1988 LANDROVER 90 2.5 TURBO DIESEL PICKUP IN GREEN

26 Years old - Matching Nnumbers On Frame and Brake Booster - 100% US Eligible

You are bidding on a 1988 Landrover 90 pickup finished in green. The Landrover is completely standard and is as it would have been when it left the factory 26 years ago. It has covered 88,000 miles which is a low mileage for one of this age. The truck has a valid UK MOT until the end of October 2014 so you can be assured the frame is good along with brakes, suspension, steering, electrics etc as these all have to be tested for an MOT to be passed. The engine is a 2.5 turbo diesel and this is coupled to a 5 speed manual transmisson.

The exterior is in great condition for the age of the truck. To find a Landrover pickup in such good condition is rare indeed as they are usually used and abused by farmers as work vehicles etc. To find a good one that is in standard form is near impossible but here one is for sale so dont miss it. The most important thing about this is that it is structually very solid indeed. The frame is in excellent shape, the bulkhead is extremely solid and floor pans are very good indeed. Even the door frames are in good shape considering they are original. The paintwork is in very good shape indeed and the painwork has a good shine to it. The panels are all very straight and there no dings anywhere which is again rare for one of these Landrovers. The bulkhead is superbly solid as you can see from the close up images I have taken.

The interior is in good condition. The 3 seats are finished in a vinyl/leather type material. They are in good shape with just some minor wear to the drivers seat base. There are a good set of waterproof seat covers fitted also. The dashboard is all nice and complete and all switches etc work as they ought to.

The Landrover starts well from warm or from cold and the turbo diesel engine runs very well indeed. The engine revs freely and the turbo spools up nicely as it ought to. The gearbox is very good and all the gears select both up and down the gearbox as they ought to with no nasty noises etc. The clutch is very good and operates as it ought to. The brakes, steering, suspension are all good as they ought to be. The water temperature sits nicely in the middle of the gauge and the heater produces nice warm air although the blower only works on first speed. There are no warning lights and all is as it should be.To see the driving video follow this link below

Land Rover will put a Covid-nuking air filtration system in future cars

Tue, Mar 16 2021

Jaguar - Land Rover (JLR) is developing an air filtration system that inhibits up to 97% of viruses and airborne bacteria. Designed like a face mask for your car's HVAC system, it's built on Panasonic's Nanoe X technology. Most of the company's models (including the Land Rover Defender) currently come equipped with Panasonic's Nanoe technology and PM2.5 filtration. Nanoe X is 10 times more effective, according to the brand, because it relies on a high voltage to create trillions of hydroxyl (OH) radicals enveloped in nano-sized water molecules. Think of them as Roman guards in front of a fortress: they keep the bad out, and ensure only the good can come in. Viruses and bacteria proteins are denatured when they come into contact with the filtration system, meaning they can't reproduce or grow. The OH radicals also zap common allergens and mold, but they're harmless to humans. JLR stressed it's not relying on computer simulations to decide whether its filtration system works as designed. It asked British laboratory Perfectus Biomed to perform a test that simulates a ventilation system in recirculation mode for a 30-minute cycle in a sealed chamber. The results were encouraging: 97% of viruses and airborne bacteria were nuked. The carmaker pointed out Panasonic's Nanoe X technology has been independently proven to inhibit 99.995% of coronaviruses during a two-hour laboratory test carried out by French immunology lab Texcell. Future models from Jaguar and Land Rover will use this technology, though a representative for both companies declined to tell us when it will reach production, and which nameplate(s) will inaugurate it. Meanwhile, Honda launched its own coronavirus killer across the pond. It's a cabin air filter sold as a genuine replacement part that consists of four layers, including one coated with an active substance of fruit extract that inactivates nearly 100% of the viral aerosols it captures. It's available in Europe through Honda dealers, but it won't be sold in America. Jaguar Land Rover

The 10 car brands most expensive to maintain over 10 years

Mon, Apr 22 2024

Car maintenance has got to be one of the least fun things you can do with your free time, right behind going to the dentist and filing your taxes. However, depending on the brand you buy, your time spent at the shop could be much more than you bargained for. Consumer Reports’ new study on the most- and least-expensive-to-maintain car brands found that European car companies are most likely to break your wallet with costs nearly five times that of the automakers at the other end of the spectrum. Land Rover had the highest ten-year maintenance costs, at an average of $19,250. Porsche was second worst with $14,090 in costs. 10 car brands most expensive to maintain over 10 years: Land Rover: $19,250 Porsche: $14,090 Mercedes-Benz: $10,525 Audi: $9,890 BMW: $9,500 Volvo: $9,285 Infiniti: $8,500 Acura: $7,800 Mini: $7,625 Subaru: $7,200 The Euro brands at the “top” of this list arenÂ’t all that surprising. Land Rover has consistently landed as one of the most expensive vehicle brands to maintain for years now, though Porsche is generally viewed as being one of the more solid performance brands. That could suggest that some models donÂ’t always require more repairs, but the fixes they do need are significantly more expensive. Tesla, Buick, and Toyota were the three cheapest to maintain car brands, with 10-year maintenance costs of $4,035, $4,900, and $4,900, respectively. Consumer Reports noted that these numbers could be slightly skewed due to the fact that some automakers offer free maintenance for the first few years of ownership, and all companies cover their new vehicles for at least a few years after the purchase. Routine maintenance is a great way to avoid costly repairs over time, as itÂ’s much cheaper to catch a problem before it starts causing other issues. Check your oil, rotate your tires, and avoid driving like a wild person, and youÂ’ll likely fare much better than others, even if you own one of the scarier-to-maintain brands.

Jeep driver nearly gets washed away by fast moving river

Wed, May 11 2016

Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. For example, you should never attempt to cross a fast-moving river in a bone stock Grand Cherokee no matter how shallow the river looks. Especially if you don't know what you're doing. A video posted recently to the Facebook group Jeep EXPERIENCE, shows an inexperienced jeep driver learning that lesson the hard way. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The video starts innocently enough, with a group of off-roaders watching one of their friends attempt to ford a shallow looking river. Things quickly go sideways however, when the driver of the silver Grand Cherokee just plunges right in and quickly gets in over his head. The river is moving faster than the driver thinks it is, the driver panics, makes some bad decisions, then the jeep is turned over and swept downstream. Eventually, the jeep is hauled out by a Land Rover after a long comedy of errors that involves one guy losing his trousers to the current and the Cherokee ingesting untold gallons of water. What went wrong here? Well, It's pretty obvious from the video that the Cherokee driver didn't have a clear idea of where he was going or about the condition of the riverbed. He chickened out halfway across the river, and in what appears to be a misguided attempt at turning back, he reverses, digs himself deeper in the riverbed, then turned broadside on into the current. When he changes his mind again and decides to just gun it for the opposite shore, he drives directly into a deep water hazard that would have been obvious to an experienced off-roader. At that point the jeep and the driver were doomed. Hopefully the driver learned a lesson here, and hopefully he didn't pollute that river too much with the jeep's fluids.
