First : I have never sold or bought before through ebay, so you will not find any review under my name. Sorry, cannot do anything about that before I make the first sale. You can contact me by email or phone and decide wetter you can trust me :) Second: this listing is for a 1984 Land Rover Defender. Ebay doesn't recognize VIN numbers for import cars after 1981 so I listed it as a 1980 Ok, this listing is for a very nice and original Defender 110 Left Hand Drive. THis car is imported from the Netherlands earlier this year and past customs inspection without a problem. (I imported it together with two 110 Diesel, LHD, contact me for these if you are interested) This might be one of the best, original cars for sale in the US right now. Look at the pictures. I tried to attach pictures with all the areas which are normally a problem for Defenders like bulkhead, foot wells, frame and door frames. The good: - appr 75,000 miles. I have no evidence for this, there is no service history but given the condition of this car I believe this to be accurate. - nice running V8 engine, easy starter, runs smooth, plenty of power. - all original paint, except left wing which has been sprayed. Very professional but missing the county striping - interior very nice, no missing peaces, headliner nice, seats not ripped, carpet in load area all factory original. Only front mat are replaced by rubber mats. - frame, in very good condition, NO rust !!! NO welding and NO welding needed. !!!! I have had many Defenders but never saw a frame like this. - doorframes, very good NO rust - body, no aluminum oxidation. nowhere. - BF Goodrich tires less then 500 Kmiles, spare is new - one year old, original Land Rover alloys. Needs attention: - 2nd gear grinds sometimes when shifting back from 3 to 2 at higher speed. Easy to drive with, just don't want to have discussion about it. - power steering is leaking a little. Never had to fill it up so far but there is a little oil under there when parked overnight. If you want to buy a 110 Defender you should check this one out for sure. Beside the very high priced restored ones, you will have a hard time finding one in this condition. I am close to Grand Rapids airport and can pick serious buyers up from there. You can then also check out one of my other Defenders. Car comes with all documents to obtain a title in your state. Please check yourself though for CA, I have heard it is difficult or not possible to get a title for imports over thers. |

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota
Wed, 12 Dec 2012As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.
Jaguar Land Rover's latest tech makes roads safer for bikes [w/video]
Tue, Jan 20 2015Safety in automobiles isn't just about protecting the occupants anymore. It's about protecting pedestrians who might be struck by an automobile, and as Jaguar Land Rover is demonstrating, it's about protecting cyclists as well. The latest experimental safety system from the British automaker is called Bike Sense, and it builds upon technologies the company has demonstrated recently, taking them a step further to make the road safer for those riding on two wheels. The system uses a combination of colors, sounds and vibrations to alert the driver of a potential hazard that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Demonstrated on an XJ sedan, the system identifies nearby two-wheeled vehicles as pedal-powered or motorized, and alerts the driver accordingly. If a cycle is passing a the vehicle's blind spot, the top of the seat will vibrate to virtually "tap" the driver on the left or right shoulder, prompting him or her to look over that shoulder for the hazard. LEDs inside the cabin will then illuminate amber to red in the direction that the bike is passing. The system will even chime a bicycle bell or motorcycle horn as the two-wheeled vehicle approaches, and vibrate or stiffen the accelerator pedal if the driver keeps moving towards the obstacle. And if an occupant of the parked vehicle starts to open the door into the path of moving vehicle, it'll flash a light, sound an alarm and even vibrate the door handle to warn the occupant of the oncoming hazard. We could imagine the alerts getting a little distracting, but JLR says the system is designed to prioritize potential hazards when their are groups of pedestrians, bicyclists and/or motorcycle riders on a busy urban street. This is, of course, just the latest in a long string of new systems JLR has under development, following such technologies as the Transparent Bonnet, the Smart Assistant, the Virtual Windscreen for track sessions and the 360 Virtual Urban Windscreen for city driving. Is Land Rover developing an all-electric Tesla Model X rival?
Fri, Oct 31 2014Tesla will soon put its all-electric Model X crossover on sale, and if it's anywhere near as successful as the brand's four-door sedan the Model S, then it'll be a hell of an attention getter for mainstream automakers. Land Rover isn't waiting for proof of the Model X's success, though. According to reports, Land Rover could be preparing an all-electric Range Rover. Likely more crossover than full-size SUV, the new vehicle would probably be far more aerodynamic than current models. But the new EV would still take advantage of LR's high-tech aluminum structure, and could potentially be a close relative of the production Jaguar C-X17, according to Autocar. It seems unlikely that this new Land Rover EV will have the off-road chops of the brand's other models, but that doesn't mean that will be useless on the rough stuff. AC, citing Land Rover design boss Gerry McGovern, claims that a height-adjustable air suspension will allow a low, aerodynamic ride height for high-speed travel while it can easily be transitioned to a higher level for off-road duty. As for range, AC believes (and we agree) that a successful effort would need to get as close as possible to the Model S' 265-mile EV range. Autocar is anticipating a price of around 90,000 pounds, equivalent to $144,000, which roughly matches the cost of a UK-market Model S. If the Range Rover EV comes stateside, we'd wager that prices will start under six figures, much like the US-market Tesla.
