  • We are selling -or- trading our 2008 Rubicon two door, black with black hardtop and charcoal interior.  It has been kept in very good condition.  The factory 'Freedom' hardtop has the removeable overhead panels.
  • All fluid changes have been with synthetic. The oil changes have been between 3,000 and 4,500 miles depending on use.  The oil still looks somewhat clear when changed.  I drain it completely during changes.
  • Garage kept.
  •  It hasn't been off road much (or enough) and when it has been I've carefully cleaned it afterwards, including underneath.
  • There are two minor marks which will show in the photos.  One is a thumb print size shallow dimple behind the driver's door and in front of the driver's side rear tire.  No one notices it except me.  The other is on the passenger side corner of the rear bumper.  Again, no one seems to notice it except me.
  • On it now, is a smooth flow intake tube with a K -&- N filter.  The original air filter unit goes with the Jeep.
  • Also, it now has a Velocity Series cat-back exhaust.  It is not loud or obnoxious and actually sounds good.  Last fall we took the Jeep from central Florida to western New York.  At interstate speeds, the exhaust is almost unnoticable.  The original exhaust goes with the Jeep.
  • On the Jeep now are four factory wheels with Goodyear Silent Armor tires for street use.
  • Going with the Jeep are the five original wheels with the B. F. Goodrich M/T's in very good condition.
  • It has a Class III trailer hitch and wiring.  The original rear pintle hook goes with the Jeep.
  • This Jeep still drives like new and is quite quiet with the hardtop.  It can be driven practically anywhere and seems to be immune to bad weather.
  • Everything works, including all of the Rubicon options.
  • The new owner will need to purchase the Sirius/XM service if they want it.
  • Call with questions, (352) 382-1774.  If we are not here please leave a message.  I will call back.
  • On a trade, we are looking for:
  1. A low to moderate mileage Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 engine, AW4 transmission and the Selec-Trac transfer case.  Factory tow set-up is a wanted extra.  A 'Limited' is preferred by not required.
  2. A 1993-2001 Cherokee, same as above.  A Classic or Limited preferred, but not necessary.

Ram, Jeep redesigns on hold, Alfa Romeo models may come sooner

Wed, Jun 3 2015

Last summer, FCA outlined an ambitious five-year plan that sketched out the company's product intentions for each of its brands through the end of 2018. However, even the best strategies sometimes need tweaking. According to Reuters after speaking with unnamed people at auto suppliers, FCA is now possibly delaying at least a dozen projects in North America for a variety of reasons. From vehicle to vehicle, these postponements allegedly last anywhere from just a few months to over a year. The sources from the suppliers claim that in some cases these tweaks are for engineering and design changes. The next-gen Ram 1500 reportedly has among the shorter delays and is being pushed from mid-2017 to November 2017, according to Reuters. Also, the much-discussed future Jeep Wrangler is allegedly moving a little later to July 2017. Among the vehicles purportedly seeing longer delays, the next-gen Grand Cherokee could get pushed back about a year to 2018. That then forces the launch of the three-row, luxury Grand Wagoneer to be even further away. Jeep's upcoming C-segment CUV and the all-new Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Challenger might also see postponements. The one brand allegedly seeing an accelerated plan is Alfa Romeo. Without going into detail, the sources from these suppliers claim that the Italian automaker is getting even more vehicles for its lineup and could get them even faster than planned. "Those plans need to be flexible and fluid, with the potential to add some vehicles, pull some forward and extend the life cycle of others," FCA said to Reuters about all of these allegations. "We look at these programs on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis." Investment in the auto industry has been a major topic for FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne as of late. He believes consolidation is necessary so that companies aren't burning money on the same projects. FCA spends $1.5 billion to retool plant for Ram production

Tue, Jul 26 2016

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is planning to invest $1.48 billion to retool its Sterling Heights Assembly plant in metro Detroit to build the next generation of the Ram 1500. The investment will allow the assembly plant to go from unibody to body-on-frame construction. FCA also confirmed that production of the Chrysler 200 will end in December in order for the plant to be altered. As previously reported, FCA is looking to move production of the 1500 from its current assembly plant in Warren to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant (both are in Michigan). While FCA has not released any official plans for the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, Automotive News reports that the plant will be retooled to manufacture the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. Earlier this month, FCA announced plans to invest $1.05 billion to retool the Jeep Wrangler factory. FCA's current investment plans are part of the automaker's push to put competitive products on the road. Watch a Jeep CJ get disassembled and reassembled in minutes

Fri, Feb 16 2018

Movie buffs! Remember the scene in the James Bond film 007: The Living Daylights where Timothy Dalton's character slices the floorpan off a police Lada using a laser, and when the driver hits the brakes the Lada's body simply jumps off its axles? That scene was immediately brought to mind as I watched this clip of eight Canadian mechanics disassembling a slightly modified Jeep in a matter of seconds. Having driven the Jeep to a complete stop, the technicians start unbolting it until the body lifts off the frame and the engine can be hauled away. It only took half a minute to turn the Jeep into just a chassis on wheels. As repair manuals say, refitting is the reversal of removal. Apparently the technicians have now honed their mechanical choreography to the point that the Jeep can be disassembled and reassembled in two minutes and 39 seconds; while I expect a great number of bolts having been removed beforehand and the likelihood of the Jeep falling to pieces with a sharp braking being significant, it is definitely impressive. It also reminds me of someone driving an old, dodgy car, having learned all its kinks to be able to keep it running. According to a Reddit thread, the pre-modified "Jifty Jeep" has been built (and taken apart, and rebuilt) by the School of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) for exactly this purpose. The team travels all around Canada to practice their show, trying to shave seconds off their record. There are worse hobbies.
