2002 Kia Sportage Base Sport Utility 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
|
Up for sale is my 02 Kia Sportage with selectable 4WD. I've loved and cared for this car while I've had it, but for me it's time to stop putting money into it and get a car with an automatic transmission. This car would make a perfect fun weekend four-wheeler or regular stuff-mover. Comfortable enough as a daily driver or road tripper, with enough power and agility to work your way through what the road throws at you. The full gallery (27 pictures) is available by request and I can add detail pictures as requested. Please send me a message with any questions. PLEASE READ THE VEHICLE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS with no warranty, expressed or implied. It is your responsibility to contact me to inspect and/or test drive the vehicle before bidding. Bid if you are willing and able to purchase the car. This car is also listed locally. I reserve the right to sell the car locally before auction close if the reserve price has not yet been met by bidders. If your feedback is 1 or lower, please send me a message before bidding or your bid may be cancelled. Condition Generally good condition. Very good body and interior condition for its age, drives down the road straight and easy. Besides what is described here, no other known issues. I will include complete records from while I owned it, none were available from the dealer in PA who sold me the car. I had regular oil changes. There is no rust anywhere I'm aware of. Some very minor scratches here and there, one ding on the right rear door. Very minor wear-and-tear. CEL is on. With the CEL on the car will not pass Illinois emissions testing. In effort to track down and repair I have replaced in past month: -Thermostat & gasket, drain & fill radiator -O2 sensors (repl with Bosch sensors) -Exhaust work - repl flexpipe bellows Current CEL code: P0432 While I've owned the car, I also did this work: -Used fuel system cleaner Apr '13 -Repl all 5 tires Jun '13 -Repl fuel filter Jul '13 -Repl air filter Summer '13 -Repl front brake pads & lube Nov '13 -Repl front brake calipers Dec '13 -Repl front wheel hubs with WARN manual 60247 Mar '14 Have complete gas mileage log 3/13-3/14. Features -WARN manual hubs as mentioned for the 4WD. -Car has added RF modulator inline with the antenna to connect a music player using an RCA cable. -12VDC in cigarette lighter and inside liftgate area. History -I purchased the car about a year ago from a dealer in PA on eBay. Item 310624507023 from uncamikey (3347). He had no records, but the history report came back clear. -I drove the car from PA to Chicago where it has been my daily driver for a highway commute usually off rush hour period. I took a handful of trips out of town. In one year I drove the car about 8,830 miles. -This winter has been very cold and long in Chicago but besides the front hubs, the cold/ice/snow left no damage. -I never used the car as an aggressive four-wheeler (most just used 4wd for icy parallel parking) or drove off-road. -I rotated the tires once after purchasing in November 2013 using a rearward cross pattern. That's why you see the steel rim installed and the alloy wheel on the spare mount. Shipping and Payment -Please submit $500 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. -Full payment is due within 3 days of auction close. Payment must clear before I will sign over the title and hand over control of the vehicle. -I will not give you financing or accept a payment plan. If you obtain financing I expect the full payment up front. -Buyer is responsible for related costs, including but not limited to all shipping costs, inspections, travel, future repair work, etc. -If you wish to ship, I will happily meet a carrier you specify within 20 miles of ZIP 60625. -Local pickup is a great option. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied. Thanks for reading and happy bidding! |

Hyundai Motor's two R&D vice chairmen reportedly resigning
Tue, Dec 11 2018SEOUL — Hyundai Motor Group's two vice chairmen in charge of research and development have offered to resign, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday. R&D president Albert Biermann is likely to be named the new head of the division, two of the sources added, declining to be named as they are not authorized to speak to media. Hyundai is battling a plunge in sales, profits and its share price, and the reshuffle would be the latest since Hyundai promoted Euisun Chung in September to executive vice chairman, moving him closer to succeeding his octogenarian father as head of South Korea's second-largest group. The group has appointed new product strategy, design chiefs and replaced senior executives at its overseas operations, including China and the United States. The latest shake-up at the group, which includes Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors, could be announced on Wednesday, one of the sources said. It is "part of a generational change Chung is pushing for," another person said. A Hyundai Motor spokesman declined to comment. The group's vice chairmen, Yang Woong-chul and Kwon Moon-sik, both aged 64, told senior officials on Tuesday that they would leave the company, the sources said, declining to say why they had offered to resign. Biermann, a former BMW performance vehicle development official, adds to a flurry of foreign executives that Chung, 48, has brought in to the company typically dominated by Koreans. In October, Thomas Schemera, also a former BMW executive, was appointed to lead product planning for autonomous cars, connected and electrified vehicles, while Luc Donckerwolke, a former Bentley design chief, was appointed to oversee design at Hyundai and Kia. Hyundai Motor's third-quarter net profit plunged by two-thirds, hit by U.S. recall costs that added to its problems. The automaker was already suffering with weak sales in its key U.S. and Chinese markets. Hyundai's share price is down more than 10 percent this quarter, despite a recent rebound driven by a share buyback plan announced on Nov. 30. Here are some of the worst things we saw at CES
Fri, Jan 8 2016The word innovation implies something new and exciting. That's just as true for automobiles as it is for smartphones and computers. After all, who doesn't want to live in a world where the brightest minds are constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible, seeking to make our lives better through science? To boldly go where no man has gone before? While it's true that innovation is mostly a good thing, history has proven that mankind's brightest ideas can sometimes turn into dim bulbs practically overnight. Ever heard of the Foot-o-scope? That device allowed people to get the best possible fit for a new pair of shoes, which is great. But the machines emitted horrendous amounts of radiation in the process of offering x-ray views of the feet of its victims, which is not great. While we're not going to suggest that anything we've seen at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is as bad as a shoe-fitting fluoroscope, walking the seemingly endless halls at CES has taught us that an interesting lesson is just as true today as it was 100 years ago: Not all innovations are really all that... well, innovative. In fact, some of them are downright terrible. Check out the video above for a rundown of four terrible innovations from the 2016 CES Show. Feel free to share your thoughts about what we've chosen, or submit your own nominees for terrible tech, in the Comments. Weird Car News CES Kia Technology Videos Original Video CES 2016
Kia prepping Provo-inspired Mazda CX-3 challenger for 2017
Tue, Jun 14 2016Kia will be joining the fray in the sub-compact crossover segment, Australia's Motoring reports. The company could introduce a challenger to the Mazda CX-3, Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, and Toyota C-HR as early as this year's Los Angeles Auto Show. Kia Australia COO Damien Meredith told Motoring the new CUV will ride on the same platform as the redesigned Rio, and Kia will build the two compacts alongside each other, in South Korea. Kia hasn't gotten so far as naming the new crossover – at least it's not as far as wanting to publish a name – but it should draw inspiration from the Provo Concept the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. But it's tough to predict what that means. The Provo is, after all, a small hatchback. If Meredith came out and said it'd inspire the next Rio, it'd be an easier pill to swallow, but converting such an aggressive vehicle to CUV duty while retaining the overall look could be a challenge. That said, Kia's designs have become increasingly extroverted over the past several years – we can't wait to see what Peter Schreyer and his team come up with. According to Motoring, the Rio-based CUV could hit the market in the third quarter of 2017, which would put it several months behind the redesigned Rio. While that applies to the Australian market, a debut at Los Angeles or even in January 2017 at Detroit could lead to a similar timeline for a US on-sale date. Related Video:
