OUR DRIVING FORCE IN BUILDING THESE LAND ROVERS IS TO KEEP THE PRICE AFFORDABLE. THESE TYPES OF VEHICLES RECENTLY HAVE BROUGHT UPWARDS OF $35,000 TO $60,000. WE ARE NOWHERE NEAR THAT NUMBER. WE DO NOT SPEND $8,000 FOR PAINT JOBS; WE DO NOT SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS REBUILDING THEM GROUND UP MECHANICALLY. BUT WE START WITH A VERY GOOD PERFORMING TRUCK. HERE IS A LAND ROVER THAT MANY OF YOU HAVE ASKED FOR: A GOOD, SOLID, LOW MILEAGE MILITARY TRUCK….. AND ABOVE ALL…..LEFT HAND DRIVE. THESE MILITARY VEHICLES ARE BUILT TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS AND WERE DEPLOYED IN PLACES LIKE ITALY, FRANCE AND SOUTH AMERICA. THESE ARE HEAVY DUTY CHASIS AND HEAVIER DUTY RUNNING GEAR. THIS IS A TRUCK THAT HAS BEEN SERVICED TO THE POINT THAT IT IS READY FOR ANYTHING YOU MAY HAVE IN STORE FOR IT. THE FRAMES ARE PERFECT. THE BODY AND PAINT, AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PHOTOS….ARE WHAT THEY ARE. I BELIEVE YOU COULD GET IN THIS AND DRIVE IT ACROSS COUNTRY WITH NO WORRIES. IT SHOWS AN ORIGINAL 18,000 MILES. THE MOTOR, TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL ALL WORK AND PERFORM AS THEY SHOULD. ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN TRAVELING AROUND, YOU MAY HAVE OBSERVED MILITARY INSTALLATIONS WITH HUNDREDS OF MILITARY VEHICLES JUST STOCKPILED “AT THE READY.” THAT IS OBVIOUSLY THE CASE WITH THIS TRUCK. IT HAS A NEW PVC SOFT TOP WHICH IS MUCH LIGHTER THAN HEAVY CANVAS……AND MILDEW RESISTANT. THIS TRUCK IS BASICALLY A RUST FREE UNIT JUDGING BY THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND INSIDE THE FENDER WELLS. I AM PUTTING THIS LAND ROVER UP FOR A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. I'M SURE MANY OF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE QUESTIONS. PLEASE CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR OFFERS. I REMIND YOU, THIS 30 YEAR OLD TECHNOLOGY WILL REQUIRE MAINTENANCE AND TWEEKING. DON'T EXPECT TO HAVE A MAINTENANCE FREE "NEW CAR" EXPERIENCE ...AND WORKING ON THESE OLD CLASICS IS HALF THE FUN. Cargo ship carrying 1,200 Jaguars and Land Rovers deliberately run aground [w/video]
Mon, Jan 5 2015A cargo ship carrying a load of new cars out of Southampton has run aground in the English Channel in between England and the Isle of Wight. The vessel apparently suffered some sort of failure just 45 minutes after leaving port that caused it to list heavily to the starboard side before the crew deliberately beached it on Bramble Bank to prevent the ship from capsizing altogether. The vessel, called the Hoegh Osaka, is a 590-foot car carrier weighing some 57,000 tons and registered in Singapore. Although several automakers (including Honda and Bentley) were reportedly looking into whether they had cars on board, the vessel is said to have been filled to approximately one-third its capacity, with 1,400 vehicles on board – including 1,200 Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, 65 Mini models and one Rolls-Royce Wraith. 70 to 80 pieces of construction equipment were also said to be on board. The Hoegh Osaka was en route from the southern British port of Southampton to Bremerhaven, Germany. Fortunately, no major injuries have been reported. The crew was mostly airlifted by helicopter off of the beached ship, with two crew members evacuated by lifeboat. One crew member reportedly jumped over 25 feet off the ship into the water before being immediately retrieved by rescue workers. According to the Daily Mail, two crew members were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken leg. It may take several days, if not longer, to extract the vessel from the sand bank and ascertain the damage to the ship and its cargo. An early attempt to free the ship with tugboats failed, meaning that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency may have to wait until more favorable high tides to try again before towing the ship back into the port. Bramble Bank, where the vessel was run aground, is a well-known obstacle to maritime navigators. The Queen Elizabeth 2 ran aground there in November 2008 with 1,700 passengers on board, but was quickly freed by four tugboats and was able to continue on its way. Two local yacht clubs also play a cricket match there every year at low tide. The vessel's operator, Hoegh Autoliners, praised the skill and quick thinking of the crew in acting to prevent the ship's capsizing by running her aground on the soft, sandy shoal. Tata to get Jaguar and Land Rover tech, platforms too?
Tue, 22 Jul 2014Since buying Jaguar Land Rover, Indian automaker Tata has generally left its luxury arm's platforms and technology alone. However, those days might be gone. The two of them are gradually growing closer with coordinated development and rumors of shared platforms. And it looks like all of that work and money is finally going to pay off with an actual vehicle in the near future.
According to Australian website Drive, Tata wants to make its cars more attractive to buyers outside of India, and to do that the company knows it must improve quality. The Indian company is being careful, though, because it doesn't want to dilute the Jaguar or Land Rover brands with cheap models. "You're going to see in the future a lot of sharing of technologies and platforms over time, but you won't see a JLR with a Tata badge on it," said Darren Bowler, managing director of Tata's Australian distributor, to Drive.
According to Bowler, these future vehicles are already on the way. Tata and JLR have a global platform in the works for 2017 that both companies could use for cars or crossovers. He also hinted that Jaguar's new Ingenium engines could be shared among the brands in the future, too.
Jaguar Land Rover recalls Takata airbag-equipped cars
Fri, Aug 5 2016In the latest chapter of what feels like the never-ending recall, Jaguar Land Rover announced that it's calling back 2009-2011 Jaguar XFs and 2007-2011 Land Rover Range Rovers for defective Takata airbags on the front passenger side. These Takata airbags have propellant that may have degraded and, if activated, could release metal shrapnel. The company is breaking up the recall into four phases, since currently there are not enough parts to do a full recall. Since the airbags can be more seriously affected by high heat and humidity, the first phase will cover vehicles that were sold and/or registered in regions with high temperatures and humidity. The regions included are as follows: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the US Virgin Islands. Other phases will begin as parts become available, and priority will be given to regions at greater risk of having defective equipment. Jaguar Land Rover encourages owners of affected vehicles to go to www.SaferCar.gov to check if their vehicle is included in the current recall. The first phase includes 54,000 of 108,000 affected vehicles. The company is also notifying owners of the issue, who will eventually get a second notification when parts are available so they can schedule a time to have the airbags replaced. Related Video:
