2021 Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition is a stealthy appearance package

Tue, Jul 14 2020

The Kia Telluride has made quite the splash here in the U.S. The stylish, versatile and well-equipped crossover won the hearts of much of the Autoblog staff, as well as those of buyers. Now, going into its second model year, the 2021 Telluride gets a broody appearance package full of black elements with the Nightfall Edition. The Nightfall Edition will be available on the EX AWD trim equipped with the premium package, as well as the SX AWD and SX Prestige package. Unique to Nightfall is a new, black radiator grille design and 20-inch black wheels with black lug nuts and center caps. Rounding out the look are roof rails, window trim, lower door side molding, skid plates, front bumper side air duct accents and exterior emblems all in gloss black. The Kia logos get a unique dark finish. The SX models’ LED headlights and fog lights get black inner bezels. They also get body-color door handles, which are already standard on the EX. 2021 Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition View 20 Photos The Nightfall package is available on a number of different paint colors, but thereÂ’s now a new Wolf Gray thatÂ’s exclusive to the Nightfall Edition. We donÂ’t yet have pricing details for the 2021 Telluride Nightfall Edition, but weÂ’ve reached out to Kia, and will update the post when we have those figures. It will be available at dealerships “in the second half of the year,” Kia says. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Driver unaware SUV is in flames going down the highway

Tue, May 29 2018

NBC Nightly News recently carried the above segment on a video showing a 2012 Kia Sorento spewing flames as its driver travels at highway speed on Interstate 4 in Orlando. Another motorist, Meredith Olinger, drives alongside, shooting the video while trying to warn the driver to pull over. She does, just in time. Seconds later, the Kia is cooked. The driver, Susan King, says, "I got out, and suddenly the car was engulfed in flames. (Olinger) saved my life. I'm incredibly grateful, and she was my angel that day. It was surreal." NBC did a nice job of using the video to highlight a serious issue. The SUV's owner was not King but her friend Tyla Kennedy, and though the Kia was part of a recall of 2012-14 Sorentos having to do with an engine defect, Kennedy says she never received a recall notice. That's because she was not the car's original owner. And as anyone who has received a recall notice for a long-sold car knows, automakers send the notices to original owners. Subsequent owners are out of luck. We could argue all day about whether automakers, sellers or subsequent owners should do more to ensure that automakers know the current whereabouts of their products, but luckily there's an easy way past all of that. If you own a car you bought second-hand, go to safercar.gov and enter your VIN. If there is a recall on your vehicle, it will show up there. If one pops up, contact a dealership and the repair will be carried out free of charge. Even if you bought your vehicle new, doing this check couldn't hurt, just in case your notice got lost in the mail. It could keep you from discovering, as you fly down the highway, that you are driving a fireball. Related Video: Image Credit: Meredith Olinger Auto News Recalls Kia Crossover SUV Videos

2015 Kia K900 proves Korea's other brand has arrived

Thu, 21 Nov 2013

Kia entered the US market in 1993 with the Sephia, a compact economy car you probably don't (want to) remember, and two decades later it has stepped on stage at the LA Auto Show to unveil a rear-wheel-drive, fullsize luxury sedan called the K900. The achievement here isn't the car itself, its handsome styling or the incredible value it might be (pricing has yet to be announced), but rather that no one thinks it's strange for this company that once sold us the Sephia to compete head-to-head with the best luxury brands in the world. It's a testament to what 20 years of hard work can do.
No one thinks it's strange for this company that once sold us the Sephia to compete head-to-head with the best luxury brands in the world.
As for the car itself, it does indeed have handsome styling. Kia's design language wears nicely on the K900's larger frame. The large, 19-inch, multi-spoke wheels keep that big body from looking disproportionate, and the all-LED headlights give the front end a suitably high-tech appearance that's required in this class of overachievers.
