2000 Land Rover Discovery II Series

My wife has owned this car since 2003 and is only the second owner.  Since then she has only averaged 4900 miles a year in it.  She lived across the street from the hospital where she worked.  It's the sturdiest car I've ever driven and has a very safe feel to it.  It has a very heavy frame and body making it nearly as heavy as a full size SUV.  It's seen a little snow and ice in Oklahoma, but it's NEVER BEEN STUCK.  It's also never been off road and has no rust!  The car has no problems with city or highway driving and never overheats.  This car would be an excellent weekend/trail car for adventurers, a learning car for a young driver, or a daily driver for a Rover lover.

The interior materials are durable and still in good condition, even the floor mats.  There are no warning lights on and to the best of my knowledge, all the electronic items are in good working order.

The car has never been wrecked!  The exterior paint is in good condition and shines when washed.  The truck starts easily every time.  It has new tires with less than 5k miles on them.  The brakes are good and stop the truck well.  The interior fuse box has been replaced and is working.

The V8 engine runs strong.  I just replaced the idler and tensioner pulleys, so now it's quiet.

We've never had any problems at all with the transmission or drivetrain or suspension.

AC is cold and working fine.  (We couldn't survive here without it.)

The stereo still sounds very good.  It has AM/FM and Weather Band!  The speakers seem to be in good condition.  The tape player and the 6 CD Changer both work.

As stated on the gas cap, premium fuel is suggested and we have ALWAYS used it.  We also have BOTH keys and the remote feature works on both.

Cons:

The truck is not perfect and is not being offered with any kind of warranty.   The paint finish is good, but it has a couple of door dings and little scratches on the driver's door and the front passenger's door (see photos).

It has a small leak from the front sunroof that drips from the headliner on the passenger side during a heavy rain (see photo).  It's done this for a while, but the car has been in the garage so much and driven so little, that I've never tried to fix it.  Aside from the small stain, the headliner appears to be in perfect condition and does not droop anywhere.

The rear drivers side door lock sticks and may need a motor module.  I just keep it locked.

The valve cover bolts were loose and allowing a small leak, but since tightened appear to have sealed the leak.

I'm sure I've forgotten something, so please ask any questions you have.  Look at my feedback and bid with confidence.  I cannot deliver nationwide, so I'm listing this as 'local pickup', but you could arrange for delivery to your home at your expense.

Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.

10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019

Tue, Dec 24 2019

It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references.  Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.

Frankfurt Motor Show Notes: Why Jaguar decided to build an SUV

Wed, Sep 16 2015

It was inevitable. Jaguar had to make an SUV, and that notion became reality this week with the debut of the F-Pace, an all-wheel-drive five-seater that will launch in the United States next spring. Some purists may cringe. But in an era when Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and other traditional luxury brands are all building or (planning to build) SUVs, Jaguar had to evolve. While it seems like a leap for Jaguar to make an SUV, longtime design director Ian Callum said it's been in the works for years. "The first time I was asked the question was when I arrived 16 years ago," he said. So in 1999 (and probably well before that), Jaguar was already thinking SUV. What took so long? "It wasn't a priority," Callum said. Jaguar was concentrating on fixing its existing lineup, which was pockmarked with holes and poorly selling products, like the X-Type. Along the way, Jaguar and sister brand Land Rover were sold by Ford to Indian conglomerate Tata Motors. Flash forward several years, and Jaguar and Land Rover are both experiencing a resurgence in the United States and around the world. Jaguar's lineup is flush with the E-Type's modern successor, the F-Type, plus a new version of the XF. The XJ received a 2016 freshening, and the smaller XE sedan is on the way. Jaguar put its house in order as other factors conspired to make a crossover timely. Fuel prices stayed relatively low, and consumers in the US and China remained steadfast in their love for utility vehicles of all stripes. Making a Jaguar SUV became a priority. "The world was telling us in no uncertain terms this is what they wanted," Callum said. "Not to be in the sector would be a little naive for the sake of purity." Jaguar proved its intent two years ago when it revealed the C-X17 crossover concept at Frankfurt, and the final production model is close to the prototype's striking looks. "I thought we managed to maintain that spirit," Callum said. It's a true Jaguar, with cues from the F-Type, 1968 XJ, and other famous models. Who would have thought Jaguar would make an SUV? "I certainly didn't," Callum admitted. But the F-Pace is here. If Callum is okay with it, purists can be, too. Quick Hits Opel retrenches for 2016 and beyond Opel used the Frankfurt show to display its new generation of the Astra, a critical vehicle line for the German division of General Motors.
