I am selling my 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
This jeep has 118,000 miles and is a clean CA example with absolutely no rust of any kind with a motor from a 2005 Rubicon with 19k on the clock. Some details on the car: - When I purchased the vehicle (unknowing to me) it had a bad (or leaky) cam bearing and when it heated to operating temperature it would lose oil pressure and the light and buzzer would come on. If it didn't have a oil pressure gage or the buzzer was broke you would have never known. I didn't mind but I knew it had to be fixed. These engines are getting harder to come by since this was a common (other people had this happen so not an anomaly) problem around my year motor. I was able to source a 4.0 out of a 2005 crashed Rubicon that had less than 20,000 on the clock and had a professional Jeep business in town remove and install the new motor. This was an entire long block from oil pan to valve cover. We used my peripherals as they were in good condition and may have been replaced already considering how they look and function. As you can see by the pics below this jeep has been very well cared for and will have many more years of trusted service now that it has a new motor. It is dry as a bone underneath and is in good shape. This was not a cheap process and someone will benefit from my effort. I am looking at another vehicle to purchase and this was my "summer fun toy" and it has to go. As you can see it doesn't get off road much and hasn't spent anytime on salted wintery roads. - As you will see by the paperwork I have all the documentation from the previous vehicle where the motor came from and the motor has the same VIN to verify it's history and mileage. Some things that come with the jeep: - brand new jeep cab cover (in tan from BestTop) still in original carrying case for when the top if off and it rains. This will work with the doors on or off - Bikini top (in tan) from BestTop used for one summer with cross bar to mount it up front. Still looks brand new and is stored in the house - HID-LED off road lights. These are about 3.5"x3.5" and sit on the window sill mounts that I had powder coated white to match the Jeep. They are brand new and come with the vehicle. They are tiny compared to the older round KC lights but brighter and use only 20 watts. I figured they would come in handy on back roads late at night or in storms when no traffic exists in the area or the occasional camping two-track type outing. They haven't been mounted (bolted on) but all wiring is complete and is a quick job since everything else is complete. - Full stereo integration with custom sub box with 10" sub carpeted to match the interior color. A new amp, deck unit and all new 5 1/4 speakers both in the sound bar and dash (by your knees). I was able to remove the 4x6" speakers from factory with an easy aftermarket plate to accommodate the larger circular speaker. This runs like a dream and will make someone very happy. Please bid to win as this will sell before the end of the week. I will not deal with any dealers or car brokers so please don't contact me as I will not respond. You will be required to paypal $1,000 within the first 2 days after you have won the auction and pay in full and arrange for travel within 7 days. Buyer to pay for all shipping and associated costs of purchasing including but not limited to axes, fees, title transfer, etc. NOTE: I have many pictures and would be happy to email them to anyone who wants to see something that I didn't post. I tried to pick a good assortment of them to get a general sense of the vehicles condition. Nothing has been left out intentionally and I would be happy to share. If you have any questions please let me know and I will be happy to respond. Good luck on bidding!!! On Feb-17-14 at 17:55:38 PST, seller added the following information: Note: Added 2/17/2014 I have pictures of the new motor before it went in and also the jeep with the motor out of it as well for reference. I can't emphasize enough how clean this new motor is and looks like a brand new crate motor. If anyone would like additional photo's please ask me a question and provide your email and I will send them directly to you. Thanks for the interest. |

EU finds Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki Vitara break emissions rules
Thu, Jan 23 2020AMSTERDAM — Fiat Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki's Vitara diesel models both break emissions rules and must be fixed or face a ban on sales across Europe, the Dutch road authority ruled on Thursday. The RDW authority, acting as the reference regulator for across the European Union, said Jeep had developed a software fix and that the authority had ordered the company to recall the model across Europe to roll it out. It added Suzuki had yet to find a credible solution for the Vitara. "Suzuki must come with adequate improvement measures or the RDW will begin the process of revoking its European type approval," the RDW said in a statement, adding it had also started the process of revoking approval for the Jeep Grand Cherokee as a "precautionary measure." Regulators across the world have been testing diesel models since Volkswagen admitted in 2015 that it used illegal software to cheat U.S. emissions tests. The RDW said it had found both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Vitara had used "prohibited emissions strategies" that led them to emit higher levels of harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) on the road than under testing conditions. Dutch State Secretary for Infrastructure, Stientje van Veldhoven, said in a letter to parliament she would inform prosecutors of the RDW's findings. Fiat Chrysler and Suzuki could not immediately be reached for comment. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
2014 Jeep Cherokee gets official in a hurry
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Automakers work very, very hard to keep their new vehicles under wraps until they can present them in exactly the way they want it - typically choreographed under the bright lights of an auto show, or perhaps with photos or video in an idyllic location. Spy shooters and leaks, in other words, keep executives and public-relations types up at night.
This is likely to be one of the most polarizing designs to come out in 2014.
Take today, for instance, when the team over at Jalopnik got a big scoop - the first undisguised shots of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a model whose name wasn't even officially confirmed yet. The clandestine images taken inside of a factory were blurry and didn't exactly show off the crossover's radical new contours in the same sort of flattering light that Jeep probably would've wished for its product reveal. So the Auburn Hills automaker has wisely reacted by spilling at least some of the beans on the new model, giving us these four photos and confirming the Liberty replacement's name, Cherokee.
Aptly-named Hooligans motorcycle gang charged with stealing 150 Jeep Wranglers
Fri, Jun 2 2017Nine members of the Tijuana, Mexico-based Hooligans motorcycle gang are facing federal charges, accused of stealing 150 Jeep Wranglers in San Diego County, then moving them across the border, where they were sold or stripped for parts. "The joy ride is over for these Hooligans," said Deputy U.S. Attorney Mark Conover. "For many of us, our cars are our most valuable possessions," he said. "These arrests have put the brakes on an organization that has victimized neighborhoods in a different way, by stealing something very personal, something that has required a lot of sacrifice to purchase." Conover said the gang also stole dozens of motorcycles. The indictment alleges that the gang used old-fashioned shoe leather, a high-tech device, and a specific Chrysler dealership to pull off the thefts. San Diego County faced a rash of Wrangler thefts in 2014. Conover says most of the Jeeps were stolen in the middle of the night, and most were equipped with alarms, yet no alarm ever went off. Police were perplexed about that until they caught a break. On Sept. 26, 2014, a Jeep was stolen out of a driveway in Rancho Bernardo, where a security camera showed the thieves' method. Based on what they saw in the surveillance footage, officers sent Chrysler a list of 20 Jeeps that had been stolen and asked whether anyone had requested duplicate keys - and sure enough, a duplicate had been issued for all 20 - and all from the same dealership, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The indictment alleges that the Hooligans would case a specific Jeep days ahead of stealing it, and would take down its vehicle identification number. Somehow they managed to obtain the secret key codes that would allow them to request a duplicate key for that particular Jeep. During the theft, the indictment says, the Hooligans would disable the alarms system, program the duplicate key using a handheld device, then simply drive away. The fact that Jeeps' engine bays can be easily accessed because of their external latches made the job even easier. (Authorities recommend Jeep owners purchase aftermarket locking latches.) Three of the gang members have been arrested. One was already in custody when two others were arrested this week, one of them at San Diego's massive San Ysidro border crossing. The six others facing charges are still at large and believed to be in Mexico. Seven are US citizens, while two are from Mexico. The collective value of the thefts is estimated at $4.5 million.
