1995 Range Rover Classic In 2008 I searched the internet for a great looking Rover. I found this one (originally blue) and purchased it for $7,500. I brought it home to San Diego, then went to work. Over the last few years I've spent over $55,000, plus a lot of sweat and love. This is the nicest Classic Rover I've seen; it runs awesome, sounds awesome, and looks awesome. I get stopped for pictures every time I take it for a drive; people love it. Below is a list of what's been done. Also listed below are links to a couple video's that show off the lights, the PA system and the exhaust. The vast majority of the work was professionally done at Premier Rover in San Diego. You can check out their site by going to: premierrover.com (Sorry, you'll have to cut and paste the link). I was going to list it for $24,500, but have aggressively priced it at $19,500. It's a steal for that. Take a look, if you have any questions... feel free to ask. *Upgraded 4.6 Rover Motor - $6,800 installed
- The new motor was put in at approximately 100,000 miles. *Complete Color Change (Ferrari Red) - $8,500 *Fabrication of external rear back pillars; stripped the leather, sealed vents, painted matt black (See Picture) - $900 *Complete 3" Rovertym Suspension Lift - $10,500 installed - Rovertym Srpings - Bilstein 7100 Gas Shocks (Front & Rear) - Rovertym Shock Mounts - Reinforced Control Arms - Great Basin Heavy Duty Drive Shafts (Front & Rear) - Stainless Steel Brake Lines *New Front & Rear Differentials (4.11 gears) - $2,400 installed *Flowmaster Stage II exhaust - $500 Installed *New Gas Tank Hoses - $300 *BFGoodrich Tires - $800 *Custom Mural by Surf Artist Aaron Chang - $700 - You can see Aaron's other work by going to: aaronchang.com/gallery (you'll have to cut & paste the link) - The mural is a "wrap" and can be removed if you'd like. *PA System & Police Siren - $650 Installed Listen to the PA System and see the lights: youtube.com/watch?v=XWUEoFLn-kw (you'll have to cut & paste the link) *Custom Roof Rack (Built and Powder Coated Matt Black) - $2,900 installed *Lighting - All lighting was purchased from VisionX - $12,600 Installed This truck is so unbelievably bright… Same lights as used on the NASA Exploration Rover. Note: The interior was my last project. It needs the front and rear seats re-upholstered, and the headliner needs to be put back in (I have it, just took it out to work on the wiring). Also, there are a few door molding pieces that need to be replaced and part of the instrument panel plastic molding is broken and needs to be replaced. All of these items are easy to do; I can have it done for you (at cost), or you can do it yourself. Again; let me know if you've got any questions... |

Jaguar Land Rover offers (some) detail about new Ingenium engine
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Jaguar Land Rover officially announced its Ingenium family of engines with the unveiling of the 2.0-liter version in the Jaguar XE concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but it kept details very thin at the time. All we knew was that the new turbocharged mills could be configured to use gasoline or diesel, and be positioned longitudinally or transversely. Months later, JLR is finally letting some more info slip about its new baby, but there are still some big questions to be answered.
For the Ingenium project, Jaguar Land Rover gave its engineers a clean sheet of paper and told them not to worry about using any previous parts or machinery. In the end, the designers came up with a family of turbocharged, aluminum-block engines based around modular, 500cc cylinders to allow it to grow or shrink as the market demanded. The layout was also made adaptable enough to incorporate hybrid drivetrains, if needed. "Being configurable and flexible are the two key strands of Ingenium's DNA because we have future-proofed our new engines from the outset," said said Ron Lee, the company's director of Powertrain Engineering.
To maximize efficiency, Jaguar promises that all versions of the Ingenium engines come with computer-controlled, variable oil pumps and water pumps to use only as much energy as needed. They also get direct injection, roller bearings for the cams and stop/start. The diesel version alone has 17 percent less internal friction than the mill it replaces, the company claims. JLR is also promising class-leading figures for Ingenium's torque and horsepower too, but it's not giving away those specs just yet.
Weekly Recap: Chrysler forges ahead with new name, same mission
Sat, Dec 20 2014Chrysler is history. Sort of. The 89-year-old automaker was absorbed into the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles conglomerate that officially launched this fall, and now the local operations will no longer use the Chrysler Group name. Instead, it's FCA US LLC. Catchy, eh? Here's what it means: The sign outside Chrysler's Auburn Hills, MI, headquarters says FCA (which it already did) and obviously, all official documents use the new name, rather than Chrysler. That's about it. The executives, brands and location of the headquarters aren't changing. You'll still be able to buy a Chrysler 200. It's just made by FCA US LLC. This reinforces that FCA is one company going forward – the seventh largest automaker in the world – not a Fiat-Chrysler dual kingdom. While the move is symbolic, it is a conflicting moment for Detroiters, though nothing is really changing. Chrysler has been owned by someone else (Daimler, Cerberus) for the better part of two decades, but it still seemed like it was Chrysler in the traditional sense: A Big 3 automaker in Detroit. Now, it's clearly the US division of a multinational industrial empire; that's good thing for its future stability, but bittersweet nonetheless. Undoubtedly, it's an emotion that's also being felt at Fiat's Turin, Italy, headquarters as the company will no longer officially be called Fiat there. Digest that for a moment. What began in 1899 as the Societa Anonima Fabbrica Italiana di Automobili Torino – or FIAT – is now FCA Italy SpA. In a statement, FCA said the move "is intended to emphasize the fact that all group companies worldwide are part of a single organization." The new names are the latest changes orchestrated by CEO Sergio Marchionne, who continues to makeover FCA as an international automaker that has ties to its heritage – but isn't tied down by it. Everything from the planned spinoff of Ferrari, a new FCA headquarters in London and the pending demise of the Dodge Grand Caravan in 2016 has shown that the company is willing to move quickly, even if it's controversial. While renaming the United States and Italian divisions were the moves most likely to spur controversy, FCA said other regions across the globe will undergo similar name changes this year. Despite the mixed emotions, it's worth noting: The name of the merged company that oversees all of these far-flung units is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Obviously the Chrysler corporate name isn't completely history.
Jaguar CEO says people just don't want EVs right now
Mon, Jun 22 2015"Customers are not impressed with it currently." These are the words of one Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, spoke at the Automotive News Europe Congress in Birmingham, England. The "it" Speth is referring to is battery technology, which he characterized as "too heavy, too expensive," and with power density that's "too low." That all could go some way towards explaining why the British automaker has yet to bring an electric vehicle to market, why it killed the C-X75 hybrid-turbine supercar project, and why it only recently started offering hybrid versions of its Range Rover models (and has yet to offer them in the United States). That doesn't mean the company won't pursue electric propulsion in the future, though. According to Automotive News Europe, Speth forecasts that "the next generation of batteries will be higher density, lower weight and the cost will come down." What he didn't say, exactly, is when he expects that next generation of battery tech to come around – or when JLR will start to more closely embrace electric propulsion. In the meantime, Jaguar Land Rover will continue investing in research and development. Since Tata acquired the brands from Ford seven years ago, JLR has quadrupled its R&D budget and doubled the number of engineers on staff. Related Video:
