1963 Lamborghini 350 GTV still looks fresh on Pebble's Concept Lawn

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

We already brought you a gallery of Lamborghini's latest rockstar, the Veneno, from it's vaunted spot on the lawns of The Quail here in Monterey. Apparently the Italian brand didn't want the Pebble Beach crowds to feel left out, so it brought the supercar along to the Concept Lawn here as well. Not to miss out on the classics action Lamborghini has matched the Veneno with the car that started everything for the company: the original 1963 350 GTV prototype.
With 50 years separating the Veneno from the debut of the hip 350 GTV at the Turin Motor Show, Lamborghini cheekily mentions that it has stuffed "100 years of innovation in half the time." We'll leave the judgments of historical significance in the capable hands of the Pebble judges, but will agree that the original Lamborghini still looks amazingly hot, decades after its reveal. Apparently the classic 350 GTV doesn't travel a whole lot either, so we're happy to have a chance to lay eyes on it here.

Lamborghini officially reveals new Veneno Roadster

Sun, 20 Oct 2013

Sexy or vulgar - whatever you thought of the Veneno which Lamborghini unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this past March, it didn't much matter. Because by the time we saw it, all three examples were already bought and paid for... at the equivalent of $3.9 million each. But if you had that much cash burning a hole in your pocket and lamented missing out on the opportunity to put one in your driveway, we've got good news, because Lamborghini has just confirmed another nine examples to be built. Only this time, it's got no roof.
Now officially confirmed after leaking out the other day, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster features the same radical styling, extreme competition-derived aerodynamics, carbon-intensive construction and twelve-cylinder powertrain as the coupe that proceeded it and which we enjoyed photographing for your viewing pleasure just last month. The principal difference, of course, is the open-air cockpit, which offers no protection from the elements whatsoever: no fabric umbrella contraption, no removable glass or metal panel, nothing to get between your dome and the air rushing by at 220 miles per hour. That's the same top speed as the coupe, while the 0-62 run takes just a fraction of a second longer at 2.9 seconds. But we doubt you'd notice the difference with that 6.5-liter V12 revving just behind your ears.
It's the same engine and seven-speed ISR gearbox that powers the Aventador, only tuned up to 750 horsepower for the Veneno. And it should have more power, because at 3.3 million euros (about $4.5 million, give or take a Gallardo), the Veneno Roadster isn't just $600,000 more expensive than the Veneno coupe, it's also more than ten times the price of an Aventador. Still with us? You can scope out all the details in the press release below and browse through the photos in the gallery above for a closer look.

Lamborghini will introduce a mysterious new model tomorrow

Tue, Jul 7 2020

As the global automotive industry gradually emerges from months of COVID-19-related lockdowns, carmakers are beginning to unveil the models they should have shown us at the auto shows that were canceled during the first half of 2020. Lamborghini published a close-up of a mysterious new model on its official Twitter page, and it announced plans to unveil the car on its various social media channels on July 8 — that is, tomorrow.  "The future is here, and it is unlike anything the world may have seen before," the company wrote. While that's not a lot to start with, the winglet shown in the preview image looks suspiciously like the ones fitted to the limited-edition Sian FKP 37 introduced at the 2019 Frankfurt auto show. It stood out as Lamborghini's first production-bound hybrid model, and the V12-electric system's 819-horsepower output made it the firm's most powerful car. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Lamborghini can take the Sian in a number of directions. It could make the coupe lighter and more track-focused, for example. Alternatively, unverified rumors claim a convertible model is around the corner. Or, considering stylists put a huge emphasis on customization, it could merely show us the first customer-bound example. Although it's less than a year old, the Sian has already spawned several surprising derivatives, including a 3,696-piece Lego Technic kit that's over 23 inches long, and a 53,000-pound twin-engined yacht with 4,000 horsepower. Intrigued? So are we. Lamborghini will stream the event live on its official website and on its social media channels starting on July 8, 2020, at 6 p.m. in Bologna, which is 12 p.m. in New York City and 9 a.m. in Los Angeles. Regardless of what we'll discover, there is a high chance it will be sold out by the time it's unveiled.  Green Lamborghini Convertible Coupe Future Vehicles Hybrid
