Ebay doesn't recognize the proper VIN so I used an newer model VIN.

Actual VIN:  SALLDHMV2AA189352

Up for consideration is a 1983 Land Rover Defender 110 LHD  with a 3.5 liter V8 and an LT 85 transmission and transfer case unit.
This truck I imported from the Netherlands and has a clear NC title.  The plan was to turn it into a full soft top and make it a beach runner but as happens with plans  sometime, they changed.  I have now gotten ahold of another project that will suck my pockets dry but I am excited to get started on that so unfortunately I can't keep both and so this one is up for sale.

When I bought it the Defender shop in Netherlands (yes, it did come from a full on Defender shop and not some shady guy buying and selling junk) the truck was used by the same guy since 2007 and then resold back to the same defender shop that I bought it from who serviced it for him through those years.  The car is in an unrestored original condition. It is in very good condition for an unrestored car. The car has little to no rust, the rust that is present is only superficial. The engine was reconditioned a year ago, and it runs great! Very smooth and good on power. Gearbox, brakes, suspension, and power steering all work as they should. The paintwork is isn't the best and depending on what your plan would be could use a paint job.  There are some small dings here and there and the right front door has a bigger dent (pic and video show this).  All cosmetics can be sorted fairly easily and considering the lack of rust this truck is very solid and has HUGE potential.  Bulkhead is gorgeous.  Chassis is in great shape and needs no attention.  Rear crossmember is also in great shape and needs no attention.  Undercarriage has strictly surface rust and can be dialed in with minimal effort.
Starts on the first turn of the key every time.  The only door bottoms that have some rust are the rear two passenger door bottoms.  One of them isn't too bad and the other could use some work.  The rest of the doors are totally solid and have zero rust.
Tires are in very good shape and have plenty of life.  Sunroof seals and doesn't leak.  Floor boards are in great shape as well and also need no attention.
Overall this truck can be either of two things:  A great daily driver with some work in progress to enjoy upon purchase or this would make an incredible build project.  Speaking of build project, if you have any interest in purchasing and building this into something special that you would like or dreamed of then mention that in your message to me and we can discuss that option as well.
I also have 4 videos posted on youtube of the defender.  Ebay won't let me post these links here so you will have to message me for the links.

I can't think of anything else at the moment.  Keep in mind this truck is 31 years old.  It is a Land Rover!!  If you are reading this advertisement then you should know and be well versed on what I'm trying to say here.  This is a very solid Defender and I am happy to answer any question you may have.

Good Luck!

Jaguar Land Rover releases a vintage-looking infotainment system for classics

Fri, Sep 7 2018

Jaguar and Land Rover have a new option for owners of its older vehicles: a touchscreen infotainment system. Much like the Porsche classic infotainment head unit released a few years ago, this one tries to blend in with its interior surroundings. Five distinct designs of these "Classic Infotainment Systems" are offered in an effort to have an option that fits well with the interior of any particular car offered by Jag or Land Rover over the past few decades. Chrome and black options are available for Jaguars, while brushed aluminum and black are the choices for Land Rovers. The infotainment system has navigation with 2D or 3D maps and Bluetooth audio. Sure, you don't need to stream Spotify in a 1970s Land Rover, but now you can. Jaguar says it'll offer much higher quality sound with a 4 x 45 watt output from the single DIN head unit, but you might need to upgrade those ancient speakers to actually take advantage of it. There's no mention of satellite radio like Porsche's unit offers, unfortunately. It is a radio though, so we get both AM and FM functionality. Jaguar says it's "compatible with negative earth vehicles" (newer vehicles use negative grounding systems) and retails for $1,796 before taxes in the U.S. You can buy and have it professionally fitted at an "authorized" Jaguar or Land Rover dealer if you'd like as well. It's easy to shake your fist at such a device for classic cars, but this head unit tried hard to be an elegant piece — we're still not sure about slotting it into an old E-Type though... Here are U.S. specific model fitments: Jaguar XJ40; XJS; XJ Series 3 Sedan Land Rover Defender 90, 110; Range Rover Classic (93-96); Discovery 1 (94-98); Freelander (97-04) Related Video: Featured Gallery Jaguar Land Rover Classic Infotainment System News Source: Jaguar Jaguar Land Rover Technology Infotainment

