Low-rider Lamborghinis, motorcycle gangs and Yakuza make Underground Hero a must watch
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Japan's Yakuza are some of the most dangerous and feared criminals on the planet, known for a disturbing level of commitment and honor. Just do some research on yubitsume to see what we mean.
Underground Hero: Love To Hate Me is a video from Luke Huxham, that takes a look inside Yakuza car culture, showing that these dangerous criminals aren't all that different from normal enthusiasts when it comes to their cars. Focusing on Shinichi Moroboshi, owner of a modified Lamborghini Diablo and someone we wouldn't be interested in angering, it focuses both on his life in the Yakuza and just what drew him towards the Diablo.
There's also an interesting look at Japan's modding culture, where neon chassis lighting is still alive and well. The effect it has on these cars, mostly from Lamborghini, is actually pretty dramatic, almost classy. The video also focuses on Bosozoku, in this case, Japanese motorcycle gangs. These aren't your Harley-Davidson riding Hell's Angels, rather, these riders lean toward tricked out Hondas and Suzukis (heavily modified cars are also a staple of Bosozoku culture).
Lamborghini introduces Huracan Super Trofeo EVO
Thu, Sep 21 2017It's been a few years since Lamborghini debuted its Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo racecar for its one-make series, but that car still looks ferocious. Now, Lamborghini has made some updates to the car, and announced that the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO will be taking to the track in spring 2018. The EVO is mechanically the same, but includes a number of visual and aerodynamic updates. The new body kit, designed by Centro Stile Lamborghini and Dallara Engineering, maintains the same amount of downforce, but decreases resistance to make the car more efficient and stable at speed. View 18 Photos Next year, all cars competing in the European, Asian and North American series of Lamborghini Super Trofeo will use the EVO configuration. The Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO is priced at $295,000, but current Huracan Super Trofeo owners will be able to purchase the body kit to upgrade their existing car. In addition to the launch of the updated racecar, Lamborghini Squadra Corse announced a partnership with Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis, so we can expect tie-ins between the two brands. The new (and pretty wild) livery on the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO includes Roger Dubuis branding. Roger Dubuis has also launched a limited edition of Excalibur Aventador watches. New Lamborghini Urus variant shown racing up Pikes Peak
Tue, Aug 9 2022Lamborghini set an all-time sales record in 2021 thanks in part to the Urus. The super-SUV has predictably been a hit, and it's getting an update in the near future to remain competitive. Footage published on social media gives us a preview of what to expect from the model. Posted on Instagram, the short video shows a camouflaged Urus prototype racing up Pikes Peak in Colorado. "When you're going that fast anything can happen," the narrator warns, but the preview stops short of revealing exactly what we're looking at. The footage of the SUV isn't much help, either: the Urus moves fast and is rarely in focus. Earlier spy shots may provide better insight into what's coming, however. Images of a pre-production prototype testing in the snow published in January 2022 suggest that the visual changes made to the Urus will be relatively minor. They include additional vents integrated into the front bumper and a redesigned rear bumper. We're also expecting that the interior will receive new tech features, and it's not too far-fetched to speculate that a handful of mechanical changes will be found under the sheet metal. And, unverified rumors claim that a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain will be made available in the coming years. Lamborghini will release additional details about its new Urus flavor in the not-too-distant future. That's also when we'll find out more about the Pikes Peak connection. Is the Italian firm planning to dethrone sister company Bentley and set a new SUV record? Stay tuned. For context, the current record holder is a Bentayga that raced up the 156-corner mountain in 10 minutes and 49.9 seconds in June 2018. The updated Urus isn't the only new Lamborghini model in the pipeline. The final evolution of the Huracan will make its debut before the end of 2022 and it will be worth waiting for: it will be a production-bound version of the off-road-ready Sterrato concept unveiled in June 2019.
