For sale is this beautiful 1995 Range Rover Classic County LWB.

This Rover is in great condition inside and out with minimal wear and has no warning lights on in the instrument cluster for all systems are functioning as they should.

Mileage is currently 49K and runs, drives and looks great. The Rover has glossy Royal Blue Metallic Paint and Sorrell Leather in excellent condition. Wood trim still looks great and has wood dash trim for the A/C Fascia and cup holders. Factory front Grill Guard and Rear Lamp Guards, 6-disk CD Changer, auto dim rear view mirror, Moon-roof, Harman Kardon sound system with the factory bass box in the rear and really packs a punch, Power front  W/Driver memory, rear child safety locks, Wipac fog lamps (no pitting/cracks), new wiper blades front/rear, Ice Cold A/C and blistering heat W/Dual Climate Control.
The ride is solid and smooth and the 4.2 liter V8 runs smooth and has lots of power. Transmission shifts smooth and can be shifted from Hi to Lo gears easily. I would have to say that on a scale of 1-10 this Rover easily get a 9.5 on the overall.
All options on this Rover work like they should: all four windows, moon-roof, door locks, rear hatch, heater, A/C, front/rear defrosters, power heated mirrors, headlight washers, front/rear wipers/washers, ABS System, power steering, Audio System, cooling system, including cruise control. New brakes, pads and rotors as well as the water pump all replaced in 2012. Micheilline tires all the way around and original pristine factory rims. Air shock conversion system and vehicle has no rust, and has never been driven in inclement weather. Always garaged and driven less than 1K miles per year. I have all factory manuals including all invoices and service receipts since brand new. No disappointments here! Vehicle has slight paint blemish on front driver side hood, but not noticeable unless looking upon closely. Has one small dent on roof that is not visible unless on a ladder.

This Rover has always been very well maintained and has none of the typical rust issues found on most Rovers. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to arrange to view. I can be reached by email or by phone. My number is 214-769-3096 and email is: rickbrooks@kw.com.

2023 J.D. Power APEAL Study shows new-car customer satisfaction scores slip

Thu, Jul 20 2023

J.D. Power survey results have been slightly up but mostly down for automakers this year, literally. In February, the 2023 Vehicle Dependability Study showed an overall decline compared the 2022 a month before the Customer Service Index Study did the same. The trend reversed in June with a better overall score on the 2023 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study than in 2022, then declined again the same month on with a lower overall score on the 2023 Initial Quality Study. The declines continue with the 2023 J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, overall satisfaction among the 84,555 respondents down two points overall compared to 2022, to 845 out of 1,000 points. Because last year's score dropped compared to 2021, this year marks the first consecutive decline in the study's 28-year history. The study tries to "[measure] owners' emotional attachment and level of excitement with new vehicle" after 90 days of ownership by asking new owners to rate 37 attributes in 10 areas around the vehicle, such as the feeling they get when they hit the accelerator. Satisfaction with nine of the attributes is down this year versus last, fuel economy the only segment to show better results with 15 points more satisfaction. Styling and infotainment are big drags on satisfaction. Responses to new car exterior looks tallied 888 points, down from 894 last year, the largest drop in this year's study. On the digital side, less than half of those surveyed this year said they prefer using a manufacturer's built-in infotainment. From 70% of respondents in 2020 preferring to use a manufacturer's in-house software to play audio instead of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, that's 56% in 2023. Going all-in on Google appears to have the best effect. J.D. Power said that vehicles with both Google's Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and Google Automotive Services (GAS) "score higher in the infotainment category than those with no AAOS whatsoever. AAOS without GAS receives the lowest scores for infotainment of the three categories."  Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, said, "Despite the technology and design innovations that manufacturers put into new vehicles, owners are lukewarm about them. While innovations like charging pads, vehicle apps and advanced audio features should enhance an owner’s experience, this is not the case when problems are experienced.

Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car

Fri, Jan 6 2017

Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.
