Mint 1994 Range Rover County Lwb on 2040-cars
Portland, Maine, United States
|
You will be hard pressed, especially on the Eastern Coast of the USA to find a cleaner, more original '94 LWB. The County has always been my wifes favorite... a few years ago, this Range Rover was sitting next to a yacht in a marina here in Maine; wearing California plates. I walked up to the eighty year old gentleman and casually said, "if you ever want to sell this, I would buy it". He stood up and said "lets do it" & I drove it home. I have owned the truck for three years & am in the process of clearing out my entire collection of cars and motorcycles. This is one of the last of fifteen vehicles to hit the auc tion block. This near mint, collector quality LWB has just over 82,000 fully documented miles. She was delivered by enclsoed truck every year back and forth from Maine to Californa... she has never seen salt or snow & her documentation is second to none. Condition... Near MINT. I am an avid automobile collector and have never seen a LWB as good as this example. I have not detailed the car for the photos included in this auction so its not the typical auction where the owners sprays the car with Armorall to make it look good for the auction. This truck never see's rain, snow or sun & is always kept in a heated shop. We drive the car no more than 2500 miles a year in sunshine only. She could use a clay bar buff and there are a few very small dings that I have not had pulled yet. I did however have my ding puller guy examine the car while working on another for me & the few small dings can be pulled & there will be no evidence of the dings. They are very difficult to have show up in the photos. As you may know, the entire body is aluminum so corrosion is not an issue except for the typical spot welds Range Rover issue in the taillight assembly. Land Rover used an aluminum panel against a steel bracket and this area on the tailgate tends to be vulnerable for these old classic Rovers. This particular rover has some slight corrosion at the spot welds and this can be fixed easily by driling out the spot welds and repainting the area around the tail lights. This is the only corrosion on the truck with the exception of the rear bumper that has some slight surface rust as shown in one picture below the 'County' logo. This will be a one hour repair for a body shop to respray the bumper. There is NO pitting, just surface rust that needs a sand & quick respray. The front ARB bumper is brand new; I never got around to buying or installing the winch. The interior is phenominal... The mats were not in the Rover when I took the photos as the carpets were just steam cleaned... but the original wool mats are in fantastic shape. All the glass is near perfect, including the rear tailgate glass which was replaced two years ago from Rovers North. All the guages work, everything electrical works inside and out as it should except the heated seats dont quite put out the heat I need but I havn't driven it in the winter so it has never been an issue. All the leather is PRIMO, still supple and just about perfect. Headliner is perfect. The cruise control does not work, never has but it just needs a new control unit. The truck, inside and out is completely original except for the ARB bumper. We replaced the bumper as we have a camp in Northern Maine where there are so many moose, that you need protection from a collision. Never had a collsion with a moose, but the front end of the truck is ready. The catylitic converter has a slight rattle to it once in a while. It is an internal baffle; being so old... I would just cut out the converter and run without one rather than replacing. The Rand Rover also leaks a few drops of oil when parked; there isn't a classic Land Rover on earth that doesn't leak a few drops so it is something one just has to get used to if you own an old Rover. If I have taken a picture of one tire for example, the other are in the exact same conditoin... same for the wheels, wheel arches, etc. Please email me with any questions and I will repsond promptly. In summary, in order to make this RR one of the best of the best; it will need a few dings pulled, respray the rear bumper & address the issue of the corrosion in way of the pop rivets in the tail light assembly. Unfortunately, this pop rivet situation is the case with all of the classic RR's. Again, after years of looking...I dont think you will find one in this condition, documented as such & with only 82,000 original miles. A day's worth of minor touch up work & you will own the finest SUV ever made. Would be perfect on the Vinyard, some estate or crusing the woods. MY APPOLOGIES TO EVERYONE.. I DELETED THE AUCTION LAST NIGHT BY MISTAKE.

Jaguar Land Rover moves closer to building Slovakia plant
Tue, Aug 11 2015Jaguar Land Rover has announced its intention to build a new assembly plant in Slovakia. Though it has yet to make the final decision, the British automaker has signed a Letter of Intent with the Slovakian government. Its next step is to launch a feasibility study before committing. If the company does go ahead with plans, it wouldn't be the first automaker – or even the first European luxury automaker for that matter – to start producing in Slovakia. Nor would it be the first Jaguar Land Rover plant outside the UK, either. The Volkswagen Group, PSA Peugeot Citroen, and Kia all manufacture in the Central European country. VW's Bratislava plant in particular handles production of the Touareg, Audi Q7, and Porsche Cayenne. In the past few years, JLR has expanded its production capacity to new locations outside of the UK. It has a new factory in China, one under construction in Brazil, and has been manufacturing in India – home country of its parent company Tata – since 2011. It recently announced a manufacturing contract with Magna Steyr in Austria, and is investing in its facilities back home as well. Though yet to be finalized, the prospect of manufacturing in Slovakia has proven more favorable to JLR than other locations in Europe or in the United States or Mexico – all possibilities that the company says it looked into. It has yet to reveal just what it would produce there, saying only that "the plant would manufacture a range of aluminium Jaguar Land Rover vehicles," that the plant would be earmarked to come online in 2018 and eventually ramp up production to 300,000 vehicles. The prevailing wisdom would seem to indicate, however, that the site is being considered for the next-generation Land Rover Defender. Jaguar Land Rover to cut more U.K. jobs as it moves Discovery output to Slovakia
Mon, Jun 11 2018LONDON — Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is set to cut more jobs in Britain as it moves all production of its Discovery car to lower-cost Slovakia before building its new Range Rover at an English factory. Britain's biggest automaker, JLR has previously said its next-generation Discovery will be built at its Slovakia plant and on Monday announced there could be some job cuts in Britain as a result. "The potential losses of some agency employed staff in the UK is a tough one but forms part of our long-term manufacturing strategy as we transform our business globally," the company said in a statement. Moving production from Britain will slash several thousands of pounds off the cost per vehicle, the firm's Chief Finance Officer Ken Gregor said last year. The new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will however be built at the firm's central English Solihull plant on an architecture which is designed to allow for diesel, petrol, electric and hybrid models to be produced. Monday's announcement comes after the firm said this year it will cut 1,000 jobs and reduce production at two of its English factories as demand for diesel cars slumps in the face of higher taxes and a regulatory crackdown. The firm has also blamed Brexit for hitting demand in Europe's second-largest autos market, where demand fell 6 percent last year, a source told Reuters in April. JLR said in January it would decide this year whether to build electric cars in its home market after announcing all of its new cars will be available in an electric or hybrid version from 2020. The company, owned by India's Tata Motors, builds nearly one in three of Britain's 1.7 millions cars but is producing its first electric vehicle, the I-Pace, in Austria. JLR's new factory in the Slovak city of Nitra is due to begin production by the end of the year and will have a capacity of up to 300,000 vehicles. It already employs 1,400 people there as it gears up to open. In Britain, the firm built just over 530,000 vehicles last year at three production facilities and also has a separate engine site and headquarters, employing roughly 40,000 people in total.
