Lamborghini Aventador SV production limited to 600 units

Tue, Apr 21 2015

Six hundred. That's how many examples of the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Lamborghini will make. Not per year, but in total. So if you want one, you'd better act fast. The production figure was announced at the new SV's Chinese debut at the Shanghai Motor Show this week, following the supercar's worldwide debut at the Geneva Motor Show and its subsequent North American premier at Amelia Island. That's where the Raging Bull marque announced the Superveloce's price at $485,900 before tax and destination charges, or $493,095 all-in. For all that scratch, you get a supercar with a good old-fashioned, naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 driving 740 horsepower to all four wheels for a 0-62 time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 217 miles per hour. That would make the SV one of the fastest cars on the road (if it were legal to drive that fast) this side of a hypercar costing twice or more what Lambo's asking for the Aventador SV. Now if that production run seems rather small to you, bear in mind that Sant'Agata only produced 2,530 vehicles last year, and that was an all-time record for the marque. Go back a more than a decade and Lambo wasn't even coming close to completing that many vehicles in a calendar year altogether. LAMBORGHINI PRESENTS THE NEW AVENTADOR LP 750-4 SUPERVELOCE AT AUTO SHANGHAI 2015 Shanghai, 20, April, 2015 – At the 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Automobili Lamborghini presents the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce. Making its Asian debut, the AVENTADOR LP 750-4 SUPERVELOCE is the most sports-oriented, fastest and most emotional series model ever produced by Lamborghini, therefore giving a precise demonstration of Lamborghini's brand values – Visionary, Cutting-edge, Pure. The car is limited to 600 units worldwide. The HURACAN LP 610-4, the successor to the iconic Gallardo, enters the same stage in Hall 6.1. Redefining the benchmark for luxury super sports cars in this segment, the Huracan has not only sustained the successful market performance of its predecessor, but is also destined to create a new legend. The AVENTADOR LP 700-4 PIRELLI EDITION, which celebrates the long and ongoing collaboration between the Raging Bull and the prestigious Italian tire manufacturer, is also introduced for the first time to China at this year's Auto Shanghai. The year 2015 also marks Lamborghini's 10-year anniversary of entering into the China Market, which remains one of the most important markets for Lamborghini worldwide.

Original Lamborghini Countach designer wants no association with 2021 remake

Tue, Oct 26 2021

The designer of the groundbreaking 1974 Lamborghini Countach, Marcello Gandini, has issued a remarkable statement to the press regarding the recently released Countach LPI 800-4. In it, he repeatedly affirms that he had nothing to do with the revived Countach that Lamborghini revealed at Monterey Car Week on the occasion of the model's 50th anniversary. Gandini alleges that Lamborghini may have misled the public into thinking he had something to do with the Sian reskin, and he wants to make it clear that he had nothing to do with it. "The external public, seeing and reading what has been communicated by Automobili Lamborghini and consequently by the media during recent weeks, may be led into believing that Marcello Gandini was a part of, or was involved with, or the project may have had his blessing. It is therefore appropriate to clarify the facts and reiterate that he did not participate in, nor was he aware of the project in any way."   Rarely has a designer of Gandini's stature and repute so publicly refuted a company they've worked for. Though Gandini penned cars from the humble Renault 5 to the masterful E12 BMW 5 Series to the incredible Lancia Stratos, it is Lamborghini — where he was responsible for the legendary Miura, Espada, Marzal and Countach, among others — that Gandini is historically most closely associated with.  Some of the confusion Gandini references stems from a video published by Lamborghini earlier this year. In it, Gandini talks about his design philosophy (which, ironically, includes breaking new ground with every design) and current Lamborghini head of design Mitja Borkert presents Gandini with a scale model of the then-upcoming Countach LPI 800-4. The latter believes that his presence in the video equates to tacit approval of the new design. "Neither earlier, nor during the interview was it stated that the car was scheduled for limited series production. With the elegance and kindness that have always distinguished Marcello Gandini, when Mitja Borkert presented the scale model during the interview, the former did smile and acknowledge as would be customary to do so."   Gandini believed that the model was the end of it, but after Lamborghini pulled the wraps off of the LPI 800-4, he says he received "countless requests for clarification" from press and colleagues in the auto design field. He decided to issue the statement to make clear he had nothing to do with the remake.

2020 Lamborghini Huracan facelift teased ahead of likely reveal this year

Fri, Jan 4 2019

The Lamborghini Huracan is getting a light refresh for the 2020 model year soon, as a couple teaser photos preview here. Auto Express originally found the images that were apparently released to the Lamborghini consumer app for Lamborghini owners. These couple photos were reportedly pulled from there — we can't verify them, though, as the app is available for download by invitation only. However, when comparing them to spy shots of a Huracan Spyder we saw in September last year, these look representative of styling elements we saw on that car. Slightly different headlights along with a revised shape for the DRLs are the first thing we see changed from the current car. Lamborghini appears to have done some finessing with the front bumper. It's not quite the Performante, but we can expect it to produce more downforce. The photo from the rear tells us virtually nothing about the car, but the rear looks to be receiving the brunt of the changes according to our previous spy shots. We know it's going to have a more aggressive rear diffuser and feature exhaust outlets in the center of the rear fascia. Those are always cool to see. Besides these small bits here and there, it's unlikely to see any wholesale changes arrive for the base model Huracan. Future versions of this car or new models will pack electrified powertrains, but those might be further down the line than this slight refresh. New tech could be on its way to the interior in the form of infotainment/layout — being on the market since 2015 has dated it. Watch out for a reveal sometime this year for the new Huracan, most likely at a European auto show. View 5 Photos Related video:
