1993 Range Rover Classic Lwb (county Long Wheel Base) on 2040-cars
Garden Grove, California, United States
So, here's your chance to own a rust free West Coast Range Rover Classic! Plus, it's a Long Wheel Base with the 8" of added leg room in the back seat footwell and the more robust 4.2 liter motor. It recently passed the stringent California smog test showing the motor is running clean. The AC blows cold and heater blows hot. Rare for a 88-94 Range Rover Classic. The front seats
have been reupholstered with a matching Saddle vinyl. All windows, sunroof, centralized locks and power seat switch are all operational. The stock 120-watt a/d/s stereo system with Pioneer radio cassette head unit and CD changer work great. The troublesome EAS (air suspension) has been converted to coil springs. It has a set of Cooper made Mesa A/P LT225/75R16 mud & snow tires with much of the tread remaining. The headliner is not sagging but has a few screw holes near rear speakers. Hood and roof have been repainted but the vehicle has some oxidation and nicks in a few spots. It has had the same owner for the last 10 years (owner of a Porsche shop in Pasadena). He serviced it regularly and did the major repairs like head gaskets, radiator, etc. I have also attached photos of the cargo area as well as other areas prone to rust. The cargo area carpet, foam rubber insulation and rubber trim piece were removed offering a full view as well as pictures of additional rust prone areas showing how rust free this truck is. Merecedes-Benz EQS, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Subaru Forester Wilderness | Autoblog Podcast #702
Fri, Oct 29 2021In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. They've been driving some exciting new EVs, like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and the Mercedes-Benz EQS. They also discuss driving the new Subaru Forester Wilderness, as well as the perfectly agreeable Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid. James compares four big-name off-roaders — the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner and Land Rover Defender — based on their ability to accommodate a big load of luggage. Next they reach into the mailbag for comments on the Genesis GV70, as well as a Spend My Money question about replacing a wrecked Subaru Ascent with another three-row SUV. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Brabus takes on Range Rover Sport with Startech widebody kit
Wed, 26 Feb 2014Of all the tuners this side of AMG, none are as close to Mercedes-Benz as Brabus. After all, when Daimler needed a tuner to spruce up the Smart car, it was Brabus that it turned to. But Brabus tunes vehicles other than Mercedes - it just uses, let's call it, a pen name. It brands them Startech, like the widebody kit it's developed for the new Range Rover Sport and will present at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
The modifications center around the carbon fiber body panels Brabus (excuse us, Startech) has developed for the British sport-ute that give it over two inches of added width. The wider fender flares encompass 23-inch wheels that are forged, ceramic-coated, skinned with low-profile rubber and fitted to a lowered suspension. The front and rear bumpers have been redone in plastic and can be fitted with or without the wider fenders, and there's a three-piece roof spoiler at the back.
Startech is also offering an upgrade for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo-diesel V6 that squeezes out an extra 31 horsepower and 59 pound-feet of torque for a total of 323 hp and 501 lb-ft, dropping the 0-62 time from 7.2 seconds to 6.9. The German tuner also has a wide array of interior modifications on offer, details of which you can read about in the press release below and scope out in the high-resolution image gallery above.
This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Nov 2014As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
