborn in the current Jaguar Land Rover family. According to Autocar, the first Road Rover would be developed in tandem with the next-generation Jaguar XJ, so they would share an aluminum architecture suitable for both internal combustion engines and battery electric technology, depending of the model. If anything, there is delicious irony to this: The 1980s XJ generation that Jaguar spent decades developing was claimed to be engineered in such a way that the occasional stablemate Rover's Buick-derived 3,5-liter V8 wouldn't have fit in its engine bay — to preserve the Jaguar bloodline. To have the new XJ and a Rover cross paths again would only be fitting. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.

Jaguar Land Rover to badge vehicles based on horsepower

Wed, Sep 27 2017

Add Jaguar and Land Rover to the list of automakers changing their nomenclature due to the realities of engine downsizing. Spy photos of an unreleased Jaguar F-Type model show a badge reading P380 AWD. The letter P evidently refers to Petrol (British for gasoline), and 380 is the engine's horsepower. According to Auto Express, the entry-level F-Type will be badged P300, indicating the power output of its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Land Rover is expected to follow suit with the new badging nomenclature. Diesel models will get a D instead of a P, while electric and hybrid models will get an E badge, along with a number corresponding to total system power. So, expect the I-Pace to sport an E400 badge on its hind end. One question we have, though, is how the disparity between mechanical, metric and imperial horsepower will be dealt with. While such power-specific badges are arguably unnecessary, we expect the trend to proliferate as engines continue to get smaller but turbocharging and electrification keep horsepower climbing. At least JLR's badges are easier to understand than the messy way Audi plans to rename its models or the way BMW completely dismisses actual engine size in its naming convention. Land Rover to build Discovery Sport at new Brazilian factory

Fri, Oct 31 2014

Looking forward to getting your mitts on a new Land Rover Discovery Sport? Well you should, because it promises to be a markedly better product than the Freelander/LR2 it replaces. Just don't assume it will necessarily be built in the UK, as just about every Land Rover has in the company's 66-year history. The new Discovery Sport (pictured above in Sao Paulo) will, of course, be built in the UK, at the Halewood plant where the Evoque is made and which has in the past handled the Freelander, the Jaguar X-Type and a variety of Fords. But it will also be assembled for local consumption at JLR's new factory in Changsu, China. And, according to the press release down below, it will also be made for the Latin American market at the new factory being built in Brazil. The new plant is being built in Itatiaia on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro and will come online in 2016. Once it gets up to speed by the end of 2020, it will have the capacity to build 24,000 vehicles each year, ratcheting its workforce up from 400 when it opens to nearly 1,000 when all's said and done. The Discovery Sport will be one of the products made there for the local market, but it surely won't be the only one. As in China, we expect the Evoque will be built there as well, and we wouldn't be surprised to see the new Jaguar XE join it in the near future, either. Don't expect the Brazilian-made vehicles to be sold in the US, though: those will likely still be imported from the UK... at least, that is, until the facility said to be under consideration for the southern United States opens its doors. JAGUAR LAND ROVER CONFIRMS ITS ALL-NEW DISCOVERY SPORT FOR BRAZIL FACILITY - Jaguar Land Rover confirms Discovery Sport as one of the models to be produced at its new local manufacturing facility in Brazil - R$750m investment in the new facility in Itatiaia in the State of Rio de Janeiro - Annual production capacity of 24,000 units for the Brazilian market only – from 2016 Sao Paulo, Brazil – Jaguar Land Rover confirmed today, at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show, that its breakthrough Land Rover Discovery Sport will be one of the first models to be built at its new R$750m (GBP240m) local manufacturing facility in Itatiaia, Brazil. The new factory, which will see a total investment of R$750m (GBP240m) by the end of 2020, will supplement UK production and have the capacity to build 24,000 vehicles annually for the Brazilian market.
