1988 Land Rover 110 Lhd 300tdi Auto Zf Transmission on 2040-cars
Lakeland, Florida, United States
1988 Land Rover 110 300tdi LHD SW This is a great opportunity to get an entry level 110 Diesel. You don't want to miss this chance to get a LHD 110 that is already stateside and legal. These trucks get harder and harder to bring in each year. This wonderful example will be a great starting point to build your perfect camping/adventuremobile...or you can drive it as is reliably as a DD. Everyone has their own ideas of what they need in a rig and that's why we are leaving this one up to you to personalize and build as you see fit. 100% legally imported and titled. Florida Title in hand. Truck gets a lot of attention and people love these things. Has full length roof rack and rear access ladder. Both have been texture painted black since the photos were taken. This 110 was purchased from Southern Spain in Gibraltar and then riven back up to England for shipment. As such, it is in good shape for its age and was spared from the rust of damp England. We just installed 5 brand new 235/85 Kenda MT tires that look and ride excellent. The truck runs very well and fires up right away. The 300tdi and auto came out of a low mileage discovery and were installed prior to our purchase. The engine is cleanly converted and is overall a nice install. No smoke while running or under heavy pedal. Small puff at start up but otherwise great none. The exhaust has a few leaks but it does not effect drive at all. There is only 187,000km or approximately 116,000 miles on the truck. For a 25yr old vehicle it is good shape. Frame is rot free and not covered in rust. Slight rust areas at the door bottoms, very some small rust at the upper bulkhead(easy fix if you need to) and a few small spots on the footwell. All of these are the common areas of concern with old Series adn 90/110's. Due to aodd design the water tends to pool on these surfaces and cause corrosion. However, this particular truck has a very minimal amount of oxidation. Bulkhead is otherwise solid. Structurally solid top to bottom. The paint is a bit aged in spots and it has some dents, but this is to be expected. Honestly paint and flawless exteriors are not what it's about with overlanding. As is it can be driven economically and made into the perfect adventure-mobile. Since we picked this truck up at the port in GA we have put 500km on it and it hasn't missed a beat. Recently took it to New Smyrna Beach and averaged 28mpg. It preformed wonderfully and got a lot of attention from the beach goers. For a 25yr old shed on wheels the 110 rode very smoothly and was quite comfortable cruising along at 60mph down the back roads of Central Florida. Suspension is firm as you would expect from the OME kit, but not overly so. This vehicle is 25yrs old and as such has the normal expected wear for it's age. Do not come expecting a showroom 110. If that is what you are looking for you are going to pay 30k+ and even then it will probably be RHD. That being said, it is a great truck that is the perfect starting point for your own adventure lifestyle. We aren't selling you just a truck....these things are a lifestyle. Go explore and travel well. Text for details and additional pics....it is easier for me to get back to you quickly via email/text. Calls are welcomed, however be sure and leave a message so I can remember to call you back if I don't answer. Blue roof awning is not included in sale. Key Points: *Imported legally and has passed all customs and DMV inspections. Titled, insured and driven daily currently so mileage can change. *4WD works perfectly and engages smoothly including diflock *No A/C (as some of you have asked). The 300TDI engine has a mounting location for AC to be installed if you feel the need. Honestly if you want a nice air conditioned vehicle I suggest you look towards the RRC or D1 *Transmission shifts smoothly *Brakes are working fine *Excellent Fuel economy *Brand New 235/85 Kenda MT tires and fullsize spare *Old Man Emu 755 Heavy Duty Springs *Paint is old, but really makes the truck look tough *No overheating or other problems associated with the engine *Not equipped with power steering *Has CD player but lacks speakers On Jul-03-14 at 08:33:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Please do not bid on this truck if your feedback is under 5 without first contacting me. This is to avoid any potential payment issues after sale. |

Jaguar Land Rover signs manufacturing contract with Magna Steyr
Thu, Jul 2 2015Jaguar Land Rover is in the midst of implementing big plans. Those include a raft of new models, and a series of new manufacturing facilities to build them. It seems, however, that the former is outpacing the latter, as the British automaker has just announced a new manufacturing contract to have some of its vehicles built off-site. The latest deal is with Magna Steyr, the contract manufacturer based in Graz, Austria. That could see a Land Rover produced at the same facility that has handled the Mercedes G-Class since 1979, or a Jaguar at the same place that assembled the Aston Martin Rapide until 2012 when production was moved back to the UK. The big question at this point is just what JLR will choose to have Magna build on its behalf. The British automaker isn't saying at this point, but a spokesman confirmed to Autoblog that it will be a future product – not an existing line moved from its current production site to the contract manufacturer, as Mercedes recently did with the R-Class. A timeline wasn't announced at this early stage, either, but we're told it will take about 24 months before new Jaguars or Land Rovers start rolling out of the plant in Austria. Just what those new vehicles will be remains to be seen, but Jaguar Land Rover has a number of new products on their way. It is expected to reveal in the near future a new Defender, a replacement for the current LR4/Discovery, the new Evoque convertible, a new XJ flagship sedan, and possibly a new coupe and convertible to take the place of the old XK. We'll soon see the new Jaguar F-Pace, which may be followed by additional crossovers as well. The company also recently introduced the new XE, XF, and Discovery Sport models, though given the timeframes, they'll almost certainly be produced at JLR's existing facilities. It recently opened its first overseas plant in China, has another one under construction in Brazil, and is also said to be considering a plant in North America on either side of the US-Mexican border. Jaguar Land Rover Signs Contract Manufacturing Agreement With Magna Steyr Whitley, UK - Jaguar Land Rover has agreed a manufacturing partnership with Magna Steyr, an operating unit of Magna International Inc, to build some future vehicles in Graz, Austria.
Jaguar tests autonomous vehicle technology with 100-car fleet
Wed, Jul 13 2016Jaguar Land Rover is exploring how to take autonomous vehicle technology off the paved path. But the company has plans for technology on tarmac, too. The company announced that the Jaguar division will have a fleet of 100 cars testing autonomous technologies on public roads. The testing process will cover a period of four years and begin with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems, along with a stereo camera system and autonomous vehicle software. These systems will work together to provide a variety of features that could make their way into future Jaguars and Land Rovers. The first feature in development is called "Roadwork Assist." The system relies on the stereo camera to create a 3D image the car's software can analyze. The software can identify road cones and other barriers associated with construction sites. The car will then alert the driver about entering the construction zone and provide some steering assistance to keep the car centered in its lane. Tony Harper, Jaguar's head of research, said that this system can reduce stress on the driver, and the technology could eventually be used to allow the car to pilot itself through construction zones. Another of Jaguar's proposed features is "Safe Pullaway," which also relies on cameras and software. The Safe Pullaway feature is designed to prevent close-proximity collisions in traffic jams and even in the garage. To do this, the car watches the area immediately ahead of it for obstacles. If the car detects something nearby while the driver adds throttle or shifts into gear, it will apply the brakes to prevent driving into the object. The final project on Jaguar's plate is its "Over the Horizon Warning" system. This will be one of the first features to rely on Jaguar's vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology. The idea is that connected cars in constant communication will give drivers additional warning of upcoming hazards, such as out-of-sight animals and slowed or stopped cars. In Jaguar's example of a stopped car, the stationary vehicle would send a signal alerting approaching cars of the situation. In turn, the approaching vehicles would trigger audible and visual warnings to drivers about the hidden car. Jaguar says that the system could also be applied to emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicles would broadcast a signal to alert drivers well before the lights and sirens get their attention. This would give emergency vehicles a faster, safer path through traffic.
Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."
