FCA to recall 318,000 vehicles for faulty backup camera software
Wed, Apr 8 2020An array of 2019 and 2020 FCA vehicles are being recalled over faulty backup camera software that doesnt meet federal regulations. According to recall documents, the backup camera may not turn off Βuntil a drive cycle ends.Β ThatΒs far longer than the 10-second linger time allowed by the rules, so FCA has to recall all of the vehicles to implement a fix. WeΒve listed all of the vehicles involved below. 2020 Jeep Gladiator 2020 Jeep Cherokee 2019-2020 Ram 1500 2019-2020 Ram 2500Β 2019-2020 Ram 3500 2019-2020 Chrysler Pacifica 2019-2020 Dodge Durango 2019-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2019-2020 Jeep Wrangler 2019-2020 Jeep Renegade 2019 Dodge Challenger ItΒs an extensive list encompassing a huge chunk of FCAΒs lineup in the United States. In total, FCA is recalling 318,537 vehicles. They must be equipped with the 8.4-inch or 12-inch infotainment system for the problem to present itself. FCA expects the recall to start on May 22 this year and will begin to notify owners soon. To fix the vehicles that may be affected, FCA plans to update the infotainment system at the dealer or over-the-air. If youΒve noticed a screen thatΒs sluggish to relinquish its hold on the backup camera feed (or maybe never does), then you have this recall to look forward to. Update: FCA has provided additional information about the repair methodology. Customers will be able to receive an update over the air or have their cars updated at the dealership. Customers will begin receiving notifications this month. Related video: Recalls Chrysler Dodge Jeep Crossover Minivan/Van SUV
2018 Jeep Wrangler revealed: First photos released before L.A. Auto Show debut
Wed, Nov 1 2017All the guessing and speculation on the look of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler can finally end. Jeep has released a trio of photos showing off the new off-roader in both two- and four-door configurations. Sadly, this is all we get to see at the moment, as the company won't be releasing any more photos or info until the truck's official debut at the Los Angeles auto show Nov. 29. But Wrangler fans can rest easy about a number of key features. For one thing, there isn't a single aspect of open air motoring left out of the new truck. As one of the images clearly shows, the doors come off, the top comes off, and the windshield still folds down. Other interesting notes include that the gas filler is hidden behind a door now. The hood still has the traditional external clips. Interestingly, the roll bar doesn't reach as close to the edge of the body as it has in past Wranglers. It will be interesting to learn the reason for this. It could have something to do with safety, or perhaps it helps accommodate thicker, quieter hardtops and/or a more elegantly lowered soft top. There are no engine, transmission, or other specifications yet. Those will all come at the aforementioned reveal in LA. However, we expect it to be initially offered with a V6 with either manual or automatic transmissions, followed by a turbocharged four-cylinder with just an automatic. Stellantis expects strike to cost it $795 million in third-quarter profits
Tue, Oct 31 2023MILAN Automaker Stellantis said Tuesday that the autoworkers strike in North America is expected to cost the company around 750 million euros ($795 million) in profits Β less than its North American competitors. The Europe-based maker of Jeep, Fiat and Peugeot reported a 7% boost in net revenues to 45.1 billion euros, with production halts caused by the strikes costing the company 3 billion euros in sales through October. The net revenue boost was due to higher volumes in all markets except Asia. Chief Financial Officer Natalie Knight told journalists that StellantisΒ strike impact was lower than the other Big Three automakers due to its global profile as well as some high-profile cost-cutting measures, calculating the hit at around 750 million euros ($795 million.) GM, the last carmaker to reach a deal to end the strike, reported an $800 million strike hit. Ford has put its impact at $1.3 billion. ΒWe continue to be in a very strong position globally and in the U.S. This is an important market for us, and weΒre highly profitable and we are very committed to our future," Knight said. ΒBut mitigation is core to how we act, and how we proceed.Β Stellantis has canceled appearances at the CES technology show in Las Vegas next year as well as the LA Auto Show, due to the strike impact. Stellantis on Saturday reached a tentative agreement with the United Auto Workers Union to end a six-week strike by more than 14,000 workers at its assembly plants in Michigan and Ohio, and at parts warehouses across the nation. Stellantis does not report full earnings for the third quarter, instead providing shipments and revenues. It said that global sales of electric vehicles rose by 37% over a year earlier, powered by the Jeep Avenger and commercial vehicle sales. North America continued to be the revenue leader, contributing 21.5 billion euros, an increase of 2% over last year, and representing nearly half of global revenues. Europe, the next biggest performing region, saw revenues grow 5% to 14 billion euros, as sales rose 11%. Related video: Earnings/Financials UAW/Unions Alfa Romeo Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep Maserati RAM