Jaguar Land Rover to cut output and jobs due to Brexit, diesel slump

Fri, Apr 13 2018

LONDON — Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover will cut around 1,000 jobs and production at two of its English factories due to a fall in sales caused by uncertainty around Brexit and confusion over diesel policy, a source told Reuters. Output will be cut at its central English Solihull and Castle Bromwich plants, affecting some 1,000 agency workers, the source said. A spokesman at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) declined to comment on the number of jobs which would be lost but the firm said it would be making changes to its output plans. "In light of the continuing headwinds impacting the car industry, we are making some adjustments to our production schedules and the level of agency staff," the company said in a statement. It is not renewing the contracts of a number of agency staff at the Solihull site and would be informing staff on Monday of its plans for the 2018-19 financial year. In January, the firm said it would temporarily reduce production at its other British plant of Halewood later this year in response to weakening demand due to Brexit and tax hikes on diesel cars but did not detail any job losses. Jaguar sales are down 26 percent so far this year whilst Land Rover demand dropped 20 percent in its home market as buyers shun diesel, concerned over planned tax rises and possible bans and restrictions in several countries. "It's been obvious to everyone that sales have been dropping," the source said. British new car registrations have been falling for a year which the car industry body has partly blamed on weakening consumer confidence in the wake of the Brexit vote, after record demand in 2015 and 2016. Jaguar Land Rover seeks to block U.S. imports of Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, VW SUVs

Fri, Nov 20 2020

You wouldn’t know it was about Jags and Lambos, to judge by its rather dry name: In the Matter of Certain Vehicle Control Systems. But thatÂ’s the complaint Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc filed on Thursday to block U.S. imports of Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi and Volkswagen sport utility vehicles it says are using its patented Terrain Response technology without permission. Jaguar Land Rover, a British carmaker owned by IndiaÂ’s Tata Motors Ltd., said in its filing with the U.S. International Trade Commission that the technology helps negotiate a “broad range of surfaces” and is a key feature in JaguarÂ’s F-Pace and Land Rover Discovery vehicles. “JLR seeks to protect itself and its United States operations from companies that have injected infringing products into the U.S. market that incorporate, without any license from JLR, technology developed by JLR and protected by its patent,” JaguarÂ’s lawyer, Matthew Moore, said in the filing. Representatives of Volkswagen didnÂ’t immediately respond to emails seeking comment on the complaint. Jaguar wants to block imports of PorscheÂ’s Cayenne; LamborghiniÂ’s Urus; AudiÂ’s Q8, Q7, Q5, A6 Allroad and e-tron vehicles; and VWÂ’s Tiguan vehicles. It said there are plenty of other luxury midsize SUV and compact crossover vehicles to meet consumer demand if the SUVs are banned from the U.S. Still, the premium Porsche and Audi lines provide much of the profit VW is using to fund its investments in technology for electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles and further innovations. In addition to the four brands, Volkswagen Group owns other upscale nameplates, including Bentley and Bugatti. The International Trade Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial agency that investigates complaints of unfair trade practices, like patent infringement. It canÂ’t award damages but does have the power to block products from entering the U.S. Owners of patents and trade secrets like it because it can work faster than the federal district courts -- the typical investigation is completed in 15 to 18 months. But Jaguar also filed patent lawsuits against the companies in federal courts in Delaware and New Jersey, seeking cash compensation for the use of the technology. Those cases are likely to be put on hold once the trade commission launches its investigation. The case is In the Matter of Certain Vehicle Control Systems, 337-3508, U.S. International Trade Commission (Washington).
