Custom Rock Crawler
This has been a project that I have had for a while now. I bought this jeep in 06 as a stock 4 cylinder 5 speed and have modded it to what it is today.
The engine is a 1972 4 bolt main 350 bored .030 over with all new bearings, rings, pistons, cam, heads etc. The crank was ground .010 under. The exhaust is a set of headers feeding a custom y pipe back to a single flowmaster. There is an oxygen sensor fitted into the y pipe to allow for jetting the carb properly. The intake is a dual plane aluminum manifold fed by a holley off road avenger 670 carb. The heads are cast iron with the 2" valves. The cam is a crower cam and has a lot of torque. The ignition is pointless hei. The radiator is a 4 row all aluminum radiator with an electric fan. All the heating is hooked up and works. The transmission is an NP540GL with a mind blowing 7.41 to 1 ratio in 1st. This allows me to use 4.10 ring gears in my axles which are very strong and not lose any crawling ability. The Transmission is mated to a dana 300 twin stick transfer case. The front axle is a full width dana 44 with disk brakes, high steer knuckles and all heim joints. The rear axle is a 31 spline ford 9" with a detroit locker and disc brakes. The wheels are 17" and the rubber are all Yokohama 37" tires that are internally balanced, so no matter how much mud is clinging to the tires, they self balance dynamically without external weights. The frame has been lengthened a few inches to give a longer wheelbase and more stable. The suspension is a simple spring over. The front bumper is all custom and very nicely done with a stinger and an 8000 lb milemarker winch. The front fenders are all custom and made from 3/16" plate steel. The hood and grille are from an 86 CJ7. The belly pan is 1/2 plate steel to protect and support the tranny/transfer case while lowering the center of gravity. There are 2 tops included with the jeep. There is a gray soft top and a tan hard top that I was planning on painting, but never got around to it. The hard top is really nice for an original CJ top. The doors are 1/2 doors and have diamond plate liners. The front seats have covers and the rear seat is without much wear. The seat belts are either original or have been replaced with direct replacements. There is a dash that I never got around to putting in. It is from a CJ and is complete. There are some spare parts and some trim that I never got around to installing. The wiring all runs through the original harness and power distribution box of the YJ. This has not been some cobbed together junk. The power steering, lights, wipers, turn signals, horn, brake lights all work properly. I have done things correctly or I have not done them. The jeep is Licensed and registered and insured. It runs great and drives very smoothly without any wandering or vibration. I'm sure there are plenty of things that I'm forgetting to mention that I have done, so please ask away. I have just run out of time and am realizing that I'm not going to be able to finish this thing for some time, so I would rather see somebody else use it and have fun than see it go to waste. The body is good shape and only has very small dings but no real rust and no rot. I have spent unthinkable amounts of money and time on this Jeep and am selling at significant loss as is to be expected with anything like this.
By committing to purchase you are agreeing to make payment in cash within 7 days of purchase. I'm available any day of the week for pickup as long as a couple days notice are given. All questions are to be asked before committing to purchase. The first person to hit the buy it now is the owner.

2018 Jeep Wrangler interior revealed with retro touches and bright colors
Wed, Nov 8 2017Easily one of the weakest points of the current Jeep Wrangler (and most past ones for that matter) is the bleak, black plastic interior. Now, thanks to a pair of images from Jeep we get our first unobscured look at the new Wrangler's interior. And thanks to some retro cues, it's a much brighter and more cheerful place. As expected from spy photos, the dashboard's main design features are simple, flat body-color panels positioned in front of the driver and passenger. They harken back to the painted metal dashboards of vintage Jeeps, and at the same time bring a splash of color and contrast to what would otherwise be a plain, average interior. In fact, it's the same strategy used by both the Fiat 500 and Volkswagen Beetle. There's more metal-finish trim around the switches that advance the bright look, too. The whole dash is flatter, with things like the grab handle mounted flusher. Everything has a more geometric, crisp shape, with each bank of buttons featuring beveled borders. At the top of the dash is a big touch screen for infotainment. It's possible lower-trim levels will have head units with smaller screens and some more buttons, but at least on this model, it's all about the touchscreen. There are volume and tuning knobs lower, though. This is also where the various climate controls are found. The instrument panel gets a sharp-looking center screen, too, and the analog dials have been reduced from four large units down to two on either side of the screen. Below the climate controls are the window switches, power outlet and media inputs. At the very bottom we find switches for off-road features, indicating that this is probably a Rubicon model. A switch to the left surrounded by red accenting controls the front and rear differential locks, and in the middle is a button for disconnecting the anti-roll bars for greater articulation. On the right are four generic buttons that seem like the auxiliary toggles in the F-150 Raptor, so they should be able to connect to lights, a winch, and other aftermarket accessories. Jeep still hasn't revealed any other details on specifications or pricing. That information will be released on November 29 during the Wrangler's official reveal at the L.A. auto show. We expect it to only offer a V6 at launch with either a manual transmission (shown in the images) or an automatic, with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine coming later. Related Video:
2017 Jeep Cherokee vs. all-new Compass
Wed, Jul 12 2017If Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) can be described as on a roll, it's not by virtue of Fiat or Chrysler. The Fiat brand continues to struggle, with a restricted lineup and fragmented dealer network. The Chrysler brand is reduced to two models: an all-new Pacifica minivan and a 4-door sedan – the 300 – desperately in need of a revamp. And while Dodge is building interest via high-performance, its platforms are dated. The only real excitement is within the Ram and Jeep ranks, where global growth is fueled by cheap gas and a wealth of new intros. The newest Jeep is the Compass, and while classified as a compact, its size, interior room, and powertrain overlap nicely (or confusingly) with its midsize sibling, the Cherokee. And given their close proximity in price – the Trailhawk Compass starts in the high $20,000s while the Cherokee begins in the low $30,000s – they both could easily appear on a buyer's short list. Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk: This is an interesting crossover entry on many levels. You could begin with its polarizing sheetmetal. If, as a Jeep loyalist in 2014, you had expected the two-box profile of its wildly successful predecessor, you'd have missed the mark by an off-road mile. With a front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive platform housing a transversely mounted four or (optional) V6, you could store a small refrigerator in the new Cherokee's front overhang. And the previous Cherokee's slab sides and expansive greenhouse have morphed into aggressively sculpted sheetmetal and essentially no greenhouse. Yet we've grown to like it, but only as a jacked-up, big-wheeled Trailhawk. If considering the more street-oriented, front-wheel drive Cherokees, you'd do well to cross-shop. Inside, the Cherokee Trailhawk impresses. Its design and details hit above the competition, and the Cherokee won Ward's Autos 'best interior' at the time of its introduction. The Ward's team gave a shout-out to an interior "roomy, comfortable, and boldly styled with highly sculpted shapes and contrasting colors. Fold-flat rear seats add lots of utility and the Uconnect system is the best in the business." Our take is similar, and while in its fourth model year you could expect a refresh soon (make that very soon), there's little wrong with this introductory baseline. With roughly 25 cubic feet of space behind the second-row seat, you won't be blown away by the Cherokee's cargo capacity.
Maserati Levante crossover not Jeep based after all?
Thu, 20 Feb 2014Maserati has been teasing its crossover project since 2011, which is when it first showed off the Kubang concept (pictured above). Still, the production version, rumored to be called the Levante, remains a complete mystery. The CUV was first rumored to borrow the platform from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but new rumors indicate that the Italian, luxury crossover might actually take the underpinnings from the Quattroporte and Ghibli.
In a brief interview, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told CNN Money that the Levante wouldn't use Jeep's platform. Motor Trend spoke with an unnamed Maserati engineer who confirmed the rumor. Officially, the company says that no decision has been made.
We can add this to another long list of rumors about the Italian CUV. It was originally supposed to be built at Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit. Then, plans were changed to build it in Italy.
