Lamborghini driver revs while Aventador bursts into flames [UPDATE]

Thu, Oct 15 2015

UPDATE: The Aventador obviously has a V12, not a V10. It has been corrected below. Listening to an Italian V10 V12 screaming at the limit is one of the true joys of the automotive hobby, especially with the visual accompaniment of little licks of flame are shooting out of the exhaust. There's a time and a place for such an aggressive mechanical display, though. This Aventador owner in Dubai hopefully learned his lesson about being too exuberant with the throttle while stationary after his Lamborghini went up in flames. Several bystanders yelled out warnings, but the driver must have been partially deaf from revving the V10 V12 a little too often. The guy just drove off with flames eating up an increasing amount of the Aventador's rear. He didn't get too far though before the little blaze turned into a full-blown conflagration. While this was an expensive mistake, but the driver reportedly wasn't injured, according to The Telegraph.

Lamborghini introduces Huracan Super Trofeo EVO

Thu, Sep 21 2017

It's been a few years since Lamborghini debuted its Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo racecar for its one-make series, but that car still looks ferocious. Now, Lamborghini has made some updates to the car, and announced that the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO will be taking to the track in spring 2018. The EVO is mechanically the same, but includes a number of visual and aerodynamic updates. The new body kit, designed by Centro Stile Lamborghini and Dallara Engineering, maintains the same amount of downforce, but decreases resistance to make the car more efficient and stable at speed. View 18 Photos Next year, all cars competing in the European, Asian and North American series of Lamborghini Super Trofeo will use the EVO configuration. The Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO is priced at $295,000, but current Huracan Super Trofeo owners will be able to purchase the body kit to upgrade their existing car. In addition to the launch of the updated racecar, Lamborghini Squadra Corse announced a partnership with Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis, so we can expect tie-ins between the two brands. The new (and pretty wild) livery on the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO includes Roger Dubuis branding. Roger Dubuis has also launched a limited edition of Excalibur Aventador watches. Harry Metcalfe shows off his Lamborghini Countach

Sat, Jan 17 2015

Harry Metcalfe may no longer be editing the Evo magazine he founded, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still have octane pumping through his veins – or that he isn't still producing world-class automotive content. In this latest video released on his YouTube channel Harry's Garage, Metcalfe shows off is 1987 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole. The precursor of today's Aventador, the Countach was Sant'Agata's longest-serving mid-engined twelve-cylinder supercar, remaining in production from 1974 (after the Miura was discontinued) until 1990 (when the Diablo replaced it), and earned its place of prominence on the walls of so many childhood bedrooms. Metcalfe's was a later model from 1987 – the London Motor Show car from that year, in fact – packing the enlarged 5.2-liter V12 with the four-valve heads, those fantastical air vents and that giant rear wing. Harry even had the legendary Valentino Balboni to sign the interior. The video is a full half-hour long, but even if you've only got a few minutes, it's worth watching just the beginning to hear it starting up.
