This wonderful 1995 Range Rover Classic LWB has been my daily driver for the past 4+ years.  Its proven to be very reliable on long trips as I've driven it from New Jersey to New Orleans and back twice a year since owning it, without any issues.  I've been reassigned to San Diego and have decided not to take the Landy with me since I won't be needing a daily driver.

I've kept up with regular oil changes every 5,000 miles and I change the differential fluid every 10,000.  Around 123,000 miles the transmission fluid was drained and a new filter was installed as well as a new fuel and air filter.  Around that time the Rover was lifted 2" using Big Blue Springs and Pro Comp Shocks sourced from DAP.  The brake rotors, pads, two hubs, and bearings on all four wheels were also replaced.  The tires are BF Goodrich All terrain T/A KO with approximately  8,000 miles on them.  Less than 500 miles ago I replaced all the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and ignition coil (bosch)  with genuine parts.  The viscous coupling unit in the transfer case was just replaced a month ago and the truck is turning like a dream now.  I had it overheat on me once while I was driving around Pensacola in August, so I replaced the viscous fan clutch and have not had any trouble since.  Other small thing which have been done are replacing the roto-flex coupling, all three u joints, new gaskets on the y pipe, a new starter motor, and four new mudflaps.  It has a new battery as of 2 weeks ago. The head gasket, serpentine belt, tensioner, and stepper motor were all replaced by the previous owner shortly before I bought the truck.

A while back the rear ring and pinion in the rear differential failed on me, just before I was planning on a longer trip.  Being pressed for time I decided to replace the entire differential with a used unit instead of rebuilding the old one.  The replacement has done just fine driving around, but the bearing in it whines and will have to be addressed at some point.  The power steering hoses leak slightly, I've tightened them before which temporarily stops the leak, but it always comes back.

The leather in the interior has held up very well over the years.  The headliner is sagging mostly in the rear of the vehicle.

The body has a couple of dings and dents in the sides and the hood, but is otherwise in pretty good shape.  The under body is clear of rust and the only problem is a bolt in panel behind the right rear wheel well (pictured).  The hood is the only part of the body showing rust and it has manifested as a few small holes.  The rear hatch must have been replaced at some point during the Rovers life because it shows absolutely no rust.

If you have any questions about the truck or would like pictures of something specific, please let me know and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.  If you'd like to ship the vehicle you'll have to arrange it yourself, but I'll be happy to assist with getting it on the flatbed.

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.

Question of the Day: What's the greatest British car ever?

Fri, Jul 15 2016

The British automotive industry has produced everything from high-production econo-commuters to staggeringly luxurious oligarch-wagons, along the way winning plenty of races and building plenty of beautiful machines. The original Mini led directly to the past half-century of transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive cars built everywhere, the MGB put the sporty little convertible into everyone's reach, and the Morris Oxford became the most beloved motor vehicle in India. So many to choose from, but we want you to pick one. What will it be? Related Video:
