If you having been looking for an excellent 2004 Disco 2, arguably the best year for these trucks; this is the one. It has been maintained with an open checkbook and is turn-key, not some poorly maintained Land Rover owned by an idiot who didn't take care of it and now has to dump it because it's got a ton of issues they don't want to pay to fix. There seems to be an abundance of these type of trucks. This truck has been loved and taken care of by an enthusiast. I've had a 95 county classic lwb and a 98 Disco LE over the last 10 years, so am familiar with LR quirks. This Disco is my daily driver and has been completely reliable for both my regular work commute and longer weekend trips we take very other weekend. I am selling due a the purchase of a property that needs renovating, otherwise I would keep this. If you have looked you will know that while these are plentiful, good ones are HARD TO FIND. I looked at many before choosing this one.
Here are the basics;
Newish tires (90% tread), newish brakes/rotors (1000 miles), new radiator, all fluids done, new water pump, new heated windshield, high profile Safety Devices Roof Rack (so both working/non leaking sunroof windows open fully), ARB bumper.
No warning lights, engine ticks,or overheating. Has balance of e-z care extended warranty (expires in November of this year) which is transferable for 50 bucks. Most importantly, at 72k miles the engine was completely rebuilt at the dealer who was friend of previous owner. This was an $9000 ( I have receipt from dealer) top to bottom job, not done by a shade tree mechanic, but by a mechanic who specializes in these engines and owns this same model of disco. It now has just over 10k miles and runs better than new. The best part is that having the "hi hats" eliminates the expensive dropped sleeve issue the 4.6 engines in these trucks are known to have. This is the reason I bought the truck as any Disco 2 with a 4.6 that is original to the truck is a susceptible to this issue due to design flaw and it's an expensive fix.
Slight dimples/puckering beginning in headliner, wear on emergency brake pleather gaitor, and two shallow pencil eraser size dings on hood front. Other than those cosmetic issues, everything works as it should and is excellent.
 If you are serious about one of these trucks, do your research; you get what you pay for. They clean up really nice but if not cared for, can be money pits. These are not Hondas and need to be maintained and checked regularly. If you get one, get one that was was treated well, continue to treat it well, it will treat you well. This is the last year of the classic boxy design when a lot of the previous years kinks were worked out.
I am happy have a qualified mechanic look at this and verify all I have said; I live near several. You will not be disappointed, it is as described. This truck is ready to go and needs nothing. I am not a dealer, this is a used truck, so I cannot offer guarantees other than having receipts for all work myself and last owner did. Truck is, as is, where is, an exceptional 9 year old truck. This is the Westminster SE, so a bit more uncommon.
I will not pay for shipping but am happy to assist you in shipping. Please ask your wife, husband, spiritual advisor, secure your funds, etc etc. I know the car up and down and am happy to answer questions. I hold a clean title, no liens, etc, just ready to roll. You will love this truck and I hope it goes to a great home. It will be missed. I drive it daily so mileage will increase slightly.

2023 J.D. Power APEAL Study shows new-car customer satisfaction scores slip

Thu, Jul 20 2023

J.D. Power survey results have been slightly up but mostly down for automakers this year, literally. In February, the 2023 Vehicle Dependability Study showed an overall decline compared the 2022 a month before the Customer Service Index Study did the same. The trend reversed in June with a better overall score on the 2023 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study than in 2022, then declined again the same month on with a lower overall score on the 2023 Initial Quality Study. The declines continue with the 2023 J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, overall satisfaction among the 84,555 respondents down two points overall compared to 2022, to 845 out of 1,000 points. Because last year's score dropped compared to 2021, this year marks the first consecutive decline in the study's 28-year history. The study tries to "[measure] owners' emotional attachment and level of excitement with new vehicle" after 90 days of ownership by asking new owners to rate 37 attributes in 10 areas around the vehicle, such as the feeling they get when they hit the accelerator. Satisfaction with nine of the attributes is down this year versus last, fuel economy the only segment to show better results with 15 points more satisfaction. Styling and infotainment are big drags on satisfaction. Responses to new car exterior looks tallied 888 points, down from 894 last year, the largest drop in this year's study. On the digital side, less than half of those surveyed this year said they prefer using a manufacturer's built-in infotainment. From 70% of respondents in 2020 preferring to use a manufacturer's in-house software to play audio instead of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, that's 56% in 2023. Going all-in on Google appears to have the best effect. J.D. Power said that vehicles with both Google's Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and Google Automotive Services (GAS) "score higher in the infotainment category than those with no AAOS whatsoever. AAOS without GAS receives the lowest scores for infotainment of the three categories."  Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, said, "Despite the technology and design innovations that manufacturers put into new vehicles, owners are lukewarm about them. While innovations like charging pads, vehicle apps and advanced audio features should enhance an owner’s experience, this is not the case when problems are experienced.

Jaguar Land Rover opening its first U.S.-based classic center in Georgia

Sun, Aug 19 2018

Jaguar Land Rover Classic currently operates two of its Works Centres, one in Coventry, England and the other in Essen-Kettwig, Germany (pictured). Just in time for Pebble Beach, the English carmaker has announced that it will bring its first facility to the United States next year, having signed a deal to open the latest Works operation in Savannah, Georgia. To be located in the Crossroads Business Park near Gulfstream Aerospace, the facility will engage in the sales, service, and restoration of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles out of production for at least ten years. The 150,000-square-foot Coventry site opened two years ago and is said to be the largest dedicated factory workshop of its kind (the largest unaffiliated shop is in the Philippines). Jaguar builds its continuation cars there, like the D-Type and XKSS, while Land Rover uses it to build the Defender Works V8. Shoppers can also buy vintage models off the showroom floor, a variation of the Certified Pre-Owned program called Works Legends, that come with a 12-month warranty. Or, Jaguar Land Rover will locate, restore, and maintain one of the classic company products that a buyer chooses. In the UK, a Land Rover Series 1 starts at around $90,000, a Jaguar E-Type starts at around $400,000. The 48,000 Essen-Kettwig center opened last year with the same brief, and the U.S. center can provide those services to the world's largest classic car market. Construction on the 75,000-square-foot complex is scheduled to begin next August, and the facility will include a 42-bay workshop and showroom. The automaker will invest from $10 to $15 million, and predicts more than $45 million in revenue. Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison told The Savannah Morning News that JLR will hire 75 workers at a starting salary of $80,000. Editors’ Picks October 2022 | Electric trucks and some excellent SUVs

Wed, Nov 2 2022

This month sees a bevy of totally new or totally redesigned cars gain Editors’ Pick status. Important EVs like the F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV quickly jump into the list, and they do so with authority, as all our editors love these trucks. The Range Rover is always a superb experience, and this generation proves to be no different. Plus, the new generation of Kia Sportage continues to surprise and impress. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in October that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 GMC Hummer EV The Four-Wheel-Steer system lets the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup m View 17 Photos Quick take: The Hummer amazes as an electric supertruck with its wild acceleration, incredible off-road capability, luxuriousness and epic utility. It's far from a "green" eco-friendly vehicle, but that's not the point of this technological powerhouse. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Raptor R, Ram 1500 TRX Pros: Stupid quick, tons of tech, off-road capability in spades Cons: Not efficient, annoying in tight spaces, price From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "I don't think I've driven a more ridiculous vehicle this year, but that's sort of the point with the Hummer. There's a great argument against this sort of EV in that it doesn't live up to being an efficient and planet-friendly vehicle, but hey, that's not the point. The Hummer EV is a supertruck and wild technological masterpiece for off-roading in the same way that a mid-engine supercar is to track performance. It's not meant to be the EV everybody drives to work and back (mostly because few can afford it), but it serves as a line in the sand of what can be done with electric off-road trucks. This pickup rules, and if you can afford one, you're going to love it." Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder — "This Hummer revival is a showcase of technology and capability on the part of GM, making it an absolute blast to drive and a joy to use.
