Sheila & I live in Albuquerque. Sheila is available for adoption to a VERY GOOD HOME ONLY. Please read the entire add, and if you are seriously interested in giving her a loving home. I require ALL  bidders to contact me at my number listed below. I would like the opportunity to answer any/ all questions with full disclosure to aid in peace of mind for both parties.

Sheila is a 1993 Land Rover Range Rover LWB County Classic w/ 146k miles with a 4.2 V-8. She is not a jealous gal, unlike most rovers....you will not find her marking her territory with bodily fluids everywhere she goes(oil, tran fluid, power steering etc) So if you happen to be a jeep lover and have one parked in your driveway, she wont create a fuss. I cannot speak for your jeep though :)

It should also be noted that Sheila is not nearly as festive as some rovers. You see, I have owned many in my time and quite frankly it is nice when all of your dashboard warning lights are illuminated in a kaleidoscope of reds, yellows, greens and oranges, it feels like Christmas all year long. Sheila's lights do come on when you turn the key (as they should), but inexplicably go dark once she's up and running. I tried contacting Land Rover about this phenomenon, but they told me not to worry, "Sheila, was just secure with her personality and felt no need to be the center of attention"

If you don't have a significant other, Sheila makes a great companion. Together, we have spent many hours bonding. usually with me on my back, and her on top. What can I say, she likes to drive :) In that time, I have had ample opportunity to replace/ modify and or improve upon her already magnificent features. She is now equipped with:
-Old Man Emu HD Springs 2" lift
-Bilstein HD Shocks
-32.5" Military Spec Bias Ply Tires
-HD Axles
-Rear Detroit Locker
-HD drive shaft u-joints
-Dual Battery w/ isolator switch
-Airaid Snorkel w/ Donaldson Pre-filter
-Britland Offroad Bonnet Light Bar
-Surco Roof Rack
-Remote control for isolator switch, and all auxiliary lights
-HD Britland Offroad Winch Bumper
-9000lb winch
-Fold down exterior spare tire holder (full size spare)

In addition to the fantastic memories we have created together, Sheila came with a full 18 year maintenance history. This includes routine upkeep and salon visits, to the occasional visit to her original adoption agency Land Rover of Albuquerque for some more serious repairs. Apparently her previous partner cared for her as well as I have. Like any spectacular woman, Sheila requires care and attention. Below is a list of recent (mostly minor) procedures

Recently Replaced parts include:
-Brakes
-Viscous coupler (for transfer case)
-Fuel Pump
-ABS Pump
-A/C compressor(have not charged with freon yet)
-Heater Core (have not connected return hose)
-Plugs & Wires
-Complete Fluid Change (oil, power steering, diffs, t-case, tranny & filter)

This year marks Sheila's 20th birthday!! I know all you 40 sumthin guys out there are thinking that this is your chance to finally get you hands on a 20 year old party gal in a desperate if not transparent attempt to recapture your youth. Let me explain something.....Rovers age different than people & dogs. They say that every human year is equivalent to 7 dog years. It is a similar circumstance with rovers. Sheila, being one of the very best built, maintained & innovative suv's of all time ages at the rate of 1.5 years for every human year, that makes her age closer to 30. She hasn't even hit her prime yet, but don't you dare look at her and think how sexy she looks, she's not that kind of gal. (ok, you can look...she's sexy as all get out!! What??? its a truck not a person!)

Sheila is in great physical shape for her age as well. Admittedly she is somewhat of a tomboy, so she does have a few scrapes and bruises, the sun has bleached a couple spots on her that are barely noticeable. The interior of Sheila the Range Rover is in decent shape considering how much she loves to play outdoors. there are no rips, dash is good and headliner is sagging a bit.

Like any adolescent Sheila has her moments and quirks. Nothing that is unmanageable. Think of her as an exotic foreign exchange student who doesn't speak perfect English. It may take you a few weeks to get the communication situation established, but once you do, she will never let you down. I'll even give you a few tips on how to keep her happy and deal with her tantrums.

Sheila & I just got back from a fabulous 500 mile journey to Pagosa Springs & Durango Area, we had a blast cruising the scenic highways at 80mph & loved the slower romps up the rocky mountain sides. She even got her feet wet a few times in your brisk flowing mountain streams. I would have no problem making her my travel companion to any destination.

If you are seriously interested in becoming Sheila's new life partner, please contact me with any questions. Please don't waste my time though. Sheila may not be brand new, and she may not be a swimsuit model in perfect shape, but she is worth every penny of her rehoming fee. Of course, she will come with bill of sale and clear & clean title of ownership

****UPDATE: correction, I just discussed the terms of her adoption with Sheila.....she emphatically does not want to go to a Jeep home....says she's too tired to keep draggin their butts out of the mud and such every time they bite off more than they can chew. Plus, she says she has no desire to catch that "Jeep Thing" she keeps hearing about :)

Thanks for looking, please contact me for more pics, detailed description etc.
505.263.2136 calls/text only please.

She is available for sale locally and the auction may end at any time.

Jaguar Land Rover to cut more U.K. jobs as it moves Discovery output to Slovakia

Mon, Jun 11 2018

LONDON — Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is set to cut more jobs in Britain as it moves all production of its Discovery car to lower-cost Slovakia before building its new Range Rover at an English factory. Britain's biggest automaker, JLR has previously said its next-generation Discovery will be built at its Slovakia plant and on Monday announced there could be some job cuts in Britain as a result. "The potential losses of some agency employed staff in the UK is a tough one but forms part of our long-term manufacturing strategy as we transform our business globally," the company said in a statement. Moving production from Britain will slash several thousands of pounds off the cost per vehicle, the firm's Chief Finance Officer Ken Gregor said last year. The new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will however be built at the firm's central English Solihull plant on an architecture which is designed to allow for diesel, petrol, electric and hybrid models to be produced. Monday's announcement comes after the firm said this year it will cut 1,000 jobs and reduce production at two of its English factories as demand for diesel cars slumps in the face of higher taxes and a regulatory crackdown. The firm has also blamed Brexit for hitting demand in Europe's second-largest autos market, where demand fell 6 percent last year, a source told Reuters in April. JLR said in January it would decide this year whether to build electric cars in its home market after announcing all of its new cars will be available in an electric or hybrid version from 2020. The company, owned by India's Tata Motors, builds nearly one in three of Britain's 1.7 millions cars but is producing its first electric vehicle, the I-Pace, in Austria. JLR's new factory in the Slovak city of Nitra is due to begin production by the end of the year and will have a capacity of up to 300,000 vehicles. It already employs 1,400 people there as it gears up to open. In Britain, the firm built just over 530,000 vehicles last year at three production facilities and also has a separate engine site and headquarters, employing roughly 40,000 people in total. Tata to get Jaguar and Land Rover tech, platforms too?

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Since buying Jaguar Land Rover, Indian automaker Tata has generally left its luxury arm's platforms and technology alone. However, those days might be gone. The two of them are gradually growing closer with coordinated development and rumors of shared platforms. And it looks like all of that work and money is finally going to pay off with an actual vehicle in the near future.
According to Australian website Drive, Tata wants to make its cars more attractive to buyers outside of India, and to do that the company knows it must improve quality. The Indian company is being careful, though, because it doesn't want to dilute the Jaguar or Land Rover brands with cheap models. "You're going to see in the future a lot of sharing of technologies and platforms over time, but you won't see a JLR with a Tata badge on it," said Darren Bowler, managing director of Tata's Australian distributor, to Drive.
According to Bowler, these future vehicles are already on the way. Tata and JLR have a global platform in the works for 2017 that both companies could use for cars or crossovers. He also hinted that Jaguar's new Ingenium engines could be shared among the brands in the future, too.

Check out King Charles III's $17.6 million car collection

Fri, May 5 2023

King Charles III's coronation will take place in England on May 6, and being crowned a monarch comes with a long list of perks with four wheels. He will gain full access to the Royal Family's fleet of cars, which is valued at about GBP14 million (approximately $17.6 million). The two most expensive cars in the collection are nearly identical: they're a pair of Bentley State Limousine models (pictured) built for Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III's mother, in 2002. Only two units were made, and they're both part of the Royal Family's fleet, so they're difficult to put a value on; it's not like one is going to end up listed on your favorite auction site anytime soon. British company Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, which compiled the list, estimates that each armored, 245-inch long sedan is worth at least GBP10,000,000 (roughly $12.6 million). Dropping below the eight-digit threshold, the second-most-valuable car in the Royal Family's fleet isn't really a car. It's the Gold State Coach, which Matchbox recently released a 1/64-scale replica of, and its value is estimated at GBP1.6 million (about $2 million). At 275 inches long it's even bigger than the Bentley limousine and it weighs about 9,000 pounds. It's 261 years old and designed to be pulled by eight horses, and has been part of every coronation since 1831. The rest of the Royal Family's vehicles are relatively mundane. There's a 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Volante that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Phillip, bought for King Charles III on his 21st birthday. It's worth GBP1 million (about $1.2 million). The collection also includes a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI (about $627,000), a Bentley Bentayga (about $201,000), a Land Rover Range Rover long-wheelbase Landaulet ($133,000), a Jaguar XE (about $41,000), and a Land Rover Defender ($38,000). "Luxury cars have long been associated with the monarch and King Charles III, in particular, is known for his fondness of motor vehicles. His impressive collection features sentimental value with motors passed down from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to cars bought for him by his parents," explained Keith Hawes, the director of Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, in an interview with CBS News. Being at the head of a car-making nation's royal family also comes with drawbacks: Every vehicle in King Charles III's fleet is British.
