Introduction:
If you’ve been looking for that well-rounded D1, this is the one! I have a lot to say about this truck and I know that all of the information will be pleasing to prospective buyers. This truck is at the top of its class with an exceptionally appointed luxury package, service profile, and popular color. I am a Land Rover Master technician with my own independent shop and I pride myself on the buck stopping here with all of the nonsense associated with these cars. I have had a blast over the last 15 years owning them, servicing them and even racing them and I strive every day to share that positive experience with my clients and new customers. This truck is no different. It came to me from long-time clients who finally bought an LR4 and they didn't want to trade this in to the dealership. This truck has years of meticulous servicing and with my eyes on it before sending it to eBay, you can trust its everything you want out of a vehicle at the top of its class. Clean California title in hand.
Service Profile:
This truck was a winner to begin with but I went ahead and took care of ALL of the major service points so that it would be a reliable performer for years to come. Here’s what I just did:
Driveability, Performance & Operation:
I can’t say enough about how great this truck drives. It is a ROCKET SHIP. It handles crisp with no wobbles or wandering. The engine purs like a kitten with no ticks, rattles or knocks and when needed, it stops on a dime! It shifts like velvet without you being able to feel it and honestly, it so smooth you don’t even hear the truck running – even at 90mph on the freeway.
All multi-function control options work perfect. Windows and Sunroof’s work perfect. AC and Heat work perfect. Rear Air works perfect. The upgraded KENWOOD Audio system with integrated iPod hook-up works perfect and has AMAZING concert quality sound. The seat leather is in ASTONISHINGLY great shape – soft and new like in feel and appearance in the front, rear and even the jump seats! All plastic’s and panels are clean and unbroken, the wood is dark and overall, the interior looks great and even smells like a new car because of the new headliner and thorough detail I put it through. There are no engine light warnings of any kind and all illuminate at bulb check key position – meaning – no hidden problems because no bulbs have been pulled!!!
Who Is this car for? Anyone really. It can make a great 1st car, off-road build platform for the off-road enthusiast, an awesome family car or even a summer-home guest vehicle. Its reliable, safe, distinctive, clean, and a total pleasure to drive. She is a used truck and resembles a loved vehicle on the road for 15 years. Interior is an A+ and the exterior is an A-. The paint, as in the pictures waxes up great, but is still subject to minimal road dings and fade. The fade being localized central to the roof and hood.
Perspective:
This truck has received about $5000 of retail servicing from my own hands at the shop. As far as Rovers go, like I’ve said, I have done EVERYTHING possible to make It a reliable family car. That said, it’s still a used car and its new owner should expect to enjoy a quality vehicle, but still be prepared to service it regularly as needed. I am not a dealer and cannot offer a warranty, the truck is being sold as is. That said, I have a handshake no warranty warranty. What does that mean? I LOVE these trucks and have had the time of my life making a career out of sharing that passion with others… I want you to love this thing too – so if something goes wrong within a reasonable amount of time, I typically have everything for these trucks on the shelf… Alternators, switches, mirrors, sensors, on and on... If something fails, I am happy to send you what I have if/when available. I have done my best to represent this truck completely and accurately and I encourage you to ask ANY and all questions.
Most recently, I sold my beloved 92 (see my completed listings) to a great guy who flew in and drove it home to Minnesota without any issues. He did it with his girlfriend and had a blast and the last I heard, he was showing it off to another jealous family member who owns an LR3. I say this because 90% of the trucks I sell are driven home – more often than not across country – and in 2 cases, to Central America. Additionally, a fellow who just recently purchased and 88 Range Rover Classic (see listings) from me is on his way to TIERRA DEL FUEGO!!! Meaning, he is taking one of my vehicles to the ends of the Earth. Another Range Rover, recently went to Russia. As we speak, 2 other recent restorations are on a cargo ship to the South Pacific to a world class collector. That's the kind of work I put into each and every truck I restore. My vehicles are WORLD PROVEN. PERIOD.
Payment: So many ways to do it. You can pay cash, You can send a check – once cleared, Ill overnight the title. Whatever we work out to make it convenient… Happy to discuss with winning bidder.
Lastly, there is NO RESERVE so bid to win!!! On that note, please understand that the winning bid is the price of the truck... it does NOT enable you to negotiate a lower price or different terms of sale so PLEASE - bid within what you are prepared to pay. Also... while I may feel that this truck is aces, you may want to light it on fire. Everyone has a different opinion so the time to discern for yourself is NOW. Not afterwards. Ebay offers a 3rd party inspection service for buyers so please utilize this if you feel necessary. Purchase of the truck implies total understanding and satisfaction.
Thanks for the interest and as always, HAPPY ROVERING! On Jan-10-14 at 18:17:56 PST, seller added the following information: - yes registration and smog are current - 124K original miles. typo in service listing due to fat fingers pounding away... ah well..! - and for those of you on asking on the east coast - NO RUST!!! happy to text more cell phone pix if necessary. front clip, jambs, arches, bulkhead and pans all factory fresh. On Jan-10-14 at 21:24:04 PST, seller added the following information: - please note the picture of the CLEAN California title in the upper right hand corner of the title under vehicle history. Additionally, I have run the carfax and she is a TWO OWNER vehicle only with an autocheck score of 77 which puts it way beyond the normal range of 16-39. The eBay note about a salvage title is WRONG as the carfax is perfect on this gal. I am happy to email the report in its entirety to anyone interested and ill be scanning it to put it up in the picture section as well. |

Land Rover Defender V8 vs. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 | V8 4x4s square off on paper
Thu, Feb 25 2021Land Rover pulled the sheet off its 2022 Defender on Wednesday, introducing another high-performance V8 to the off-road segment. This time, it's a 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 boasting 518 horsepower. It will be available in both the Defender 90 and 110 models. In the former, Land Rover says it can crack off a 0-60 run in just 4.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 149 mph. The long-wheelbase 110 will be a bit slower, but "slow" probably isn't the right adjective to use here at all. But Land Rover isn't the only automaker offering a high-performance variant of its off-road SUV. While Jeep may have been sneered at for presenting the 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 392 on the heels of the 2021 Ford Bronco's introduction, it starts to make a lot more sense in this context. There's reportedly a high-output Bronco on the way, too, so call Jeep the dinosaur of the group all you want, but you can't put a price on being first. Well, you can, actually, but that's not the point. Thankfully, both Land Rover and Jeep have provided enough specs for us to rough out a comparison chart. Since the Rubicon 392 is offered only in four-door guise, we're looking at the long-wheelbase Defender 110 as its direct competitor here. Have a look: There are a few caveats to mention off the top. For starters, we don't have an official curb weight for the V8-powered Defender yet, as Land Rover has not finalized its U.S. specs. We used the European figures (as provided by a spokesperson), which we expect to be accurate within about 50 pounds. The 0-60 time provided by Land Rover was for the Defender 90, which is smaller and somewhat lighter than the 110. When equipped with the inline-6, the Defender 110 is about a tenth of a second slower to 60 than the Defender 90, so we figure it should be roughly the same for the V8. While the Defender has nearly 50 horsepower on the Wrangler, that advantage disappears thanks to the Land Rover V8's monster weight penalty, which will fall somewhere between 600 and 700 pounds depending on equipment. Yikes. On the flip side, however, the Land Rover has the edge in top speed, and it's not even close. Chalk that up to the tires, we suspect. We know for a fact that the Rubicon 392's all-terrains dictate its speed limiter; Jeep's own engineers told us as much. This could make for a (hypothetically) interesting drag race, as the Jeep's advantage off the line may evaporate once triple digits come into play.
Jaguar-Land Rover rules out downsizing into new segments
Sun, Nov 17 2019Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) will continue expanding its portfolio of models during the 2020s, but the group confirmed it won't chase volume by branching out into smaller segments like its German rivals. The two brands will instead seek partnerships to generate economies of scale. "We should not and will not drive down into segments just to get economies of scale," said Felix Brautigam, Jaguar-Land Rover's chief commercial officer, in an interview with Autocar. He added the second-generation Range Rover Evoque (pictured) released in 2018 is already a relatively small car. It stretches 172 inches from bumper to bumper and 75 inches from side to side, so it's approximately 4 inches longer and 5 inches wider than the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf. It's about 8 inches taller than the German hatchback, however. While that's small by luxury car standards, Mercedes-Benz and BMW respectively went smaller with their Smart and Mini brands. Audi doesn't have an entry-level sub-brand, but it doesn't need to because it's part of the gigantic Volkswagen Group. Japanese luxury firms like Lexus and Infiniti are also part of bigger companies. Brautigam's comments bury numerous rumors. They confirm Jaguar won't take on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the Audi A3, and the BMW 1 Series with a model positioned below the XE, which competes against the C-Class, the A4, and the 3 Series, respectively. They also douse cold water on the born-again Freelander (which ultimately morphed into the LR2 in America), which Land Rover was allegedly developing to slot directly below the aforementioned Evoque. Ironically, JLR might soon have access to platforms capable of underpinning smaller vehicles. Parent company Tata Motors is actively looking for an outside company to link arms with the British brands, according to a separate report. Officials reportedly approached BMW -- which used to own Land Rover, and announced a joint-venture with the group in 2019 -- and Geely, the Chinese giant whose portfolio of brands includes Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Proton, London Taxi Company, Terrafugia, and half of Smart, plus a sizeable, nearly-10% stake in Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler. Geely told Bloomberg it hasn't heard from Tata or JLR. BMW and Tata remained silent. While a partnership with someone looks likely considering the significant hurdles faced by JLR, its parent company has categorically ruled out selling the duo it purchased from Ford for $2.3 billion in 2008.
Jaguar Land Rover in talks for Southern US factory
Mon, 20 Oct 2014Jaguar Land Rover is getting serious about global expansion, and that means it can't only build its vehicles in the UK anymore. The British automaker is cutting the ribbon at its new plant in China tomorrow, marking the opening of its first factory outside the UK. In 2016, it will open another factory in Brazil. But the latest intel has it that JLR is looking into a US factory, as well.
The report, which comes to us from the Sunday Times by way of Automotive News Europe, indicates that the company is evaluating locations for a North American factory, with options centering around Southern right-to-work states like South Carolina, where BMW operates its plant in Spartanburg and a wide array of other automotive operations are based as well. The JLR plant would reportedly ramp up to a capacity of 200,000 units per year.
In related news, while that new plant JLR is inaugurating in Changshu, China, is initially slated to produce the Range Rover Evoque, it is also expected to start building the new Discovery Sport as well - just like the Halewood plant in the UK that has handled Evoque assembly from the start and which just built its first Discovery Sport, as well.
