1973 Lamborghini Espada Series 3 with power steering. Luci di Bosco with Verde interior. Very low mile car with only 20,000 miles. I have known this car for many years, this will be the third time I have sold this car, the last owner/enthusiast has had it over a decade and he carefully preserved it while making sure to regularly drive the car. There is an extensive service history documenting the care that was given to this car. It runs and drives very nicely! With the exception of the small dent the driver side front nose and the crack in the windshield(the car comes with a brand new in the box proper windshield), I would say this car is in excellent original type condition look carefully at the photos of the interior to see what I am talking about. This is the most desirable configuration of the Espada with the power steering and before they put on the ugly rubber bumpers. The color scheme on this car works, it is striking in person! If you want a great Espada this is one to seriously consider, these are great road cars, you can fit 4 adults in them and they make one of the sweetest engine sounds in the car world. Lamborghini close to joining premier LMDh class in IMSA
Sat, Aug 7 2021According to Racer magazine, Lamborghini hasn't officially said yes to joining the LMDh class in global endurance racing, but folks behind the scenes have green-lit the project and an announcement could come next month. Publicly, the brand's head of motorsport for the U.S. said work on a factory endurance program is "90% of the way there," the remainder to be sorted out by finding the right customer teams to lead the charge. Assuming this is what happens, Lamborghini will join Volkswagen Group siblings Audi and Porsche in the class, plus Acura and BMW. Cadillac hasn't made its intentions public, but observers expect the American luxury brand to come clean during this month's 24 Hours of Le Mans and show its LMDh challenger. Hyundai's apparently on the sidelines and leaning in, too. If all are counted, this would give the premier class for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship seven entries come 2024, and potentially add to the top-class LMH field in the FIA World Endurance Championship . As a refresher, there are two top-tier classes coming to global endurance racing. There's Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) that begins in IMSA next year, and Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) that started competing in the WEC on May 1 this year. LMDh cars use a spec chassis provided by one of four suppliers, Dallara, Ligier, Multimatic, or Oreca. LMDh teams can use any engine and electronics they want, but they will all fit a spec hybrid unit supplied by Bosch, a spec lithium-ion battery from Williams Engineering and a spec gearbox from Xtrac. Max horsepower will be limited to about 680. Audi and Porsche opted for a Multimatic chassis powered by a turbocharged V8, and Lamborghini is expected to follow its family members. Every team can create its own bodywork, the limit being a 4:1 ratio of drag to downforce and a single aero package for the year to keep costs down. The LMH class is based on roadgoing hypercars, a manufacturer required to sell 20 of the retail hypercars over a two-year period to qualify. Although output's capped to around 680 hp as with LMDh, manufacturers can develop their own engines, gearboxes and hybrid systems. Discrete bodywork is allowed with the same drag-to-downforce ratio limit. There will be balance-of-performance restrictions imposed on LMDh and LMH fields, and measures such as torque meters mounted on driveshafts to monitor overall output of each powertrain.
Lamborghini Urus accidentally revealed in driving mode trailer
Wed, Nov 22 2017In the lead-up to the launch of the Lamborghini Urus, the company has been posting trailers demonstrating the SUV's various drive modes. The latest of them shows off the "Corsa" track mode, but it shows off even more than that. As previously reported by Road & Track and CarScoops, an early version of the trailer, a clip shows the various modes on screen next to a completely uncovered version of the production Urus. Lamborghini has since removed that version of the trailer, replacing it with a different video. The new one zooms in on the lower screen to avoid showing the actual SUV. But because this is the Internet, once the first version was out, there was no going back. Above, we have the old trailer posted by another YouTube channel, and the image of the Urus is visible at the 12-second mark. But we've also provided a screenshot in case you don't catch it. For fans of the Urus concept, the image is pretty much good news. It looks extremely similar to the concept, full of angles, a fastback roofline that drops quickly to the tail and a very angry-looking fascia. The headlights seem to have a bit less of a squinty scowl, and the grille now has some toothy additions at the bottom of the bumper. But overall, it's basically the Urus concept brought to production. We also get some decent looks at the interior. There are three screens in total: one for the instrument panel and two for infotainment. The bottom of those two appears to be used for climate control. The drive modes and shifter controls are in the center around the starter button. They all seem to use big levers that look like miniature throttle controls from a plane or boat. We'll learn more and see more when the Urus makes its debut on December 4. Lamborghini's path to the future is paved with forged composites
Wed, Jul 13 2016As far back as 1983, Lamborghini has been researching carbon fiber for automotive use. The automaker felt confident enough in its ability to work with the high-tech material in 1985 that a team led by Maurizio Reggiani, now the Lamborghini Board Member in charge of Research and Development, crafted a revolutionary Countach with a chassis made almost entirely of hand-laid carbon fiber. The result was spectacular in that the car's chassis weighed about half of its all-metal counterpart. It turned out that first foray into carbon fiber was just as spectacular when it was finally tested for crashworthiness, but in a completely different way. Catastrophic would be an appropriate word, according to Paolo Feraboli, who now leads Lambo's brand-new Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory in Seattle, Washington. Proving how far Lamborghini has come since that ill-fated carbon-fiber Countach Evoluzione, Feraboli told us during the ACSL's grand opening that today's Aventador, which boasts a high-tech carbon chassis, aced its very first crash test in 2009. Chalk that success up to high-tech computer modeling and the practical application of lessons learned over several decades of trial and error. The dull red monocoque of that crashed Aventador now hangs on the wall at the ACSL like a functional piece of art, a reminder of Lamborghini's cutting-edge milestones of the past. Lamborghini's future will be hewn from what the company calls forged composites. First seen on the stunning Sesto Elemento Concept from the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the patented carbon-forging process forgoes hand-laid sheets, injected resins, and high-heat autoclaves. Instead, wads of randomly oriented carbon fibers that sort of resemble the kind of dough you'd use to make pasta undergo a three-minute press inside a mold. The resulting parts are just as strong as other carbon-fiber bits, but can be mass-produced at a fraction of the cost. While it's true that cost is often a secondary consideration for high-end supercars, it's still relevant. By reducing the cost and increasing the scale of composite pieces, Lamborghini can then afford to spend more money on other parts of the car. It's not just body panels and chassis components that Lamborghini thinks it can build using forged composite technology. The Sesto Elemento featured forged-composite suspension control arms that haven't yet made it into production, but probably will soon.
