2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ
182,000 miles 4.0 6 Cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission Soft top w/ FLIP-TOP Hard doors A/C Cruise Control Recent oil change and tune up, including transmission and differential fluid changes Kenwood Stereo with sound bar (faceplate missing, needs replacement) My loss is your gain! I bought this rust-free Wrangler last summer here in Colorado and have spent an additional $8000 in the past 6 months to turn this into the awesome Wrangler I've always wanted at my mountain cabin. I had intended to keep it at my summer home in Telluride, but due to a drastic change in my long-term plans (including a move to Miami), I no longer have any use for it. Here is a list of parts/upgrades I've added in the past few months: 18" black Pro Comp wheels with Goodyear AT/S 275/65/18 tires Transmission replaced with a newer tranny with 70,000 miles New clutch and pressure plate New poly transmission mount New U joints all around New rear control arm New 3.25" lift kit with shocks and springs (Rough Country, with Premium N2.0 series shocks) New radiator New hood (old one hail damaged) New steering dampener New front windshield Aftermarket horn (much louder than stock) New soft top (Pavement Ends Flip Top) New rear bumper with tow hitch (Westin Trailblazer) New 2" wheel spacers New rubber floor mats New seats (driver and passenger, Rugged Ridge) New rear corner guards and front fender guards New pocket-style 4' fender flares, front and rear New Bestop Windjammer New front-end/hood bra New Tuffy rear security lock box New Hi-lift jack with front bumper mount New hitch-mounted cargo carrier Back seat included. Also includes a clear plastic bikini top. Priced to sell at $8900. Don't let the high miles scare you. Besides the motor, nearly everything on this Jeep is new or has much lower miles. The motor runs great by the way, and gets ridiculously good MPG for a 6-cyl Jeep. I avg. 17 city, 21-23 hwy. |

Jeep Grand Wagoneer could top out at $130,000
Thu, Oct 6 2016Jeep's image presents a blue-collar, American brand that builds SUVs for Average Joe drivers, nevermind the thousands of $40,000 Wrangler Unlimited that sell every year. But a revived Grand Wagoneer could push Jeep prices into a whole new realm. Eventually. Speaking to AutoExpress, Jeep boss Mike Manley confirmed "the Grand Wagoneer concept is moving forward," and that its price could reach levels previously unheard of from the brand. "I don't think there's a maximum price ceiling per se for Jeep. If you look at the upper end of the segment in the US, for me, the Grand Wagoneer done well can compete all the way through this segment," Manley told AE. "I'll use US dollars, but pushing the car up to $130,000 to $140,000 may be possible, but we need to establish Grand Wagoneer in its own right first. That's why I wouldn't say there's price ceiling." That's about twice as much as Jeep's current most-expensive model, the $66,690 Grand Cherokee SRT. Hell, it's more than a Dodge Viper ACR, and is roughly on par with a base Maserati GranTurismo. But while getting wrapped up in the idea of a six-figure Jeep is easy, Manley's argument that his brand needs to establish the new model first is more important. It absolutely does not sound like Jeep will introduce the reborn Grand Wagoneer with a trim near $130,000. Instead, we bet the new flagship model will kick off between $50,000 and $60,000, right near the top of where the brand currently plays. That lets Jeep undercut entry level versions of the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and GMC Yukon Denali without giving brand loyalists sticker shock. After establishing the Grand Wagoneer, to use Manley's parlance, Jeep can afford to push higher and challenge the base level Range Rover, which starts around $85,000. Only after that can we expect Manley's hypothesizing to come true. So yeah, while a $130,000 Jeep sounds like a possibility, we wouldn't expect it for at least a few model years after the Grand Wagoneer's big debut. Related Video:
Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
Stellantis will enter joint venture with Samsung SDI for EV batteries
Tue, Oct 19 2021SEOUL — South Korean battery maker Samsung SDI Co Ltd and global automaker Stellantis NV have agreed to jointly produce electric vehicle (EV) batteries for the North American market, a person familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. Samsung SDI, an affiliate of South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics, already has EV battery plants in South Korea, China and Hungary, which supply customers such as BMW and Ford. "The two companies (Samsung SDI and Stellantis) have struck a MOU (memorandum of understanding) to produce EV batteries for North America," the person with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. The source spoke of condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The person said the location of the battery joint venture is under review and will be announced later. In July, Reuters reported that Samsung SDI may build a battery plant in the United States, citing a company source. South Korea's Yonhap news agency earlier reported the two companies plan to build a factory in the United States, citing industry sources. Samsung SDI and Stellantis did not have immediate comment when reached by Reuters. Stellantis on Monday struck a preliminary deal with battery maker South Korea's LG Energy Solution (LGES) to produce battery cells and modules for North America. Shares of Samsung SDI were up 2.6% as of 0300 GMT, versus a 0.6% rise in the KOSPI benchmark index.
