Lamborghini Aventador SV Jota spied with Huracan Performante styling

Thu, Apr 5 2018

The Lamborghini Aventador S is Sant'Agata's current king. It's 6.5-liter V12 churns out 730 horsepower and 509 pound feet of torque. It has a top speed of more than 200 mph. Its looks put anything to come out of Wayne Enterprises to shame in the best possible way. But as the Lamborghini Huracan Performante showed us, there's always room for more. Just take a look at these new spy shots of the upcoming Aventador SV Jota. We don't have many details, but the car certainly looks the business. The most obvious upgrade is the fixed rear wing, but look closer and you can see that Lamborghini has redone the entire car's bodywork. There's a new front splitter, new side skirts and a new rear diffuser. Even the air intakes on the side look a little larger than those on the Aventador S. The exhaust outlets have been moved upward and appear to be an evolution of a prototype we saw last fall. Everything else is speculation. Expect some active aero similar to the trick system on the Huracan Performante. Expect even more power from the naturally aspirated V12. The car is still heavily camouflaged, but expect to see a full reveal sometime later this year. Related Video:

Atelier Jalaper's new watch made from Lamborghini Miura bulkhead

Sat, Mar 11 2023

Last August, French watchmaker Atelier Jalaper announced itself with an automatic timepiece whose dial was cut from the hood of an Aston Martin DB5. The next collection is ready, this one with an Italian flavor. After another lengthy search, the company located a burned-out Lamborghini Miura P400S in Avignon, France. We're told a section of the aluminum bulkhead between the engine and the trunk escaped the fire, and with this, Atelier Jalaper created the AJ-P400. Instead of the Miyota automatic movement used in the DB5's AJ-001 and AJ-002 watches, the AJ-P400 is based around a Sellita SW200-1 manual caliber. Anyone without a watch winder will need to restore the power reserve after about 45 hours. The oval-shaped 39.5-millimeter satin-finished steel case shows off the first Miura connection: An oval outer bezel surrounding a circular dial, recalling the oval "eyelash" treatment around the Miura headlights. The chapter ring around the bezel comes in four colorways close to original Miura hues of Azzuro Cielo (blue), Verde Miura (green), Arancio Miura (orange) and Nero Cangiante (black). The Miura wreck provides the aluminum dial, its face textured and anodized matte black. The lengthy hash marks and somewhat crowded numbers are inspired by the Miura's speedometer. At bottom, instead of a Lamborghini logo and unit indicator, the watch shows the power reserve meter. And the band makes a callback to Miura seats. Last year's Aston Martin watch was produced in a run of 1,200, costing from ˆ800 ($852 U.S.) to ˆ1,150 ($1,225 U.S.). The Miura timepiece will be more rare and more dear, coming in a run of 400 examples, each costing $2,000. Orders are open now, the first samples to be delivered in July. Lamborghini confirms Urus SUV will be its only plug-in hybrid

Thu, Dec 29 2016

According to Autocar, we'll be seeing the first production hybrid Lamborghini soon. The publication reports that Lamborghini's research and development chief, Maurizio Reggiani, confirmed that the Urus SUV will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This would also makes sense considering former Lamborghini CEO Stephen Winkelmann's statement that if the company ever produced a hybrid, the Urus would be "the logical place for it to launch." Aside from this, Reggiani revealed nothing more about the gas-electric Urus. Reggiani did, however, provide some insight to Autocar into Lamborghini's powertrain decisions. He told the publication that the Urus's already confirmed twin-turbo V8 was chosen because of a need for torque in an SUV. With this in mind, it will be interesting to see what the company does with the hybrid since a big enough electric motor (or motors) could provide a remarkable amount of torque and, in turn, some impressive performance figures. Lamborghini has even shown this potential in the Asterion concept, which produced 910 horsepower from a 5.2-liter V10 and three electric motors. Of course we'd expect an Urus hybrid to be much less potent and probably connected to a version of the turbocharged V8. Reggiani also told Autocar that, just as the Urus has specific powertrain needs, the supercars do as well. He said that the company has no intention of adding turbocharging to any of its cars. On this subject, he told the publication, "A supercar is completely different; you need the responsiveness of the engine, to feel the spark of every cylinder." It will be interesting to see how long people like Reggiani can keep turbocharging and hybrid assistance out of the sports cars in the face of stricter emissions targets. He hints that future advancements in weight reduction and other areas may be key to that. It's certainly nice to hear that there are people at Lamborghini that still value the subjective aspects that make sports cars great. It's also news that's sure to put fans of Lamborghini's classic, naturally aspirated sports cars at ease. Related Video:
